Waiver Wire Focus: Week 12

In the last 24 hours I have dealt with the biggest dick head I’ve ever come across in a fantasy league.

This dick head is a recently successful fantasy owner, who can’t handle it. He was dead last in the league last year, and has sole ownership of first this year. Trash talk is fine. Being a dick head isn’t. It’s a fine line sometimes, but what ever that line is, he’s more than lapped it. He talks trash with a mediocre, lucky-at-best, team. He has also gotten away with a trade rape, which included him receiving Megatron.

His most recent example of dickheadedness started with the trade talks we had on Friday morning. My La’Veon Bell, Victor Cruz, and Percy Harvin for his Megatron. He wanted A.J. Green instead of Cruz. Didn’t work out, and I was very cordial about the whole situation.

Moving on to Sunday, I have a bad loss this weekend. Real bad. So bad, the other team didn’t have a defense playing, bad.  Monday morning I wake up to the dick head text below…

ehaleyea

BURN IN FANTASY HELL. Bad weeks don’t happen? Screw you. The fantasy gods won’t let him take the title, and I hope it’s my team (who is still very much in contention) who strips the trophy from his stupid fingers, and then kicks him in the nuts repeatedly.

It was a tough week all the way around for me, and the dude (who actually used to be my boss) caught me at a bad time. Anyways, here are some waiver wire targets that will help your squad kick dick heads in the dick come championship time.

Bobby Rainey, Tampa Bay

It looks like the Bucs just have an outright great running game who ever they plug in. Rainey is the most recent back to show off ran all over the Falcons on Sunday. Rainey went for 168 rushing yards and 3 total touchdowns. He’s clearly the upside pick in the current Bucs’ backfield. However, Rainey does have the potential to troll your lineup. It just seems like the successful Tampa Bay running back thing to do.

Rashad Jennings, Oakland

With Pryor dinged up, the run-first Raiders lean on Jennings a lot. He has made the most of it to this point. Against a legit Houston defense, who stacked the box all day, he broke off 150 yards and a touchdown. Most of the yards were from a beastly 80-yard run in the third quarter.

Montee Ball, Denver

Moreno owners should be worried. Ball looks to have taken over the close-to-the-end-zone duties, scoring two goal line touchdowns. Come fantasy time fantasy owners can never have enough goal line running backs on their bench.

Jerricho Cotchery, Pittsburgh

We can’t ignore ole Crotchery any longer. At least one touchdown in the last three contests (five overall) will land you on this article. While still very touchdown dependent, he’s a viable WR4.

Michael Crabtree, San Francisco

Crabtree returned to practice last week and should be playing in the next week or two. Kaepernick needs a true deep threat, and Crabtree could be the wildcard that carries you through the fantasy playoffs.

John Carlson, Minnesota

Carlson was on this list last week, and he’s here again because you didn’t pick him up. J-Carl went for 12-167-1 last week and is a great fill in for Reed owners should Reed miss time.

Waiver Wire Focus: Week 11

Christmas sucks. If you are a Christian, the meaning behind it is nice and meaningful, but the holiday that it has been made into… plain out sucks. The whole buying gifts, expecting gifts, awkwardly giving and receiving those gifts. It’s all a pain in the ass.

Thanksgiving is 10x better than Christmas. Everyone gets together to eat and watch football. That’s it. No pretentious gift giving. No acting like you love the shitty Tommy Hilfiger polo from your Aunt Janice.

Everyone is just there to enjoy each other. And that’s a beautiful thing.

Know what else is beautiful? Waiver wire grabs that help lead you to the promise land. They may not be not free, but at least you don’t have to wrap them and fake smile while your Mom pretends like she loves the toast you go her. She has a toaster that works just fine.

Nick Foles, Philadelphia

After his 7 touchdown bonanza last week, Foles again produced for the early Foles adapters. 3 more touchdown passes on 228 yards passing. He has a nice matchup next week against Washington as well. If he’s a part of your QB stream, you’ve got a strong flow.

Dennis Johnson, Houston

With Arian Foster out for the rest of the year, and Ben Tate playing with broken ribs, it very probably that Johnson gets a big bump in playing time. He still received limited touches in Week 10, but this is the kind of situation that could pay off huge down the stretch for stash and hope fantasy owners.

