Fantasy Baseball: Stash Dustin Fowler

Athletics Dustin Fowler

This week, the waiver wire is stocked with players to stash like Dustin Fowler and Greg Bird, players who can help you now including Jorge Soler, Matt Kemp and Zack Cozart. There should be options for most leagues.

Who should you be targeting on the waiver wire this week?

Dustin Fowler | Oakland Athletics
7% Owned

The Oakland Athletics called up top prospect Dustin Fowler. He has the ability to help your fantasy baseball team this seaosn with stolen bases will be his primary contribution. It is yet to be seen how much he will play. He is a left-handed hitter who can actually hit lefties which is great for a young player sticking in the lineup. He is obviously not a plug and play add but he is worth stashing to see if he pops.

Jorge Soler | Kansas City Royals
52% Owned on Yahoo!

A week ago I told you to pick up Jorge Soler. He is still crushing .348 with 2 homers, 6 RBI, 7 runs and a steal and that is just over the last 7 days. Soler continues to hit in the two hole for the Royals and should continue to produce in the short term. A week from now, he will likely be far too owned to make the cut on this column next week. Add Soler now and enjoy the ride.

Matt Kemp | Los Angeles Dodgers
50% Owned on Yahoo!

There was some question about how much of an impact Matt Kemp would have this season. Thus far Kemp is silencing his critics by hitting .343 with 5 homers and 17 RBI. He continues to hit in the meat of the order for the Dodgers. If you need some power or help in the OF, Kemp is worth targeting. If he loses playing time or starts to slump you can move on to another outfield option.

Corner Infield

Ryon Healy | Seattle Mariners
37% Owned on Yahoo!

Ryon Healy has been playing and playing well for the Mariners. He is hitting .319 with 5 homers, 11 RBI, and 10 runs scored. On Yahoo, he is eligible on at both first or third base. He typically hits between 5th and 7th slot in the order. Healy should remain in position to score runs and drive in runs for this Mariners team as long as he continues to hit. Add him this week if you need help at either corner spot.

Greg Bird | New York Yankees
52% Owned on Yahoo!

The New York Yankees Greg Bird is set to begin rehab with the class A club in Tampa Bay. Manager Aaron Boone expects Bird back in 10-20 days. This was a player that many fantasy owners were excited about before his injury in the preseason. If he can be back and stay healthy there is a possibility he reaches 15-20 homers with an average just shy of .300. The RBI and run production should be strong too in this lineup. Add Bird if you have flexibility at the bottom of your bench.

Zack Cozart | Los Angeles Angels
56% Owned on Yahoo!

Zack Cozart led off for the Angels on Wednesday after being a 6 hole hitter most of the season. It will be interesting to see if it continues but even if he is hitting in the middle of the order, he is worth a look. He hit his 5th homer of the season and should approach 20 something bombs this season. The average is questionable and hangs around .250 but over the last 14 days he has hit over .300. With the power, runs and RBI he can help your fantasy team.

Yolmer Sanchez
16% Owned on Yahoo!

Yolmer Sanchez is a solid option if you need middle infield help this week in deeper formats. He isn’t a monster power or speed guy but has the ability to help with a few in each category. He has a good approach at the plate and should help your batting average. He hits second in the order and should score plenty of runs. If you need help up the middle or some batting average safety add Sanchez this week.
