Waiver Wire Focus: Week 11

by Evan Hale On November 11, 2013

Christmas sucks. If you are a Christian, the meaning behind it is nice and meaningful, but the holiday that it has been made into… plain out sucks. The whole buying gifts, expecting gifts, awkwardly giving and receiving those gifts. It’s all a pain in the ass. Thanksgiving is 10x better than Christmas. Everyone gets together to eat and watch football. That’s it. No pretentious gift giving. No acting like you love the shitty Tommy Hilfiger

Week 10 Injury Roundup

by Ken Wang On November 11, 2013

Week 10 was very kind to fantasy football players in terms of injuries. Following weeks where we’ve seen player after player go down with serious injuries, it was a nice change of pace. That being said, there were a guys that were dinged up on the Sunday gridiron. Here’s a quick update on them: The number one player in fantasy football Peyton Manning will undergo an MRI on Monday. While the Broncos sealed the victory

Nine games on the slate tonight. I’m a little late at getting at it today so let’s get right into the information. All prices are based on my favorite daily site (Draftkings). Here are the guys I will have in my lineup tonight and ones I will be throwing out from my list of possibilities: Players I Love: Luol Deng – $6,800 - If you watched the Cleveland/Philadelphia double OT game the other night, you realized

Week 10 NFL Spread Picks

Last Week: 1-2 Season to Date: 9-14-1 These spreads are accurate as of 9:30 AM on 11/30/13 from www.sportsbook.com  and are likely to move by gametime. Half points do matter, so hit me up on Twitter if you want my opinion on a play after the line has moved.   Seattle -4.5 This feels like a trap bet. But I watched the Falcons last week in Charlotte and they are struggling. Roddy White is coming back healthy, which

Week 10 Injury Report

by Ken Wang On November 9, 2013

Good evening everyone, welcome to the 10th edition of the weekly injury roundup. Here are the notable injuries that you should be aware of for this upcoming week. Aaron Rodgers has already been ruled out for week 10. Initial reports have him missing from 4-6 weeks. By no means should you drop him, but the earliest he’ll be back is week 13. If you are fighting to get into the playoffs, I’d see what player I

NFC North Week 10 Fantasy Preview

by Luke O'Neill On November 9, 2013

DETROIT LIONS at CHICAGO BEARS   Jay Cutler Smokin’ Jay is ready to return after a 3 week layoff. Expectations still have to be tempered, but he’s traditionally done well against the Lions. A line of 2 TDs and 280-300 yards would be a nice return to action for Cutler.   Matthew Stafford Stafford faces a tough challenge in the Bears’ secondary this week, but we still like him as a top-3 option. He has

CINCINNATI BENGALS at BALTIMORE RAVENS   Joe Flacco Flacco has been disappointing all season, finding himself in exclusively a QB2. Don’t expect that trend to change this week, even with Cincinnati missing key players in the defense. Although he should pass for 250 yards or more, Flacco looks unlikely to record a multi-touchdown game, having done so in less than half of his games so far this season.   Andy Dalton Dalton’s scorching hot streak

AFC West Fantasy Preview: Week 10

Kansas City Chiefs: BYE WEEK   Denver Broncos @ San Diego Chargers (Sunday 4.25pm ET) Philip Rivers will duel with Peyton Manning this week in a game that will challenge both QBs to outscore the other. Rivers has a good matchup and he should surpass the 16 point mark comfortably. Top 5 QB upside this week. Ryan Mathews is not worth starting barring a bye week massacre, he is just too inconsistent and frustratingly unproductive.

Houston Texans @ Arizona Cardinals (Sunday 4.25pm ET) Carson Palmer’s last performance saw him throw just one pick, but he’s thrown a pick in every single game so far, bear that in mind if your league punishes INTs. Against the Texans, who have demoted Ed Reed from first team duties, he likely won’t pass the ball a great deal as Arizona are likely to mould their offence around a running attack, since it was so

Redskins played Thursday night against the Vikings Cowboys @ Saints Tony Romo- For fantasy football players whether Romo turns the ball over in the fourth quarter of a playoff game doesn’t really matter to us. Romo is throwing touchdowns right now which is what we’re interested in. Having said that his matchup against the Saints this week is not an easy one. The Saints rank fifth in pass defense and have only allowed on

