Saints Coby Fleener

Andrew Weber – USA TODAY Sports

Where I’m Higher

Coby Fleener

One the names I was surprised to be higher on was Coby Fleener. He came in as 7th tight end and my fellow rankers had him in the double digits. The move to New Orleans is one of the few spots that would make me more excited about him. He gets a chance to take a prime role in the offense, occupying the middle of the field hopefully with room created by Brandin Cooks. The drafting of Michael Thomas out of Ohio State could hamper Fleener’s 2016 outlook especially when it comes to red zone targets. The five-year $36 million contract the Saints dished out shows that he should be a major part of the offense this season. If Fleener can match or improve on what Ben Watson did a season ago, finishing as the 8th tight end, he should have a strong season.

Where I’m Lower

Dwayne Allen

Oddly enough its Fleecers former teammate that I am much lower on than my fellow rankers. I put him at 21 overall where my fellow rankers had him at an average of 15th overall. While I like the talent, Allen has played 16 games once in his four seasons.  He played 13 games each of the past two seasons. I love the return of Andrew Luck will surely help T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief and the Colts offense as a whole. Allen has never been highly targeted during his time in the NFL including 50 in 2014 and 29 in 2015. I think there will be weeks where Allen can be useful but there are too many questions for me between health and work load. I’ll target Marcellus Bennett, Zach Miller, and Richard Rodgers instead.

For more tight ends I like that can be found in drafts check out my piece on Fake Pigskin.
