Clayton Kershaw (LAD @ SD)

Moneyline: -270

Over/Under: 7

FanDuel: $12,100/DraftKings: $13,500

It’s Kershaw Day! While it’s an obvious choice, we can’t help but be excited that he’s back in the rotation again. He gets this start against the Padres, so it seems like a no-brainer. The Dodgers are riding a five-game losing streak, and Kershaw is the perfect guy to get them out of this rut. The Dodgers’ batters (especially their left-handed batters) match up well against Padres’ starter, Dinelson Lamet. Kershaw should be fully healthy since there was no reason to rush him with the his team so far ahead in the NL West. It’s a steep price to pay, but if you don’t have at least some exposure to him you may be left out.

Kevin Gausman (BAL vs. TOR)

Moneyline: -175

Over/Under: 9 1/2

FanDuel: $8,700/DraftKings: $8,700

Gausman’s been frustrating, to say the least. While walks and homeruns are an issue, his K/9 has remained decent. You never know when Gausman will come through, making him a GPP option. The Blue Jays’ offense is not what it used to be, Camden Yards is hitter-friendly, and Gausman’s sporadic success makes his start intriguing. With batters like Jose Bautista, Josh Donaldson, and Miguel Montero having K-rates higher than 22%, strikeouts could help Gausman exceed his value. On a night where pitching leaves us with more questions than answers, it wouldn’t hurt to hedge a little and throw some Gausman lineups out there, just in case.

Mike Clevinger (CLE @ DET)

Moneyline: -166

Over/Under: 9

FanDuel: $8,500/DraftKings: $8,200

Clevinger is a pitcher with high strikeout potential, but many will look at game logs and pass up on him tonight. While he doesn’t have a few great starts in a row, this is DFS, and that’s not what you need. He’s pitching in Detroit tonight, who just traded away Justin Upton and Justin Verlander. It’s gloomy there, and while this isn’t based on statistics, I think there’s an advantage to be had with playing off of a team who is obviously throwing in the towel. The ballpark itself is much better for Clevinger, as it doesn’t allow for much homeruns. If he allows baserunners, at least there’s less likely of a chance he’ll get hurt by the long ball.
