This year, mock drafting was TOUGH. After a successful Mock Draft last year, having no Combine and no formal visits made it hard to find the right fits of players and teams. Add in a volatile QB class and late minute trade, this was a fun projection to try and work out. I don’t project trades, and often may have players “falling” to a team I think will move up to take them. This is a projection of approximate value of players first, and second trying to make complete drafts for teams. Please give me feedback @ShanePHallam on twitter. See my Top 100 here
Doing a 7-round mock draft is a monster! I definitely approach the first two days of it for accuracy (trying to match teams with players/positions they may draft, team fits, etc).
Round 1
1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence QB/Clemson
Trevor Lawrence is the best QB prospect I have scouted. He will be a Top 10 QB in the NFL in a few years and help lead the Jaguars to the playoffs soon enough. The arm, the experience, the leadership. He has it all. Easy pick.

2. New York Jets: Zach Wilson QB/BYU
Wilson isn’t my 2nd rated QB, but it seems the Jets are infatuated with his downfield pinpoint accuracy. The upside is huge on Wilson, no doubt, but he will need the right structure (and good protection) to reach franchise QB heights.
3. San Francisco 49ers (f/ HOU through MIA): Mac Jones QB/Alabama
I am buying the Mac Jones hype to the 49ers. It’s been there from Day 1 of this trade and he IS a fit ultimately. It seems like a mistake to go for Jones over Fields or Lance, but he can manage the Shannahan offense just find and at least give them what good Jimmy G gave the 49ers.
4. Atlanta Falcons: Kyle Pitts TE/Florida
This is still a prime trade down spot, but with no defensive players worth taking, another dynamic playmaker could be crazy to defend. Arthur Smith loves using 2 TE sets, so both Pitts and Hurst could be utilized still.
5. Cincinnati Bengals: Ja’Marr Chase WR/LSU
Chase is going to be a downright stud. Pair him with another great player in Tee Higgins and the offense could zoom. OL will be the priority in Round 2.
6. Miami Dolphins (f/ PHI): Jaylen Waddle WR/Alabama
This is a tough selection. Sewell is still out there, but the Dolphins need playmakers and Waddle has that tremendous upside with deep speed and YAC. If they don’t move back down, I still expect an Alabama WR.
7. Detroit Lions: Penei Sewell OT/Oregon
Feels like the rebuild of the Lions may just start in the trenches (that is where the knee caps get bitten). Sewell has been working out at RT as well as LT and could be an asset for a team looking to rebuild.
8. Carolina Panthers: Rashawn Slater OT/Northwestern
This feels like a prime spot for a trade down if Fields/Lance are still on the board. If not, Slater would solidify the Panthers offensive line (he can even kick inside) and protect Sam Darnold while clearing holes for CMC.

9. Denver Broncos: Trey Lance QB/North Dakota State
I know they traded a 6th round pick for Teddy Bridgewater, but if Lance is sitting here, would they pass? I think not. If Lance is there, look to move Lock somewhere cheap, 1 year of Teddy, then move to Lance.
10. Dallas Cowboys: Patrick Surtain CB/Alabama
It is the usual pick, but he fits a need AND is best available. The size and athleticism combination will be too much to pass up.
11. New York Giants: Micah Parsons LB/Penn State
Feels like the type of player Gettleman would be into. Gives a stud for the Giants on defense so they can (maybe) focus more on offense for the rest of the draft.
12. Philadelphia Eagles (f/ SF through MIA): Jaycee Horn CB/South Carolina
Another instance of a position of need matching the value of the player. Horn is the best cover corner in this draft, something the Eagles have needed for a long time.
13. Los Angeles Chargers: Alijah Vera-Tucker OL/USC
Vera-Tucker is a stud Guard who can stick at Tackle too. The versatility is ideal for the Chargers who have a big need in protecting Justin Herbert.
14. Minnesota Vikings: Christian Darrisaw OT/Virginia Tech
This feels like a trenches pick, and that LT spot is a BIG hole. If one of the top four offensive linemen are here, the Vikings should move quickly to take them.