Andre Brown, New York Giants

Hopefully you picked up Brown when I recommended him the last two weeks. As everyone thought would happen, he dominated the touches in the New York backfield to the tune of 30 carries, 115 yards, and 1 touchdown. He’s a three down back, that isn’t great at any one thing, but is good at everything. Maybe, just maybe, he’s still lingering on your wire.

Aaron Dobson, New England

When a bye week puts a player like Dobson out of site and out of mind, players like Dobson tend to stick on waiver wires. Tom Brady loves his new X Receiver, and Dobson is turning into a solid WR3 on most fantasy squads. In week 9, before the bye, Dobson hauled in five catches for 130 yards and two touchdowns. This week the Patriots play Carolina.

Golden Tate, Seattle

Russell Wilson loves him some Tate in the end zone, and if you haven’t seen his grab from last week, Youtube it. Percy Harvin is set to come back in Week 11, but if anything, this will free up Tate. Tate was their only passing threat, and now he will have a little breathing room.

Tavon Austin, St. Louis

The rookie from West Virginia finally had his coming out party. The bad thing is it took him 10 weeks. Hopefully, the 3 touchdowns lit a fire under his ass for the rest of the way. I still wouldn’t consider him anything more than your WR4.

Rueben Randle, New York Giants

Since week five, Randle has caught all of Eli Manning’s touchdown passes. Randle was dropped after inconsistent play as of late, but this past Sunday he hauled in a touchdown on 3 catches. Next week he gets the horrible Green Bay secondary.

John Carlson, Minnesota

Kyle Rudolph is gone for a couple weeks due to a foot injury giving Carlson an opportunity to step up in the passing game. Carlson caught seven catches for 98 yards and a touchdown on Sunday against the Redskins. He is a decent streaming option.

Good luck in week 11. Give me a follow on the Tweeter @EHaleYea.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Focus

Bowel movements are my favorite form of comedy. I will send a Snap Chat 100% of the time while I take a poop. Anytime, any place, any dump.

Sometimes I will pan from my pants all the way up to my distressed face, or maybe a photo of the guy’s shoes in the stall next to me. Maybe this week it’ll be a snap of my actual poop with a “Have a good day” message included.

Everyone knows exactly what happens behind those closed stall doors, but no one likes to talk about it. While I don’t insist on videotaping my wife’s thunder dump, it’s still funny to giggle about. Some couples will go their entire relationship without a poop joke. How sad.

Where is this introduction going? Not sure, again. Introductions are my creative outlet before hitting readers with the fantasy advice. Thanks for sticking with it. I guess I could transition from thunder dumps to Nick Foles shitting on Oakland last Sunday. Enjoy Foles, and the rest of the week 10 waiver wire targets.

Nick Foles, Philadelphia

The man was unstoppable on Sunday against the lowly Oakland secondary. Foles completed 22-of-28 passes, went for 7 TDs. The man now boasts a 13:0 TD to INT ratio. The reports that he was concussed early in the Dallas game start to make sense now that he has dominated in every other game this year. He’s a great streaming and DFS option too.

Rashad Jennings, Oakland

Darren McFadden is hurt and your neighbor’s wife is still banging the mail man. They like to run in Oakland, and he attracts a lot of targets through the air as well. Jennings went for 102 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown after McFadden went down in the second quarter. He’s got the Giants up next.

Ben Tate, Houston

Now is the time of year where stockpiling high upside backups could pay off huge down the stretch. Tate is one of those guys. Foster is still sidelined with back injury. Full work load for our boy Tate, even with some cracked ribs… grab him.

Shonn Greene, Tennessee

I hate adding him to this article just as much as you hate reading his name. However, he is getting goal line touches, and he is producing in Tennessee…for now. Sunday, he had 10 touches, 66 yards, and a TD. Greene has a generous matchup with Jacksonville next week too.

