College Football: Week 3 Picks Against the Spread

Its already time for Week 3 of the College Football season! This slate features some compelling contests after a Week 2 that left a little to be desired. Ohio State is headed to Jerry World, LSU goes on the road against Auburn, and a PAC 12 showdown between Utah and Washington.

Let’s make some picks against the spread!

Texas Longhorns -3 vs USC Trojans

This game may scare many bettors and push them towards other games but I LOVE the Longhorns in this spot. Texas is home again this week looking for its first cover of the season. Southern Cal heads on the road for a second straight week after getting manhandled by Stanford and not scoring a single TD.

Per Chris Fallica of ESPN, in five games as an dog away from home under Clay Helton, USC is 1-4 both ATS and SU. The win came in 2016 at UW. In two games last year in this spot, USC lost by 35 at Notre Dame and by 17 in the Cotton Bowl vs Ohio State. USC is 1-8 ATS as a dog under Helton.

Texas is getting 66% of the money in this contest despite getting only 45% of the best. Herman and company get a huge win at home to reignite the fanbase.

Pick: Texas -3

Troy Trojans +10.5 at Nebraska Cornhuskers

It has been a rough start to the season for Scott Frost and the Nebraska Corn Huskers. They had their opener cancelled due to weather. They played their first game at home against Colorado and looked very underwhelming. While I expect Scott Frost to get it going sooner than later, this year is not the year.

I’m back on the Trojans despite letting me down in Week 1. That loss was bad but it was against a Boise State team that has been incredibly impressive. The Broncos look like a team that can go undefeated and potentially make the College Football Playoff. More on them soon.

Troy is seeing 58% of the money in this contest and only 35% of the bets. The line has moved in favor of us Troy backers as we are now getting 10.5. Although that is where the line has settled after ballooning up to +12 (where I got it). I expect this game to be a close one that Nebraska probably wins but Troy will keep it around a field goal.

Pick: Troy +10.5

Boise State +3 at Oklahoma State

Speaking of the College Football Playoff darkhorse and seemingly best option out of the Group of Five, Boise State Broncos are ready to make some national noise. This game against Oklahoma State is critical if they want any chance at playing in January.

The Broncos are getting more bets 49% ro 41% but they are also getting more money 67% to 33%

Mike Gundy doesn’t have the quality of team we have seen in previous seasons. They still have Justice Hill making plays but the Bronco defense should slow him down.

Not only am I taking the +3 but I have Broncos getting the outright W. Sprinkle that ML.

Pick: Boise State ON THE FIELD

Bonus Picks:

  • Utah +6.5
  • Purdue+6
  • Texas Tech +1.5