On Bye: Patriots, Jets Bills @ Steelers Fred Jackson- Jackson has been the steady hand in the Bills offense this season and although he hasn’t hit the 100 yard mark he has been good for an average of almost 50 yards per game and at least one touchdown. He’s scored in five out of nine games and in week five had a two touchdown performance and has scored in two of his last three

Happy Friday everybody and what a great one it is shaping up to be! Twelve games are on the books for this evening. That, my friends, is a lot of basketball for one night and it means even more opportunity to tinker with your daily lineups. Now, I had a hard time looking at the match ups and deciding on only three players to sit and start. Being from from New Orleans, we have a

AFC South Week 10 Fantasy Preview

Damnit! The Jags are off bye week…..and Justin Blackmon is gone. Well, that leaves only a few guys on that team to talk about. They get to go into Tennessee to take on the Titans in a crazy exciting AFC South match up (….not really). The surprise Rams lead by Captain Kellen head into Indianapolis to take on the powerhouse Colts. Okay they’re not a powerhouse but they’re getting it done. And Houston heads to

Thursday nights in the NBA are usually a little light for my liking. They usually are just a big tease for Friday’s full slate of games. I always prefer the larger slates of games because there are more sleepers to be had and prices are more reasonable. With that being said, there are some intriguing match ups tonight. The #1 story line of the night is going to be Dwight played his former team (the

Value Up-Value Down: Week 10

by Ricky Sanders On November 7, 2013

“What goes up must come down,” is what the band Chicago taught me. Whether it be the the stock you just purchased, your personal fitness level around age 20 or the value of your fantasy football players, the saying is true. Now, more than ever, properly valuing your players can literally be the difference of you winning or losing significant amounts of money (assuming you are a degenerate like the rest of us). We are

Two prime time games this week for the NFC South….one is going to be a shootout and one is going to be….well Florida football teams trying to compete at who can screw up less. Well, Miami is at least half decent. A couple of power house defenses in San Fran, and the Seahawks head on the road to take on the (terrible) Falcons! Daily Fantasy Basketball Notes 11/6

by Ricky Sanders On November 6, 2013

Yesterday I came to two conclusions when it comes to daily fantasy basketball. Number one: always go with your first instinct. Habitually, I will set my lineup, then over-think the situation, revisit my lineup and end up changing the original to one that scores significantly less points. There will be no more of that. The second conclusion I came to, and it is a lot less broad than the first, is that Jonas Valanciunas is

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly Report: Week 9

by Luke Taylor On November 5, 2013

“You see, in this world there’s two types of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.” Oddly enough, this immortal quote from Clint Eastwood, a.k.a “Blondie”, in “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” also applies to fantasy football. You see, in our fake little world there’s two types of people: those that play IDP and those who don’t. If you find yourself getting all warm and tingly inside

Well, ladies and gentlemen, the first full week of basketball is in the books. There have been some pleasant surprises (all aboard the Michael Carter-Williams train!), while there have been some duds already (I’m looking at you Kevin Durant and Larry Sanders). But fear not fantasy fans, there is almost all of the season left to be played. We’re still in the first handful of games and a lot can happen between now and then.

Bowel movements are my favorite form of comedy. I will send a Snap Chat 100% of the time while I take a poop. Anytime, any place, any dump. Sometimes I will pan from my pants all the way up to my distressed face, or maybe a photo of the guy’s shoes in the stall next to me. Maybe this week it’ll be a snap of my actual poop with a “Have a good day” message

Ah, the refreshing start of a new week. We get a clean slate in our weekly leagues and we now have plenty of data to base off of in daily leagues. The first week came with plenty of surprises: Kevin Love leads the NBA in scoring, Michael Carter-Williams hit the NBA by storm and Derrick Rose was downright awful. In daily leagues, however, we can’t focus on the past. What happened last game should have

BYES: Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers   Tennessee Titans @ St Louis Rams (Sunday 1.00pm ET) First of all I’ll apologise for writing about Bradford instead of Clemons last week… Hopefully you’ll not have started Clemons! Kellen Clemons actually had a reasonable debut for the Rams but couldn’t get into the endzone. A couple of picks he shouldn’t have thrown wouldn’t have prevented his team from an upset if they’d found the endzone just once