Riley Cooper, Philadelphia

As long as Foles is slinging it, Cooper will be catching it. Cooper’s day went to the tune of five catches on seven targets, 139 yards, and three touchdowns. Side note: Cooper is welcoming this Richie Incognito stuff with open arms. His little fiasco is a just a small blip on the hateful radar now.

Aaron Dobson, New England

Brady likes his new every down X receiver. 5-130-2 was his stat line last week and he’s gone 9-190-3 over last two weeks. Dayummmm. With Gronk receiving most of the attention, Dobson is free to work one on one.

Marlon Brown, Baltimore

Brown led the team in targets with 9, and went for 54 yards and two touchdowns against the Browns. He played 55 snaps, compared to Jacoby Jones 41 snaps. Brown is getting the opportunity to produce, and is a nice WR4 option off your bench.

Tim Wright, Tamp Bay

Timmy boy scores again! He’s the next best option after Vincent Jackson in Tampa, and like most low end TE1’s, he will be boom or bust each week. He is a solid streaming option as well.

Hope you enjoyed my poop shenanigans and the waiver wire targets this week. Follow me on twitter, where I pretend I don’t Snap Chat my poops- @EHaleYea

Week 9 Waiver Wire Focus

I’d rather take a sledgehammer to the nuts than watch that Cowboys game again. I knew they’d piss the game away against the Lions after one particular situation.

Coming into the fourth quarter, the Monte Kiffin led defense had to take a freakin’ time out because they only had 10 men on the field. Are you effing kidding me? They just came off the commercial time out in between quarters! How do you not have at least the right number of players lined up? These people are professionals. Blows my mind. There was no way that team deserved to win after that.

After I cried in the shower and chloroformed myself, I woke up and decided there’s something better to do… provide you, the fantasy football people, with week 9 waiver wire targets. Here they go.

Jason Campbell, Cleveland
He’s not flashy or sexy, but he had a surprising game against a vaunted defense. Campbell completed 22 of 36 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns. All of this was even more impressive as it was against Kansas City. If you need a bye week fill in who is on most waiver wires, Campbell is a nice play against the Ravens in week 9.

Andre Ellington, Arizona
Never mind, he’s probably not on your waiver wire. If he is, ask that league to up their buy ins next year. There’s still a time share in the desert, but he gives you great upside each week. Ellington is a viable weekly flex option or low end RB2.

Montee Ball, Denver
Ronnie Hillman has fumbled his way down the depth chart. Ball has claimed the clear cut back up roll behind Moreno. Ball is a great stash and wait guy. If Moreno goes down with an injury, Ball has the talent to be a high end RB2. For now, he probably doesn’t make your line up other than desperate situations or in deep leagues.

Marvin Jones, Cincinnati
122 yards and 4 touchdowns against the Jets will earn you some attention. However, Jones has been showing out the last couple games. He has gone for 15 catches for 250 yards the last three weeks. As long as Andy Dalton can keep up the consistent play, Jones is a WR3.

Kenny Stills, New Orleans
Stills made the most of his 3 receptions on Sunday going for 129 yards and two touchdowns. He’s on the field enough, second in snaps for WR’s behind Colston, but his lack of targets will keep him from being a consistent threat. Likely boom or bust production from Stills.

Dexter McCluster, Kansas City
Kansas City wanted to get McCluster the rock this week. He posted an impressive stat line of 7/67/1. Definitely worth a look in PPR leagues. However, getting into the end zone is a rarity for McCluster. He has become the go-to possession receiver and has led the Chiefs in receiving in back to back weeks.
Now back to crying about the damn Cowboys…

Week 6 Waiver Wire Grabs

Filling in this week for the column makes me feel like I am the #1 Waiver Add amongst the www.FakePigskin.com staff. All kidding aside, these are some guys you should be paying extra attention to. Do not forgot Atlanta and Miami have byes for Week 6 – be sure to adjust your rosters accordingly.

Quarterbacks

MUST ADD

Geno Smith, New York Jets

Owned in 5.0% of ESPN Leagues

Week 5 Stats: 199 Passing Yards, 3 TD’s/0 INT’s

Two of the last three weeks have produced 24 and 21 point efforts, for the rapidly improving rookie. A 147.7 QB Rating on Monday Night Football, on the road no less, is not a fluke.

