Madison Bumgarner (SF @ SD)
Moneyline: -210
Over/Under: 7 1/2
FanDuel: $11,900/DraftKings: $11,100
Bumgarner’s last start was more than dominating, and he’ll look to continue that against the Padres. Petco and the Padres have been producing more offense, but Bumgarner has pretty good career numbers against the Padres and at Petco, with his last start there being a complete game with 11 strike outs.
Justin Verlander (DET vs. KC)
Moneyline: -140
Over/Under: 8 1/2
FanDuel: $9,000/DraftKings: $9,400
The Royals offense is not what they once were, and Verlander been decent this season. Their last meeting in Kansas City, Verlander did give up four earned runs, but was still able to get the win. Some of his better outings have been at home, and seven days of rest could make for a strong start tonight.
Other pitchers to consider: Carlos Carrasco (CLE @ MIN), Stephen Strasburg (WAS vs. PIT), and Jaime Garcia (STL vs. MIA).
Catchers
Wilson Ramos (WAS vs. PIT)
FanDuel: $3,600/DraftKings: $4,200
Ramos isn’t being talked about enough for the numbers he’s putting up this season. He’s just 2 home runs shy of tying last year’s mark, striking out less, walking more, with increased power and contact. The Nationals are facing southpaw, Francisco Liriano. Combine having the platoon against a pitcher who may get moved to the bullpen, with Ramos’ increased offense, Ramos is the catcher you want at a hefty price
Other catchers to consider: Victor Martinez (DET vs. KC), and Jonathan Lucroy (MIL @ CIN).
First base
David Ortiz (BOS @ NYY)
FanDuel: $4,000/DraftKings: $5,300
It’s no surprise that Ortiz would be the second highest priced at the position on DraftKings with this game being played at Yankee Stadium. Michael Pineda will be on the mound for the Yankees, who has not pitched well at all this season, and is prone to giving up home runs.
Other first basemen to consider: Paul Goldschmidt (ARI vs. LAD), Joey Votto (CIN vs. MIL), and Mark Texeira (NYY vs. BOS).
Second base
Robinson Cano (SEA vs. HOU)
FanDuel: $3,500/DraftKings: $4,400
Cano looks like a good value on both sites because of his price. The Mariners are facing Doug Fister, which gives Cano the platoon. With Fister giving up more offensive numbers to left-handed bats, other Mariners from that side of the plate can be considered.
Other second basemen to consider: Jose Altuve (HOU @ SEA), and Jason Kipnis (CLE @ MIN).
THE CANADIAN PRESS – Nathan Denette
Third base
Josh Donaldson (TOR @ OAK)
FanDuel: $4,600/DraftKings: $5,600
Probably priced out of reach on DraftKings, Donaldson is a fun play tonight against his former team. The A’s are sending Daniel Mengden to the mound, who has struggled in his last couple of games. He has given up a home run in four out of six starts and we know Donaldson can hit a home run anywhere.
Other third basemen to consider: Todd Frazier (CWS @ LAA), Jake Lamb (ARI vs. LAD), and Jose Reyes (NYM @ PHI – SS eligible on DK).
Short stop
Francisco Lindor (CLE @ MIN)
FanDuel: $4,000/DraftKings: $4,100
Lindor looks like he’s fairly priced at the position, and is bringing a six-game hitting streak against Ervin Santana. He’ll have the platoon tonight and has been solid from each side of the plate this season. From the left side of the plate this season, Lindor has an OBP of .366, .460 slugging percentage, .827 OPS, and .352 wOBA.
Other shortstops to consider: Brandon Crawford (SF @ SD), and Brad Miller (TB vs. BAL).
Outfield
Yoenis Cespedes (NYM @ PHI)
FanDuel: $4,000/DraftKings: $5,200
Hopefully, Cespedes is back to being healthy and start off the second half of the season strong. The Mets are facing off against Jeremy Hellickson, whose splits are similar between handedness, so not having the platoon shouldn’t be a problem for Cespedes. Against right-handed pitchers for his career, Cespedes has a .501 slugging percentage, .222 ISO, .315 BABIP , and .351 wOBA.
Jayson Werth (WAS vs. PIT)
FanDuel: $3,500/DraftKings: $3,600
Werth is having a great season against left-handed pitchers, which makes him as close to a must-play as there could be if you consider his price on both sites, especially on DraftKings. For the season against southpaws, Werth has a slugging percentage of .663, 1.130 OPS, .275 ISO, .441 BABIP, and .475 wOBA. This lines him up for a terrific matchup against Liriano.
Other outfielders to consider: Adam Duvall (CIN vs. MIL), Giancarlo Stanton (MIA @ STL), Mookie Betts (BOS @ NYY), Seth Smith (SEA vs. HOU), Lonnie Chisenhall (CLE @ MIN), and Trayce Thompson (LAD @ ARI).