Denver Broncos: BYE WEEK   Kansas City Chiefs @ Buffalo Bills (Sunday 1.00pm ET)   Alex Smith will be looking to lead his Chiefs to another win, and he’s facing a team that other QBs love. Smith isn’t a weekly starter, but his matchup this week makes him potentially a top 10 QB against a team that has allowed multiple TDs to all their opposing QBs this year. AFC and NFC North Preview Week 9

The Cincinnati Bengals played Thursday night, as their hot streak was snapped by the Dolphins. Andy Dalton came back to earth with a huge thump, with 3 interceptions, a fumble, and no touchdowns to go with a respectable 338 passing yards. A.J. Green continues to prove he’s one of the very best players in the league with 11 receptions (a career high) for 128 yards. He also had 19 targets. NINETEEN. Green is on pace

Josh Gordon will be suspended for the entire season

The year long suspension for Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has been upheld per multiple media reports. The potential for a reduced suspension seemed somewhat realistic with a delay in decision on his appeal. The Browns offense will take a huge hit without him. Owners in dynasty leagues may want to make a move for Gordon who has number one wide receiver upside. The price will never be lower than after with this news.

Brian Hoyer named starter over Johnny Manziel

The Cleveland Browns have named Brain Hoyer their starting quarterback for week one. This may or may not be a shock to everyone. Johnny Manziel will likely start at some point this season. When that it happens depends on how well Hoyer and the Browns do to begin the season. Hoyer helped Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron be fantasy stars last season. Manziel taking over shouldn’t hurt the pass catchers in this offense.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Charles Sims will undergo Surgery

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Charles Sims will undergo surgery on the ankle he injured in practice. Sims is expected to be out for 12-14 weeks. This should be good news for Doug Martin owners, as Sims seemed the likely contender to carries in Tampa Bay. Bobby Rainey, Mike James and Jeff Demps are all vying for carries as well. Sims could be a worth add from the waiver wire depending on how the early part of the season goes.

Marcell Ozuna

Ozuna went 2-4 with two RBI, and a home run. His second game in a row with a HR. Ozuna had been struggling, but it may be possible the struggles are over. He is still producing some good HR numbers, if he can cut down on the strikeouts things could turn around for him.

Chris Sale

Sale came off the DL in a big way Thursday night, throwing six shutout innings with ten strikeouts. Sale had a no- hitter going into the sixth, but with two outs Zolio Almonte singled to center to break it up. According to Sale and manager Robin Ventura, they had discussed before the game that even if Sale had been throwing perfect game he was not pitching more than six innings.

Dallas Keuchel

Keuchel dominated again Monday night against the Angels. Throwing almost his second complete game in consecutive outings. Keuchel threw 8.2 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 earned runs, and he stroke out 8. Keuchel has been very tough, not allowing no more than 4 runs in his nin starts. He will look to continue his dominance on Saturday against Seattle.

Sebastian Coates, Sunderland – DEF

The Black Cats made a pair of signings on deadline day for season-long loans. Coates joins from Liverpool and Ricardo Alvarez from Inter Milan. Coates struggled to get any pitch time in his three seasons at Liverpool, making only 24 appearances including just six starts. The defender suffered a major knee injury last summer, but should be set for plenty of pitch time at Sunderland.  Alvarez was part of the 2014 Argentina squad that lost 0-1 to Germany in the final and picked up 14 goals in 90 appearances for Inter. Hatem Ben Arfa, Hull City – MID

Club manager Steve Bruce was quite busy on the day, signing four players including Uruguay International Abel Hernandez, Gaston Ramirez from Southampton and Mohammed Diame from West Ham United. Ben Arfa and Ramirez are season-long loan deals while Hernandez and Diame both inked themselves three year deals with their new club. Source: foxsports.com

George Boyd, Burnley – MID

The newly promoted club made a trio of moves on deadline day including Boyd coming over from Hull City on a three year deal. Boyd had preformed well at Hull, but failed to earn any consistent playing time. Now he will bolster the Clarets midfield position. Michael Keane joins the defensive line after making only five appearances for Manchester United, most recently playing in the 1-1 draw between the two clubs last week. Nathaniel Chalobah joins Burnley from Chelsea on a loan deal and despite not having any Premiership time, the midfielder has impressed while on loan at multiple clubs. Source: …