Brandon Weeden, Cleveland Browns

Owned in 1.1% of ESPN Leagues

Week 5 Stats: 197 Passing Yards, 1 TD/0 INT’s

With Brian Hoyer out for the season after suffering a knee injury, Weeden regains the starters role in Cleveland. Do not forget: he is only 1 year removed from being a First Round pick, and he has Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron to throw to.

AVOID

Mike Glennon, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Things are a mess in Florida right now, and Glennon has been thrown into the fire. Will learn on the job the rest of the way, but you do not need to be around for the growing pains.

Nick Foles, Philadelphia Eagles

The only way Foles will be on the field is if Michael Vick gets hurt. While that may be a good possibility, it is not worth a roster spot for someone who will not start.

Running Backs

MUST ADD

Andre Ellington, Arizona Cardinals

Owned in 4.0% of ESPN Leagues

Week 5 Stats: 52 Rushing Yards, 4 Receptions for 31 Yards

The tide is turning in the desert. Ellington had the same number of snaps (30) as incumbent starter Rashard Mendenhall. Look for that trend to continue to increase in Ellington’s favor.

Zac Stacy, St. Louis Rams

Owned in 1.2% of ESPN Leagues

Week 5 Stats: 78 Rushing Yards

While it may be a four man running back committee in St. Louis, Stacy might get the Rams share of the load moving forward. In his first extensive playing time, the rookie showed he can move the chains. I expect he will get more opportunities to test his consistency.

AVOID

Chris Ogbonnaya, Cleveland Browns

As long as Willis McGahee is healthy and active, Ogbon’s role will continue to be diminished. Cleveland will continue to pass, but the Browns back has limited value at this point.

Chris Polk, Philadelphia Eagles

Garbage time can be deceiving, and do not be fooled by his minutes from Week 5. He remains as the third RB on the Eagles depth chart, and should remain off your roster.

Wide Receivers

MUST ADD

Austin Pettis, St. Louis Rams

Owned in 1.2% of ESPN Leagues

Week 5 Stats: 4 Receptions for 49 Yards, 2 TD’s

While the bigger names (Tavon Austin, Chris Givens, and Jared Cook) get your attention, Pettis continues to get Sam Bradford’s. He is quickly becoming the QB’s favorite target for a team capable of moving the ball and scoring.

Jerome Simpson, Minnesota Vikings

Owned in 4.3% of ESPN Leagues

Week 5 Stats: Bye

Out of 4 games played this season, Simpson has twice gone for 7 receptions in a game. Once for 140 yards receiving, and the other for 124 yards. That kind of production should not be available on Waivers. Not to mention, he has done it with two different QB’s.

AVOID

Brandon LaFell, Carolina Panthers

Currently losing out to veteran Ted Ginn for targets, and losing some of the appeal that made him a sleeper in recent years.

Austin Collie, New England Patriots

The wily veteran was brought into New England because every WR on the roster has an injury. However, they are not serious enough to limit playing time and Collie will not do much for you.

Tight Ends

MUST ADD

Garrett Graham, Houston Texans

Owned in 3.4% of ESPN Leagues

Week 5 Stats: 3 Receptions for 15 Yards

Matt Schaub is having all kinds of problems this season, but one thing remains: He likes to find his Tight Ends. With the news of Owen Daniels being out ‘several’ weeks with a fibula injury, Graham has tremendous appeal from this point forward.

Mychal Rivera, Oakland Raiders

Owned in 0.6% of ESPN Leagues

Week 5 Stats: 1 Reception for 5 Yards

No, this past week did not produce the kind of results I believe Rivera is capable of. He is however a breakout waiting to happen. He should continue to develop with QB Terrell Pryor and it is only a matter of time before it becomes consistent.

AVOID

Rob Housler, Arizona Cardinals

A pre-season favorite of many, Housler got off to a slow start with an ankle injury. Now healthier, and back on the field, he has remained cold due to the poor performance of Carson Palmer. Do not expect that to change anytime soon.

