Week 3 Two-Start Pitchers
-
Updated: April 14, 2017

Trying to put together rankings for the week 3 two-start pitchers was not a fun experience. There are a lot of bad pitchers who are two start options this week. This has pushed a lot of middling pitcher into very high places and the rankings so you will excused for wincing when you see how high names like Brandon McCarthy and Ivan Nova are. This is probably going to be one of the weakest two start weeks of the season and it may be that you decide not to go with many at all especially in 10 or 12 team leagues.

Tune in each week to hear the team discuss the previous week and take a look forward at what we can hope to expect in the coming week. We will be discussing waiver wire, start sit along with all the major topics surrounding the world of fantasy baseball.

Notes:
- I love all of the top 6 and honestly you are starting them all in an 8 team league.
- Max Scherzer and Yu Darvish are the stand out aces.
- Michael Fulmer and Marcus Stromanare the two with massive upside
- John Lackey is Mr. Safety
- Danny Salazar is a really exciting guy but cannot go deep into games
- Gio Gonzalez and Robbie Ray are where I draw the line for must starts in 10 team leagues
- Brandon McCarthy has looked really solid this year and when one of those start is at the Cubs it holds a lot of gravitas for me.
- I am giving Zack Wheeler the benefit of the doubt here because I think he pitched better than his line was Wednesday night. However, it wouldn’t shock me if they either did two shorter starts or pulled him from his second start given he is mid injury recovery still.
- Mike Leake is my last must start in a 12 teamer. He has been really good so far and I think a predominantly ground ball pitcher can survive Miller Park better than most.
- I’ve gone for Mike Foltynewicz at #15 because I think these are two of the better match-ups in the league right now. He is right on the border of startable in a 12 team league because I am not sure how deep he goes in either start.
- A.J. Griffin gets the nod at 16 because I like anyone facing Oakland and Kansas City right now.
- Shelby Miller is only this high because he gets the Padres once buts honestly I shiver thinking about starting him.
- Blake Snell has been really freaking awful but the raw stuff is good and the guys behind him are pretty yuck. Perhaps the last 14 team guy for me this week.
- Steven Wright is a conundrum wrapped in an enigma because knuckleballers can be so good one outing and horrific the next. He just got lit up by Baltimore but I wouldn’t be shocked if he bounced back this week.
- Yovani Gallardo is not a favourite of mine but if he comes out of a week at home to Miami and on the road in Oakland smelling of roses I will not be surprised in the slightest.
- Jordan Montgomery has decent match-ups that I could see him surviving given the slow starts of the White Sox and Pirates.
- Amir Garrett has been amazing so far but this is going to be a massive test. Baltimore and the Cubs on the road may be the scariest 1-2 punch a pitcher can face right now. Look I am not dropping him but if I can bench him this week in 14 teams or shallower I may well be doing it.
- Ariel Miranda is perhaps my if I want to take a gamble type pick this week. He has decent match-ups and pitches in two pitching friendly parks and those two usually add up to something interesting.
- Chase Anderson was awesome Wednesday but the Cubs on the road and St. Louis in Miller park is something I am avoiding in most leagues.
- At the time of writing the Phillies had yet to name a starter for either of Clay Buchholz scheduled starts but unless they are pushing Velasquez, Nola or Eickhoff in this slot then it is likely they will be close to the bottom of this list.
