Week 13 Two Start Pitchers
-
Updated: June 23, 2017

The week 13 two start pitchers offer some really interesting options even despite a relatively weak upper echelon of talent. There is strength in depth in this week’s class particularly in the top 20 where I can see 18 guys as borderline 12 team starters and if you believe in them despite limited innings this year then 19 & 20 could also fall in that class as well. Even in 20-28 there are some intriguing options with the match-ups if you are a gambler or need some drastic this week to help you win.

Tune in each week to hear the team discuss the previous week and take a look forward at what we can hope to expect in the coming week. We will be discussing waiver wire, start sit along with all the major topics surrounding the world of fantasy baseball.

Notes:
- Max Scherzer and Chris Sale are both the no brainers at the top of this list. Sale got the nudge just simply because I think his match-ups are a fraction less scary.
- Rich Hill has had some scary outings but a week where he gets to face the Angels and the Padres is one where I think he can really prosper for fantasy teams.
- Justin Verlander has a reasonably good start against the Royals and a mid-level one against the Indians which I think can lead to a good week for him.
- Carlos Martinez has two tough outings but he has the stuff to mean he could succeed.
- Jeff Samardzija’s underlying stats have not been repeated in his season ERA. I think this is a week where Samardzija can really reward owners and one where he could easily end the week in the top 5.
- Jake Arrieta has a tough match-up in Washington and one that could be tough in a batter friendly park in Cincinnati but I think he has the talent to at least put up one solid outing,
- Jose Quintana gets two line-ups who can be very much all or nothing so this is one of those could be great could be a disaster type guys this week.
- Jose Berrios will need to survive start one against Boston but the start in Kansas should be good.
- I really like these match-ups for Hyun-Jin Ryu.
- The start in Houston has me scared for Sean Manaea but I think the Atlanta start can be really good.
- The start against the Cubs could be tough for Gio Gonzalez but at least it is at home and then he gets a decent start in St. Louis to end the week.
- Drew Pomeranz has two decent starts
- Luis Severino should be successful in start one but start two is one I will be crossing my fingers for. He is my last must start in 12 team leagues.
- I love the first start of the week against Pittsburgh for Alex Cobb but the second start of the week in Baltimore does have me nervous enough to only have him a borderline guy.
- I can’t quite buy into Zack Godley in two home starts this week. Pitching in Arizona can always be dangerous and Colorado have the bats to do some real damage. He is my last borderline 12 team starter this week.
- I just want to see more from Taijuan Walker before he can go any higher but this week I think he is my lasy borderline 12-teamer.
- Michael Wacha has struggled a bit recently and for that reason I am going to drop him just outside 12 team leagues just because Cincy can do damage on their good day and I always just expect Washington to do some damage. If I desperately need a guy I will start him in the hope he is good against the Reds.
- I love the match-ups for Sean Newcomb and in a 14 teamer I call it a no-brainer but I can’t quite be any more bullish than that on him this week.
- I am going to be bullish on Robert Gsellman and Trevor Williams as I love their match-ups and say I think they can be must start this week in 14 teamers.
- Jordan Montgomery could have a tough week with a start in Houston to end the week. The Chicago start should be fairly good and hopefully he doesn’t get too badly knocked around.
- Tyson Ross has had one decent and one bad start since his return. Borderline 14 team league guy.
- Tough first start for Jesse Chavez but the second one should be easier.
- Joe Biagini, Ricky Nolasco and Daniel Norris are all borderline 14 team guys for me. Biagini is my favourite but the two starts have me scared.
- Junior Guerra’s match-ups intrigue me but I am scared enough of the two hitters parks that he stays borderline 14 team for me.
- Nick Pivetta, Matt Strahm and Mike Clevinger all have me intrigued but I will limit my excitement to 15 team leagues this week.