Zach Sudfeld, New York Jets

As much as I would love to see the Patriots get a taste of their own medicine (former Jets having success with Patriots), I do not think Sudfeld will amount to much in New York. Currently 4th on the teams TE depth chart, he has a big hill to climb to get onto the field.

Streamin’ Defenses

New York Jets (vs PIT)

Philadelphia Eagles (@ TB)

Oakland Raiders (@ KC)

Detroit Lions (@ CLE)

* While writing this, news of Julio Jones was learned. Harry Douglas is a good pick up, but not may available in your league. Drew Davis is a name to check out from the other Atlanta Wide Receivers.

* David Wilson will also miss the Thursday night game for the Giants.  Although no starter has been named yet, look for newly re-signed Da’Rell Scott to get the call.

If you have any players you think should be mentioned, feel free to leave them in the comment section. Also, be sure to check out my weekly column “Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda” every Wednesday on the www.FakePigskin.com. If you are on Twitter, add me @PeoplezPen. Good Luck in your leagues this week!

Week 5 Waiver Wire Grabs

With Minny, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Washington on byes in Week 5, dont be caught sleeping when it comes to this week’s waiver wire.

Quarterbacks

MUST ADD

Bryan Hoyer, Cleveland Browns

Owned in 1.2% of ESPN Leagues

Week 4 Stats: 269 yards passing, 2 touchdowns

After two 18-point weeks, could it be that the Browns are actually putting something together?

Matt Cassel, Minnesota Vikings

Owned in 0.7% of ESPN Leagues

Week 4 Stats: 248 yards passing, 2 touchdowns

Is Cassel an exciting player? No. Will he do the job as a cheap, bye-week replacement? Yes. Who knows, maybe he keeps the job going forward and adds a little value to your bench. Cassel is on bye, so you can even look to pick him up next Tuesday.

AVOID

Ryan Fitzpatrick – Despite TEN QB Jake Locker sidelined for 6-8 weeks, Fitzpatrick isnt worth a roster spot except as a flyer in the deepest of leagues.

Matt Flynn – Flynn is doing what he does best; keeping the seat warm as the starter prepares to come back.

Running Backs

MUST ADD

Rashad Jennings, Oakland Raiders

Owned in 0.9% of ESPN leagues

Week 4 Stats: 15/45 rushing and 8/71 receiving

With Darren McFadden injuried again, Jennings should get plenty of run in Oakland.

Danny Woodhead, San Diego Chargers

Owned in 0.9% of ESPN leagues

Week 4 Stats: Week 4 Stats: 5/32 rushing and 5/54/2 receiving

San Diego has proven these first four games that they can score with the best of them (#7 in points per game) and Woodhead looked sharp in Week 4.

Roy Helu, Washington

Owned in 0.9% of ESPN leagues

Week 4 Stats: 13/41/1 rushing and 2/43 receiving

Alfred Morris’ (rib) pain was Helu’s gain in Week 4 and Roy is worth a quick pickup to see if that continues in the near term.

Wide Receivers

MUST ADD

Nate Washington, Tennessee Titans

Owned in 17.2% of ESPN leagues

Week 4 Stats: 4 catches for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns (8 targets)

With Locker out, Fitzpatrick will need a steady target and Washington appears to be that player.

Robert Woods, Buffalo Bills

Owned in 4.8% of ESPN Leagues

Week 4 Stats: 4 catches for 80 yards and a touchdown.

With teams #1 cornerback zoning in on teammate Stevie Johnson, Woods will have plenty of opportunities to touch the football.

Jerricho Cotchery, Pittsburgh Steelers

Owned in 0.3% of ESPN Leagues

Week 4 Stats: 5 catches for 103 yards and a touchdown

OK, so 16 points scored in Week 4 is great and all, but Cotchery hasnt been too shabby the other three weeks either, scoring 9, 9 and 5. No game for him in Week 5, but would be a nice add if you have the roster space.

Streamin’ Defenses
Buffalo (@ Cleveland)
Cleveland (vs Buffalo)
St Louis (vs Jacksonville)
San Diego (@ Oakland)

Good luck this week and feel free to suggest your waiver-wire adds in the comments below!

Week 4 Waiver Wire

I figured I’d start this article out by doing a bit of rambling.

