NFL Picks Against the Spread: Week 5, 2016
-
Updated: October 6, 2016

Week 4 in NFL Picks Against the Spread was an absolute disaster going a hellacious 0-5 bringing my season total to 8-12. While it’s been a rough start to the NFL season, there is still plenty of time to rebound and get headed in the right direction. Let’s find five winners and make some money!
San Francisco 49ers +3.5 vs Arizona Cardinals
This is a phenomenal spot for the San Francisco 49ers. They welcome a Cardinal team to town that hasn’t looked great thus far this season and Drew Stanton will be under center. Stanton has 66% career completion percentage with 12 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. The 49er defense is much better at home and should be strong even without Navorro Bowman. Will this game be pretty, No? But can San Francisco keep it close and cover? Absolutely!

Pick: 49ers +3.5
Detroit Lions +3 vs Philadelphia Eagles
The Carson Wentz hype train is going crazy and is about to get derailed. The betting public is all over the Eagles this week with 77% of the money coming in on them. Philadelphia is coming into this game off of a bye week is a little intimidating but I expect the Lions to play well in this spot. Their offense has explosive potential led by Matthew Stafford and Marvin Jones. This Eagle team is still led by a rookie in Carson Wentz and the other shoe will drop eventually. Take the Lions and thank me later.
Pick: Lions +3
Denver Broncos +5.5 vs Atlanta Falcons
A week ago the Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons laid the wood on the Carolina Panthers. Ryan threw for over 500 yards including 300 of which went to Julio Jones. The Broncos also were impressive but lost quarterback Trevor Siemian. That said the Broncos are absolutely the right side in this spot. From the Broncos perspective the difference between Siemian and rookie Paxton Lynch is minimal. The offense should be able to move the ball of this Falcons defense especially if they get C.J. Anderson going. The Falcons are not as good as they have looked to start the season. Opposing quarterbacks are only throwing for an average of 170 yards per game. They have also allowed only two passing touchdowns and have 5 interceptions. The Broncos defense is far too talented and their offense will do enough to cover this number at home this week.
Pick: Denver +5.5
Cincinnati Bengals -1 at Dallas Cowboys
The Bengals have been inconsistent on both sides of the ball thus far this season but I love the Bengals in this spot. Their defense is improving as the season goes along and the return of Vontaze Burfict makes a huge impact. They’ll have to bring their best effort if they want to slow down Zeke Elliott. If they can do that it should go a long way to slowing down this offense. I expect the Bengal offense to play will in this spot. A.J. Green has been incredible thus far and should produce in this spot. Take the Bengals to win and cover in Big D.
Pick: Bengals -1
New York Giants +7 at Green Bay Packers
The Giants are an interesting spot this week against the Green Bay Packers. They were locked down a week ago against the Minnesota Vikings who may have the best defense in the NFL. This week Eli Manning and company get a much less difficult task. The Packers will be without Sam Shields again this week which is a big loss for a secondary that is not world beaters to begin with. I expect their offense to look much better in this spot. The Packers are coming off of a bye which will prove a difficult task for this Giants defense especially. I expect them to step up and keep this game close enough to stay inside the touchdown. Take the G Men on the road!
Pick: Giants +7
