Sebastian Coates, Sunderland – DEF

The Black Cats made a pair of signings on deadline day for season-long loans. Coates joins from Liverpool and Ricardo Alvarez from Inter Milan. Coates struggled to get any pitch time in his three seasons at Liverpool, making only 24 appearances including just six starts. The defender suffered a major knee injury last summer, but should be set for plenty of pitch time at Sunderland.  Alvarez was part of the 2014 Argentina squad that lost 0-1 to Germany in the final and picked up 14 goals in 90 appearances for Inter. Ben Arfa will join Hull City on a season long loan deal with Newcastle United that required a deadline extension of two hours to get the deal done. Club manager Steve Bruce was quite busy on the day, signing four players including Uruguay International Abel Hernandez, Gaston Ramirez from Southampton and Mohammed Diame from West Ham United. Ben Arfa and Ramirez are season-long loan deals while Hernandez and Diame both inked themselves three year deals with their new club. Source: foxsports.com

The newly promoted club made a trio of moves on deadline day including Boyd coming over from Hull City on a three year deal. Boyd had preformed well at Hull, but failed to earn any consistent playing time. Now he will bolster the Clarets midfield position. Michael Keane joins the defensive line after making only five appearances for Manchester United, most recently playing in the 1-1 draw between the two clubs last week. Nathaniel Chalobah joins Burnley from Chelsea on a loan deal and despite not having any Premiership time, the midfielder has impressed while on loan at multiple clubs. Source: …

Danny Welbeck, Arsenal – FWD

Arsenal made a deal at the transfer window death to get help at forward after the loss of Olivier Giroud to an ankle injury. Welbeck will come over on a deal that is said to be long term from the rival Manchester United for a price of 16m. With the signing of Radamel Falcao, Welbeck was told he had the option to leave United. Arsenal were not originally expected to deal to replace Giroud, but stayed active on deadline day. Daley Blind, Manchester United – MID

After bolstering the front line with the signing of Radamel Falcao, United made a play for Dutch star Blind for help where they need it most, defense. Blind will come to Old Trafford for a price tag of 14m from Ajax. Blind has the ability to play multiple postions as a defensive midfielder and as a left- or center-back with the ability to make an impact. His talent was showcased at the 2014 World Cup where his lead all defenders with three assists and finished second in chances created with a total of eight (Marcos Rojo had 9). Source: @Squawka

Radamel Falcao, Manchester United – FWD

United have confirmed a deadline day deal for Columbian striker Falcao on a deal said to be worth about 10m. The deal is a loan for the season that includes an option to buy for around 55m. Falcao is under contract with Monaco until 2018.  Falcao missed out on the 2014 World Cup with a ruptured ACL, but in Ligue 1 play this season so far, in three appearances he has already picked up two goals on three shots. After conceding a goal to Arsenal just 20 minutes in, it took only two minutes for Leicester City to equalize. Ulloa powered a header off a Jeff Schlupp cross past the keeper, good for the Argentine’s second goal on the season at an impressive 40% conversion rate. The goal was also enough to keep a streak of 17 consecutive home matches in which Leicester has scored at least one goal. Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal – MID

After scoring his first goal earlier this week in the Champions League qualifying match against Besiktas, Sanchez carried right over into Premier League play by picking up his first goal with his first shot on target. Yaya Sanogo, getting only his second Premier League start, took the initial shot on goal, but as the ball deflected off the keeper Sanchez was there to bury it. Chelsea have completed a move for their third striker of the transfer window in signing Remy from QPR. Remy will join The Blues on a £10.5m transfer fee. Playing for Newcastle United last season, on loan from QPR, Remy picked up 14 goals in 26 appearances. A total that equals former Chelsea strikers Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o. Andreas Weimann, Aston Villa – FWD

It was Gabby Agbonlahor’s quick turn and shot that got Villa on the board, but Weimann ended up with the match-winner in a 2-1 defeat of Hull City at Villa Park. The victory also keeps Villa’s unbeaten start to the season alive, along with keeping three consecutive clean sheets to start the season for the first time in their PL history. Weimann has now contributed on all three of Villa’s goals, scoring two and assisting on the goal to Agbonlahor’s today. Villa are the only PL team who have yet to concede a goal. Josh Gordon will be suspended for the entire season

The year long suspension for Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has been upheld per multiple media reports. The potential for a reduced suspension seemed somewhat realistic with a delay in decision on his appeal. The Browns offense will take a huge hit without him. Owners in dynasty leagues may want to make a move for Gordon who has number one wide receiver upside. The price will never be lower than after with this news.


Brian Hoyer named starter over Johnny Manziel

The Cleveland Browns have named Brain Hoyer their starting quarterback for week one. This may or may not be a shock to everyone. Johnny Manziel will likely start at some point this season. When that it happens depends on how well Hoyer and the Browns do to begin the season. Hoyer helped Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron be fantasy stars last season. Manziel taking over shouldn’t hurt the pass catchers in this offense.


Tampa Bay Buccaneers Charles Sims will undergo Surgery

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Charles Sims will undergo surgery on the ankle he injured in practice. Sims is expected to be out for 12-14 weeks. This should be good news for Doug Martin owners, as Sims seemed the likely contender to carries in Tampa Bay. Bobby Rainey, Mike James and Jeff Demps are all vying for carries as well. Sims could be a worth add from the waiver wire depending on how the early part of the season goes.

Ozuna went 2-4 with two RBI, and a home run. His second game in a row with a HR. Ozuna had been struggling, but it may be possible the struggles are over. He is still producing some good HR numbers, if he can cut down on the strikeouts things could turn around for him.


Chris Sale

Sale came off the DL in a big way Thursday night, throwing six shutout innings with ten strikeouts. Sale had a no- hitter going into the sixth, but with two outs Zolio Almonte singled to center to break it up. According to Sale and manager Robin Ventura, they had discussed before the game that even if Sale had been throwing perfect game he was not pitching more than six innings.


Dallas Keuchel

Keuchel dominated again Monday night against the Angels. Throwing almost his second complete game in consecutive outings. Keuchel threw 8.2 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 earned runs, and he stroke out 8. Keuchel has been very tough, not allowing no more than 4 runs in his nin starts. He will look to continue his dominance on Saturday against Seattle.
