MLB DFS: Targets for 4/12

We have a 10-game slate for MLB DFS tonight, starting at 7:05 p.m. EST. It’s also a Coors-less one and it has been frustrating, to say the very least.

Marcus Stroman (TOR vs. MIL)

Moneyline: -240

Over/Under: 9

FanDuel: $8,600/DraftKings: $9,300

If there’s any indication as to who Vegas likes for the win tonight, it’s the Blue Jays with the moneyline starting at -190 and jumping up to -240 overnight. The run total is a little high at 9, but the implied runs for the Blue Jays are 5 1/2. As a team, the Brewers are striking out the most in the league at a rate of 32%. There should be a couple more opportunities for strikeouts, and since Stroman is a groundball pitcher, the ball should stay in the park.

Shelby Miller (ARI @ SF)

Moneyline: +100

Over/Under: 8

FanDuel: $7,100/DraftKings: $7,400

Play Miller at your own risk. I watched his first start of the season, and he did have his struggles but there’s promise for better performances. Tonight’s game is at AT&T Park, against a Buster Posey-less lineup. Whether it’s the starters or relievers, the Giants’ pitching hasn’t been able to keep them in games. It’s a positive park shift for Miller, and if he’s sharper than his last start I can totally see him derailing the Giants’ offense. Also, Matt Cain‘s pitching for the Giants and the Dbacks should be able to score a few runs.

Freddie Freeman (ATL @ MIA)

FanDuel: $3,600 (1B)/DraftKings: $4,800 (1B)

Depending on how your lineup construction is shaping up, Freeman is a fine play on FD. The Braves are facing Tom Koehler, where Freeman will have the platoon. This game is at Marlins Park, but with other first basemen like Anthony Rizzo and Paul Goldschmidt playing at Wrigley Field and AT&T Park, it’s hard to sort through them if you want to consider park factor.

Robinson Cano (SEA vs. HOU)

FanDuel: $3,400 (2B)/DraftKings: $4,400 (2B)

If you want to pay up at the position, Cano is my guy against Mike Fiers. The time to hit Fiers is early in the season. Over his career, he’s giving up 2.07 HR/9 in March and April. From that stat, as expected, OBP, slugging, and wOBA are also their highest in these months. Fiers’ average fastball velocity wasn’t great in his first outing, and you can’t miss your spots against Cano.

Justin Turner (LAD @ CHI)

FanDuel: $4,100 (3B)/DraftKings: $3,600 (3B)

It looks as though FD’s pricing is recognizing Turner’s production against RHPs. The Dodgers are facing veteran, John Lackey. Turner’s OPS against RHPs for his entire career is .832. He’s not a power hitter so his slugging and ISO aren’t going to be high, but we’re looking to roster a player who produce fantasy points, and that’s what Turner does against RHPs.

Jose Bautista (TOR vs. MIL)

FanDuel: $3,400 (OF)/DraftKings: $4,700 (OF)

Joey Bats has been quiet to start the season, but maybe tonight’s the night for his bat to wake up. With the Blue Jays projected to score a good amount of runs, you would think Bautista needs to be factored in. Brewer’s pitcher, Chase Anderson, has reverse splits and right-handed Jays’ bats should be popular. I’m targeting Bautista for his potential upside here, in hopes that he’ll trend with Anderson’s career 1.49 HR/9 and .500 slugging percentage against RHHs.

Other targets to consider:

Kyle Schwarber (CHC vs. LAD)

FanDuel: $3,500 (OF)/DraftKings: $4,600 (C/OF)

Jake Lamb (ARI @ SF)

FanDuel: $3,400 (3B)/DraftKings: $3,700 (3B)

Carlos Correa (HOU @ SEA)

FanDuel: $3,800 (SS)/DraftKings: $4,600 (SS)

David Peralta (ARI @ SF)

FanDuel: $3,200 (OF)/DraftKings: $3,400 (OF)

Marcell Ozuna (MIA vs. ATL)

FanDuel: $2,900 (OF)/DraftKings: $3,700 (OF)
