IDP Central – Tackle leaders, LB notes, and injuries

  1. Sean Lee is expected to miss at least a few weeks with a nagging hamstring injury. Leighton Vander Esch looks to take his spot. Pick up Vander Esch if you can. He has 21 total tackles this season, while middle linebacker Jaylon Smith has 22 total tackles, despite Smith playing 99 more snaps than Vander Esch (178 to 79).
  2. Falcons linebacker Duke Riley continues to be an IDP weapon while the All-Pro Deion Jones is sidelined with a foot injury. Riley accumulated 12 total tackles against the Saints on Sunday.
  3. Browns linebacker Christian Kirksey returned to practice today. Expect him to play week 4 against the Raiders.
  4. Despite Reuben Foster and Malcolm Smith’s return, Fred Warner continues to be the most productive LB on the 49ers roster. Warner led the team with 11 total tackles.
  5. For the second straight week the Bears rookie 1st round pick, Roquan Smith, played over 80% of the defensive snaps. I consider him a LB2/LB3 for the rest of the season.