15. New England Patriots: Justin Fields QB/Ohio State
The Patriots aren’t getting Fields at 15, but a move up (maybe to #8?) could be in the cards for Belichick to get his next franchise QB. Fields would be a great fit and could sit behind Cam for a few games.
16. Arizona Cardinals: Kadarius Toney WR/Florida
This pick is hard. CB value isn’t there and it may be a tad high for pass rushers. Maybe Arizona can move down and get another offensive weapon in Toney who could do what they hoped Andy Isabella would for this offense.
17. Las Vegas Raiders: Teven Jenkins OT/Oklahoma State
Getting an ass kicker like Jenkins would be exactly what Mayock/Gruden want. He could bring a new physicality to an offensive line that was gutted in the offseason.
18. Miami Dolphins: Devonta Smith WR/Alabama
Miami likely isn’t taking BOTH Alabama WRs, but if they had the chance, that could really remake this offense. I imagine Devonta could be the pick at 6, or even some jostling around. No excuses if Tua gets TWO of his old Bama teammates.
19. Washington Football Team: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah LB/Notre Dame
Washington needs an offensive boost, but LB is the big defensive hole. Owusu-Koramoah would make this one of the best defenses in the NFL and be a terror to play against.
20. Chicago Bears: Caleb Farley CB/Virginia Tech
I think Farley finds himself in the first round somewhere, and the Bears are fine taking those injury risks. Farley has the size and athletic ability, just needs to stay healthy.
21. Indianapolis Colts: Liam Eichenberg OT/Notre Dame
Castonzo’s retirement leaves a big hole for the Colts, and Eichenberg feels like a better fit for the offense than any of the other potential LTs. May not be the usual OT pick for them, but I think it could be a surprise pick on draft night.
22. Tennessee Titans: Elijah Moore WR/Mississippi
This fit is just too good to be true. Moore can slide into the Corey Davis role and give a much more dynamic option even.
23. New York Jets (f/ SEA): Jaelan Phillips DE/Miami
The pass rush value is good here, and Phillips (despite some medical concerns,) is a super athletic pass rusher that would add a new element to the defense.
24. Pittsburgh Steelers: Najee Harris RB/Alabama
If Najee is on the board, the Steelers will take him and bring back a Le’Veon Bell type of run game. If he is gone, they may take the shot on Landon Dickerson.
25. Jacksonville Jaguars (f/ LAR): Trevon Moehrig S/TCU
Safety is such a big need for the Jaguars, getting the top one could really help. Moehrig has it all and is a playmaker, good fit.
26. Cleveland Browns: Greg Newsome CB/Northwestern
Not sure if the Browns can get Newsome at 26, but they have way too many picks and could move up a tad for him.
27. Baltimore Ravens: Kwity Paye DE/Michigan
Paye could be a stand up pass rusher and hit one of the Ravens big needs to get that defense back up to par. Think Terrell Suggs
28. New Orleans Saints: Christian Barmore DT/Alabama
The Saints run defense needs a major upgrade, and Barmore is the best of a weak interior defensive line class. I could even see Washington’s Levi Onwuzurike could be a fit.
29. Green Bay Packers: Zaven Collins LB/Tulsa
The size and athleticism of Collins could have him go much higher, but he doesn’t quite fit a perfect position. The Packers defense is good at utilizing those skills (and you know they will pass on a WR).
30. Buffalo Bills: Travis Etienne RB/Clemson
Moss and Singletary are fine, but Etienne would give a dynamic zone runner to match Josh Allen. Luxury pick, but that is what good teams can do.
31. Baltimore Ravens (f/ KC): Rashod Bateman WR/Minnesota
Bateman gives the Ravens an elite slot option who can get open. The Ravens have been searching for a WR all offseason, and Bateman would be a nice addition.
32. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Gregory Rousseau DE/Miami
Rousseau likely ends up somewhere in the first round and the Bucs would be a dream to get another rotational pass rusher.
