-
Updated: June 20, 2016

Welcome to Week 12 where there is a clear distinction between usable two-start pitchers and guys that must be avoided. The top 8 is composed of a who’s who of aces including Clayton Kershaw, Madison Bumgarner, Jose Fernandez, Stephen Strasburg and more. The second tier is usable guys with some to a ton of risk. A few of whom are widely available options this week that are worth a look as well. Everyone after 24 are too risky to use because of skill or scary match-ups. Lets check out Week 12’s two-start options.

Low Owned two-start options
Jhoulys Chacin – 3% Owned on Yahoo
Fake Pigskin Exclusive: Join Monkey Knife Fight and Get an Instant 100% Deposit Match PLUS a Free $5 Game!
You can look at the last couple outing for Jhoulys Chacin and totally write him off but this week he intrigues me. His first start is against the Houston Astros who lead MLB in strikeouts. He has a double-digit strikeout performance in his recent history and could easily get close to it again. He then gets a home start against an Oakland A’s team that has been struggling at the plate. They are bottom five in runs and OPS in the month of June. There is risk using Chacin but he has too much potential to be ignored.
Jeff Locke – 3% Owned in Yahoo
Jeff Locke is another widely available pitcher and for good reason. He allowed 11 earned in his last two starts. However this week he has a golden opportunity to rebound. He faces two teams that struggle against left-handed pitching. The Giants are 19th in OPS versus lefties and have struck out the seventh most times. He then gets the Dodgers who are only behind the Phillies and Braves for worst OPS against lefties. The best part is both of these match-ups are home games. If you need two-start help this week, you could do much worse than Locke.
James Paxton – 40% Owned in Yahoo
James Paxton is my favorite two start option that is available in more the 50% of Yahoo leagues. Since joining the rotation he has been a much different pitcher. He has consistently displayed 100 mile an hour plus fastballs. He has 29 strikeouts and only 6 walks in his four outings. This week he is on the road in his first start against a Tigers team that can strikeout with the best of them including an impressive 10 times against another lefty, the aforementioned Chacin. Then he faces a Cardinal team at home that is in the bottom third of average and OPS against left-handed pitching.