This week was crazy for me. Won in two leagues by a total of 3.6. Crazy, huh? Isn’t Fantasy Football great?!

This week I’ll be heading to Buffalo, NY to watch my Ravens take on the Buffalo Bills. I’ll be driving about 8 hours. I’ll be able to give a heads up to all CJ Spiller and Ray Rice owners as you’re hoping they’ll play and be effective.

Week 4 time. Bye weeks begin. Who to pick up?

QUARTERBACK

MUST ADD

1. Brian Hoyer, Cleveland Browns

Owned in 2% of Yahoo! Leagues

Week 3 Stats: 321 passing yards, 3 TDs, 3 INTs

Brandon Weeden who?

Brian Hoyer looked incredible!

In his second career start, Hoyer dazzled in the teams defeat over the Minnesota Vikings.

After trading Trent Richardson, we all thought the Browns who would be a laughing stock. Well, we thought wrong.

He makes every receiving option more relevant.

Though Head Coach Rob Chudzinski was non-committal about naming his starting QB for Week 4, it has to be Hoyer. He won them the game.

In week 4, Cleveland takes on the Bengals who shut Aaron Rodgers down, so for this week Hoyer may not be worth a play, but in future match-ups, he’s a great QB2/streaming option.

The man throws TDs.

2. Terrelle Pryor, Oakland Raiders

Owned in 20% of Yahoo! Leagues

Week 3 Stats: 281 passing yards, 1 TD, 0 INTs, 36 rushing yards

Welcome back to the Waiver wire piece, Terrelle.

Yes, he sustained a concussion towards the end of the game, but it appeared to be mild considering he actually played a play after that.

He looked really well against the Broncos. Throwing on the run, under pressure, making throws stepping up in the pocket. Looked very polished.

And oh yeah, he plays the Redskins Week 4.

AVOID

1. Geno Smith - Played well, but won’t be a starter unless in a deep league and need a bye week fill-in.

Running Back

MUST ADD

1. Brandon Bolden, New England Patriots

Owned in 3% of Yahoo! Leagues

Week 3 Stats: 3 carries, 51 rushing yards, 5 receptions, 49 receiving yards

Stevan Ridley owners, start sweating.

Brandon Bolden looks REALLY good.

Didn’t get many carries, but will sustain PPR value all year long.

2. Johnathan Franklin, Green Bay Packers

Owned in 10% of Yahoo! Leagues

Week 3 Stats: 13 carries, 103 rushing yards, 1 reception, 3 receiving yards

I said it coming in to this year – Franklin and Gio will be the best backs in this class.

In limited action, and after a James Starks injury, Franklin shined.

Unfortunately, his value is limited to a bench stash because the team has a bye, and Eddie Lacy should be back after the bye.

AVOID

1. Ronnie Hillman, Denver Broncos – Clearly a three-headed backfield. None can be trusted.

2. All Arizona Cardinals RBs - Way to unpredictable. Not a good trait in fantasy.

WIDE RECEIVER

MUST ADD

1. Stephen Hill, New York Jets

Owned in 6% of Yahoo! Leagues

Week 3 Stats: 3 receptions, 108 receiving yards, 1 TD

He’s purely a good athlete, and a great deep threat.

The Jets should be behind often this year, so Stephen Hill is a guy to keep an eye on.

Bench stash.

AVOID

1. Santonio Holmes, New York Jets – Fluke game. Played a lot against a back-up CB in Justin Rogers and he took advantage of him.

2. Ted Ginn Jr., Carolina Panthers – He’s the 4th receiving option. Run-first offense, and really only a home run hitter. Will not be consistent.

TIGHT END

MUST ADD

None to add this week.

TOP DEFENSES:

1. Kansas City Chiefs

2. Indianapolis Colts

3. Baltimore Ravens

Week 3 Waiver Wire

Another week down, more waiver wire pickups. How’d you do this week? I sucked, to be honest.

Anyways…

Quarterback

MUST ADD

1. Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers

Owned in 39% of Yahoo! Leagues

Week 2 Stats: 419 passing yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs, 11 rushing yards

Mr. Rivers, you have my attention.

