With Minny, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Washington on byes in Week 5, dont be caught sleeping when it comes to this week’s waiver wire.
Quarterbacks
MUST ADD
Bryan Hoyer, Cleveland Browns
Owned in 1.2% of ESPN Leagues
Week 4 Stats: 269 yards passing, 2 touchdowns
After two 18-point weeks, could it be that the Browns are actually putting something together?
Matt Cassel, Minnesota Vikings
Owned in 0.7% of ESPN Leagues
Week 4 Stats: 248 yards passing, 2 touchdowns
Is Cassel an exciting player? No. Will he do the job as a cheap, bye-week replacement? Yes. Who knows, maybe he keeps the job going forward and adds a little value to your bench. Cassel is on bye, so you can even look to pick him up next Tuesday.
AVOID
Ryan Fitzpatrick – Despite TEN QB Jake Locker sidelined for 6-8 weeks, Fitzpatrick isnt worth a roster spot except as a flyer in the deepest of leagues.
Matt Flynn – Flynn is doing what he does best; keeping the seat warm as the starter prepares to come back.
Running Backs
MUST ADD
Rashad Jennings, Oakland Raiders
Owned in 0.9% of ESPN leagues
Week 4 Stats: 15/45 rushing and 8/71 receiving
With Darren McFadden injuried again, Jennings should get plenty of run in Oakland.
Danny Woodhead, San Diego Chargers
Owned in 0.9% of ESPN leagues
Week 4 Stats: Week 4 Stats: 5/32 rushing and 5/54/2 receiving
San Diego has proven these first four games that they can score with the best of them (#7 in points per game) and Woodhead looked sharp in Week 4.
Roy Helu, Washington
Owned in 0.9% of ESPN leagues
Week 4 Stats: 13/41/1 rushing and 2/43 receiving
Alfred Morris’ (rib) pain was Helu’s gain in Week 4 and Roy is worth a quick pickup to see if that continues in the near term.
Wide Receivers
MUST ADD
Nate Washington, Tennessee Titans
Owned in 17.2% of ESPN leagues
Week 4 Stats: 4 catches for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns (8 targets)
With Locker out, Fitzpatrick will need a steady target and Washington appears to be that player.
Robert Woods, Buffalo Bills
Owned in 4.8% of ESPN Leagues
Week 4 Stats: 4 catches for 80 yards and a touchdown.
With teams #1 cornerback zoning in on teammate Stevie Johnson, Woods will have plenty of opportunities to touch the football.
Jerricho Cotchery, Pittsburgh Steelers
Owned in 0.3% of ESPN Leagues
Week 4 Stats: 5 catches for 103 yards and a touchdown
OK, so 16 points scored in Week 4 is great and all, but Cotchery hasnt been too shabby the other three weeks either, scoring 9, 9 and 5. No game for him in Week 5, but would be a nice add if you have the roster space.
Streamin’ Defenses
