QB Streamers Week 5

Oakland Raiders Derek Carr

Week 4 was a good week for QB streamers. If you pulled the trigger on Mitchell Trubisky you hit the jackpot as he returned a six touchdown, 43-fantasy point week. Joe Flacco was reasonably successful to the tune of 22-points and it only was not more because the Steelers crumbled offensively in the second half of that game. Andy Dalton had a 25-point which really should have been so much more against that Falcons defense. Eli Manning was the biggest disappointment, failing to dominate that Saints defense the way others have done. Lesson learnt. Do not trust Eli Manning.

This week we have streamable quarterbacks facing four pass defenses who have given up a lot of points to quarterbacks this season. That makes for a lot of interesting and exciting options.

For this article I will generally look to select QBs that are under 70% owned.

Alex Smith @ New Orleans Saints (55% owned)

Smith is always a dangerous quarterback to try and stream but there are not much better spots than this. Coming off a bye week with 14-days to prepare he gets to face a Saints defense who rank worst against opposition quarterbacks in 2018. In addition, this game is going to see Drew Brees and the Saints offense go full gas at home in prime time. The Saints are going to look to pile up points and the Redskins will need to match them step for step. Smith is going to have to a lot more than just manage this game. He will need to go toe-to-toe with Drew Brees.

Derek Carr @ Los Angeles Chargers (36%)

Carr defied the odds to put up a 33-point performance against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Now he faces a Chargers defense who ranks among the top-10 in points surrendered to quarterbacks. The Chargers defense just gave up 20-point performance to C.J. Beathard. Derek Carr should be able to do at least that. The Chargers offense has been fairly impressive but their defense has struggled to stop opponents.

Blake Bortles @ Kansas City Chiefs (33%)

It is an odd week and therefore we should technically be getting bad Blake. However, it is difficult to be bad when facing the Chiefs defense, who are surrendering over 30-points to quarterbacks on average this year. The Jaguars will be hoping their league-best defense can slow down the Chiefs offense. However, it is extremely likely the Jaguars are going to need to score somewhere in the region of 30-points. For them to do that Bortles is going to have to do something fairly impressive.

Ryan Tannehill @ Cincinnati Bengals (23%)

Tannehill had a disaster of a day against the Patriots last Sunday. Given the way the Patriots had played defense that should not have happened. However, equally no one is surprised that the Patriots stood up in their own back yard. Now Tannehill goes to Cincinnati to face a Bengals team which just got pulled to pieces by the Falcons. Tannehill does not have those kind of weapons but his team should be able to have success against this Bengals defense, even if it is chasing the game late in the second half.