After a 4 TD performance with under 200 yards in Week 1, I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical, but Phil (can I call you Phil?), you have proved me wrong. Yes, it was a pedestrian Eagles team, but he just looked a bit like his old self.

Taking a glimpse in to his upcoming schedule, Rivers plays at Tennessee, vs. Dallas, and at Oakland…all great match-ups.

Philip Rivers will be in my top-12 until further notice. I’d start him over Cam Newton.

2. Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins

Owned in 15% of Yahoo Leagues

Week 2 Stats: 319 passing yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, 1 rushing yard

He had a similar game to Week 1, but his numbers weren’t bad. He seems to be throwing a ton and the TDs will eventually come to him.

For now he’s probably a streaming option, but a guy that I would want for sure.

Week 2 Waiver Wire

Alright! Fantasy football is here! Week 1 is over and there have been a few expected players that broke out. Every week this list will consist of  3 QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs and D/ST, and some guys to avoid.

All players will be owned in 60% or less in Yahoo! Leagues.

Quarterback

MUST ADD

1. Matt Schaub, Houston Texans

Owned in 56% of Yahoo! Leagues

Week 1 Stats: 346 passing yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT

Looking like him old self, isn’t he? 346 yards, 3 TDs and and INT? I’ll take it. It was San Diego, but he’ll be solid from here on out.

2. Sam Bradford, St. Louis Rams

Owned in 48% of Yahoo! Leagues

Week 1 Stats: 299 passing yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT

Finally! Sam Bradford has his weapons, and he definitely utilized them. He threw for almost 300 yards, 299 to be exact, with 2 TDs and an INT. Expect Bradford to put up some good numbers on a weekly basis with guys like Jared Cook helping him out. Like Pryor, he’s a top-15 option.

3. Carson Palmer, Arizona Cardinals

Owned in 59 % of Yahoo! Leagues

Week 1 Stats: 327 passing yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT

He had chemistry with elite wide-out Larry Fitzgerald,  and he also made Andre Roberts look fantasy relevant. He’s good for close to 300 yards a week. His coach, Bruce Arians, loves to throw.

T-3. Terrelle Pyor, Oakland Raiders

Owned in 12% of Yahoo! Leagues

Week 1 Stats: 217 passing yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs, 112 rushing yards

I wrote a bit about him in my previous article, ”5 Players You Need To Pick Up NOW!” and it will stick. From a real football perspective, no, it was not pretty, but we’re fantasy players. Any QB with rushing ability is a tempting pickup. Pryor’s numbers will remind you of Tim Tebow’s from two seasons ago.

AVOID

1. EJ Manuel, Buffalo Bills

Week 1 Stats: 150 passing yards, 2 TDs, 23 rushing yards

Overall, just not a great fantasy day for EJ. The rushing was very limited, and without that, he’s not a viable fantasy asset.

2. Geno Smith, New York Jets

Week 1 Stats: 256 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 47 rushing yards

Granted, the Buccaneers have a pretty good defense, but with limited receiving corps, I don’t see Geno Smith as a viable option unless you’re in a deeper 2 QB league.

Wide Receiver

MUST ADD

1. Julian Edelman, New England Patriots

Owned in 25% of Yahoo! Leagues

Week 1 Stats: 7 receptions, 79 yards, 2 TDs

I did not expect a good game for Edelman. I expected a lot of Kenbrell Thompkins and Zach Sudfeld but that was not the case. He played 83-of-94 offensive snaps, and was in on every 3 WR set. With Amendola dealing with some nagging injuries and Sudfeld doubtful for Week 2 versus the Jets, expect Edelman to have a good game and a good season moving forward.

2. Marlon Brown, Baltimore Ravens

Owned in 5% of Yahoo! Leagues

Week 1 Stats: 4 receptions, 65 yards, 1 TD

He’s the number 2 wide-out now with Jacoby Jones hurt and teams are looking to shut down Torrey Smith, week-in-week-out. He could finish the season with 7-9 TDs. Pick this guy up.

