Reynaldo Lopez (CHW @ KC)
Over/Under: 8 1/2
Moneyline: +120
FanDuel: $7,400/DraftKings: $7,800
If you’re looking at Lopez’s record for the season, you’ll be disappointed. Take a deeper look into the numbers and you’ll see the potential. With four starts on the season, he’s pitched at least five innings in all of them, and collectively, has only allowed four earned runs. Walks are a bit of an issue, but the strikeout upside is there, with 23 in 24 innings pitched. Lopez is pitching against the Royals tonight, who are currently last in MLB in runs (75), and are in the bottom four in HRs (19), ISO (.124), and slugging (.363). The Royals are the favorite in this game, more due in part to Danny Duffy than the Royals offense. With that being said, I believe that Lopez can have a strong start, against one of the quietest offenses in the majors.
Mike Minor (TEX @ TOR)
Over/Under: 9
Moneyline: +141
FanDuel: $6,500/DraftKings: $5,900
Minor has had a similar start to Lopez’s. With just a 1-1 start on the season, you might think, “meh.” He’s been able to keep walks at a minimum, with four in 21 innings, and 20 strikeouts during that span. Minor had one start against the Astros, in Houston, where he allowed five earned runs. His other three starts yielded four earned runs altogether. The Blue Jays are very good offensively, but if you’re looking to take a chance, Minor could be able to make decent value with his low price and strikeout upside.
