Fantasy Baseball Recap: Shohei Ohtani Goes Yard!
- Updated: April 4, 2018

Tuesday’s MLB action was packed with big MLB moments, fantasy baseball impactful nuggets, and Shoehei Ohtani’s first major league home run. Let’s take a look at the notable moments from the Tuesday slate.
Shohei Ohtani Goes Yard
The Angels Shohei Ohtani hit his first major league home run on Tuesday. The struggles of spring may have caused some hesitation with fantasy owners but the three run bomb was certainly a welcomed sight. After his impressive pitching performance on Sunday he is definitely giving everyone reasons to be excited.

The Dark Knight Returns?
Is the old Matt Harvey back? The former ace looked strong in his season debut going five inning and allowing one hit. He tallied five strikeouts and only 1 walk. If he can build up his arm to go deeper in games and maintain a strikeout per inning, Harvey could once again be a fantasy difference maker. He is available in over 50% of ESPN and Yahoo leagues. If you are in need of pitching help and flexibility on your bench, he is absolutely worth a speculative add. Bear in mind this could blow up at any moment.
Jack Flaherty | P | St. Louis Cardinals
Jack Flaherty came out and made a huge statement in his first start of the 2018 season. The 22 year old didn’t go deep in the game, only finishing 5 innings. That said, he was incredibly impressive racking up nine strikeouts with one walk and only allowing one earned run. He is widely available, only owned in 33% of Yahoo leagues and 15% in ESPN. While I would not expect these kind of monster performances the rest of the way, Flaherty is absolutely worth adding and using in the right match ups.
St. Louis Cardinals Bullpen
Dominic Leone got his first save opportunity of the season and quickly fumbled it. He allowed 2 ninth inning home runs to Christian Yelich and Ryan Braun. This was after Tyler Lyons came in and gave up two earned. While the imploding bullpen is bad for Cardinal fans, this is good news for anyone who owns Greg Holland. He is expected to join the team on Monday and if the rest of the week goes this poorly he should slide right into the 9th inning role.

Jake Lamb to the DL The Arizona Diamondbacks
Jake Lamb is headed to the DL with a sprained AC joint. This is unfortunate news for the third baseman who has been solid to start the season hitting almost .280 with 5 RBI. Manager Torey Lovullo hopes it’s only 10 days but we shall see. Luckily for the Dbacks Daniel Descalso and David Peralta stepped up in his place. The humidor is clearly having its way with run production.

Other Nuggets
Josh Reddick unloads the bases with a Grand Slam, giving the Astros a 10-5 lead heading into the 8th. He has 6 RBIs tonight. Well done @RealJoshReddick! pic.twitter.com/8wnmHVb86C — Joseph Gonzales (@joseph11ag) April 4, 2018
#Royals Jake Junis was great today with 8 shutout innings in a 1-0 win over the #Tigers. But, it’s gonna be a long season if they have the shutout the opponents to win
