Catcher rankings – Points
-
Updated: March 6, 2017

When it comes to points league the catcher rankings are slightly less depressing because generally you can find guys who will give you a little bit of something from 1-30.
However, this is still a position I don’t want to be spending too much time looking at and generally my strategy here is to keep an eye out during the draft for value on one of the top 4 and if not I want to be one of the last guys to take my player. This is especially the case in one catcher leagues given that I feel 5 through 15 have relatively little variation in final outcome.
Currently we are going division by division as we preview the season having covered the AL Central, NL West and NL East.

Strategy
- A lot of my points league teams will have Stephen Vogt as my catcher because he is a genuinely safe option who I think can end up playing close to everyday in Oakland. I also think he will be available at a value because he hasn’t had the big breakout people keep predicting and now he is seen as somewhat of a disappointment.
- In those rare two catcher points leagues I am looking for two of my top 14
- If that doesn’t work out then my eyes are firmly set on Andrew Susac who I think could be really interesting this season in Milwaukee
- The Gomes to Castro group is a pretty big risk in points given their strikeout potential but that late in the position I really think they are worth the gamble. I cannot see myself being in a position where I need to draft one of those guys and if I am it will be whoever is available in the last two or three rounds.