3. Brian Hartline, Miami Dolphins

Owned in 46% of Yahoo! Leagues

Week 1 Stats: 9 receptions, 114 yards, 1 TD

Well, he matched his 2012 TD total! As expected, Joe Haden shut down Mike Wallace and that let Brian Hartline take over. From here on out, any time a big time corner, or extra coverage is assigned to Mike Wallace, Hartline will explode. He is a low-end WR3.

AVOID

1. Jerome Simpson, Minnesota Vikings

Week 1 Stats: 7 receptions, 140 yards

If you think Jerome Simpson will repeat this production, register yourself in the nearest insane asylum. NO WAY.

2. Jermaine Kearse, Seattle Seahawks

Week 1 Stats: 2 receptions, 49 yards, 1 TD

So many other options, don’t expect a repeat. He’s, at best, the Seahawks’ fourth receiving option.

Running Backs

MUST ADD

1. Joique Bell, Detroit Lions

Week 1 Stats: 25 rushing yards, 2 TDs, 5 receptions, 67 yards

He’s mainly a pass catcher, but got quite a few goal-line carries. This game could spell the end of Mikel LeShoure. Even with Reggie Bush being all Barry Sanders-like, he is a bit banged up, and Bell will still rack up good receiving numbers. Great PPR flex option.

2. Knowshon Moreno, Denver Broncos

Owned in 43% of Yahoo! Leagues

Week 1 Stats: 28 rushing yards, 3 receptions, 37 receiving yards

Yes, the numbers, on paper, don’t look great, but he led the team in RB snaps at 25 and carried the ball 9 times. Hillman has shown fumble troubles, and Montee Ball hasn’t really progressed in pass protection. Moreno is a good runner and has great pass catching ability. He’s the RB to own in Denver.

3. Da’Rell Scot, New York Giants

Week 1 Stats: 23 rushing yards, 5 receptions, 51 yards

After fumbling twice, David Wilson was benched. Again. Last season, he was benched indefinitely after fumbling in the opener. The Giants, and Tom Coughlin have said they need David Wilson, but it might take a few weeks to incorporate him back in the offense so he can “become a better ball handler”. Scott is a great pass catcher, and might start Week 2.

AVOID

1. Jackie Battle, Tennessee Titans

Week 1 Stats: 21 rushing yards, 1 TD

It was a goal-line poach. Don’t expect Battle to be a big part of this offense, though he might get some goal-line touches.

2. Vonta Leach, Baltimore Ravens

Week 1 Stats: 3 receptions, 12 receiving yards, 1 TD

He’s a full-back. He’ll get some fluky TDs here and there, but not a valid asset in any format.

Tight End

MUST ADD

1. Julius Thomas, Denver Broncos

Owned in 56% of Yahoo! Leagues

Week 1 Stats: 5 receptions, 110 receiving yards, 2 TDs

What a game for the Portland State alum! Although he had a great game, this was probably his ceiling. He is a TE1 moving forward and must be on fantasy rosters.

2. Brent Celek, Philadelphia Eagles

Owned in 21% of Yahoo! Leagues

Week 1 Stats: 2 receptions, 56 receiving yards, 1 TD

Clearly the tight end to own in Philly, ahead of both Zach Ertz and James Casey. He was only targeted 3 times though. He’s a TE2.

3. Kellen Winslow, New York Jets

Owned in 6% of Yahoo! Leagues

Week 1 Stats: 7 receptions, 79 yards, 1 TD

You either hate him, or love him. I love him. He had 8 targets and was Geno Smith’s number one receiving options. He’s merely a bye week filler, or a TE2, but this was not a fluke.

AVOID

1. Garrett Graham, Houston Texans

Week 1 Stats: 4 receptions, 27 receiving yards, 1 TD

His TDs will be sporadic and random. Don’t bet on him weekly.

2. Joseph Fauria, Detroit Lions

Week 1 Stats: 3 receptions, 27 yards, 1 TD

I like him long-term, but for this season, he will see minimal production. This might be his lone TD this season.

3 Defenses To Start Week 2

1. Dallas Cowboys

2. Indianapolis Colts

3. Oakland Raiders (They’re playing the Jaguars….)

Good luck in Week 2!
