MLB DFS: 5/16 Pitching Notes
-
Updated: May 16, 2017

There’s a full day of games, but we’ll be focusing on the 13 night games for tonight’s MLB DFS slate with some pitching notes.

Zack Greinke (ARI vs. NYM)

Moneyline: -170
Over/Under: 9
FanDuel: $10,300/DraftKings: $11,000
Does Greinke have his groove back? It seems like it, and should be successful against the Mets tonight. He’s only had one bad start, and has strung together five straight quality starts with at least six strikeouts in each of them. This is also one of the higher scoring games of the night, but majority of those runs should come from the D-backs bats, specifically right-handed bats against Mets’ LHP, Tommy Milone. Greinke’s striking out more batters, and giving up less walks and homeruns in comparison to his first year in Arizona. It looks like he’s healthy and it would be great to have him as a consistent target as pitching does get thin at times.
J.C. Ramirez (LAA vs. CWS)
Moneyline: -180
Over/Under: 7 1/2
FanDuel: $7,200/DraftKings: $6,600
Ramirez was inserted into the Angels rotation from the bullpen and many of us didn’t give it much thought. He’s performed fairly well in some of his starts, and it’s safe to add him to a list of considerations in a plus matchup. I believe we can target him against the White Sox today, especially with his prices on FD and DK. Ramirez’s strikeouts have taken a bit of a dip, but we could see it climb back up tonight. The White Sox strikeout a fair amount, and their offense hasn’t gotten it together. This game being in Anaheim is an advantage for Ramirez and will definitely be in my lineups.
Eduardo Rodriguez (BOS @ STL)
Moneyline: -115
Over/Under: 8
FanDuel: $7,800/DraftKings: $8,000
Rodriguez is having a pretty good season so far. The most he’s pitched is six innings, but we should see him go deeper into games as the season goes on. He’s usually a sure thing for at least five strikeouts, which is fine for the price you’re paying but you’ll also want the win. This should be a close one against the Cardinals, with a lower game total as well. Rodriguez has the upper hand there, in my opinion, with this game being in St. Louis. Hopefully, having to bat doesn’t interfere with his pitching, but I think Rodriguez can keep the Cardinals batters off-balanced.
Andrew Triggs (OAK @ SEA)
Moneyline: -110
Over/Under: 8 1/2
FanDuel: $8,200/DraftKings: $8,100
Out of seven game starts this season, Triggs has had only one bad one. Looking at the Vegas numbers, this game looks like a close one but I’m choosing the A’s side of it. Chase De Jong, is taking the mound for the Mariners, and I like the A’s bats against him tonight. De Jong has a swinging strike rate of 4.6%. He only has three game starts this season, but he hasn’t struck out more than three batters in each, and has give up six runs in two of those starts. Triggs will probably go overlooked today because his price is still over $8k on both sites and could make for a nice GPP play.
Other pitchers to roster:
Dallas Keuchel (HOU @ MIA) FanDuel: $10,900/DraftKings: $11,800
Yu Darvish (TEX vs. PHI) FanDuel: $10,600/DraftKings: $11,300
Rich Hill (LAD @ SF) FanDuel: $8,700/DraftKings: $8,700
Thank you for reading, and good luck with your picks!
