Trending Up: Ezekiel Ansah (DE, DET)
Although he has been a bust for almost this entire season, Ezekiel Ansah has played well over the past three weeks, tallying a total of 13 solo tackles and two sacks in the Lions last three games. With Chicago, Cincinnati, and Green Bay on the schedule to finish the year, Ansah could seriously pad his stats and earn himself a much bigger contract next year on the open market.
Trending Down: Solomon Thomas (DE, SF)
49ers rookie defensive lineman Solomon Thomas has had many chances over the past month to break out and show he was worth the third overall selection in this year’s NFL Draft, but the rookie from Stanford just hasn’t been able to make an impact on the field yet. With only two sacks on the season, including zero in his last seven games, Thomas may need another full offseason of work with San Francisco for him to develop into the player they projected him to be.

The Texans have one of the most favorable schedules to finish the season for IDPs. Can Zach Cunningham take advantage?

Trending Up: Zach Cunningham (ILB, HOU)
After producing mediocre fantasy numbers during the middle portion of the season, IDP owners may finally be able to trust Zach Cunningham in their starting lineups for the remainder of 2017. The second-round rookie selection from Vanderbilt has played 100% of defensive snaps over the last two weeks, even after Brian Cushing returned last week from a 10-game suspension. Cunningham is a player I had ranked highly at the beginning of the season and he could be a great buy-low at this time in dynasty leagues heading into next season.
Trending Down: Christian Jones (ILB, CHI)
After posting his best game of the season in week 13, compiling ten solo tackles, three assists, and a sack, Bears coaches must not have liked what they saw from Jones on the field because he was only on the field for ten total snaps against the Bengals in week 14. Nick Kwiatkoski and Danny Trevathan were on the field for a majority of the game in Cincinnati instead and I expect that to be the trend moving forward, as both linebackers are under contract through 2019.

With almost half of Seattle’s defensive starters projected to miss week 15, Bradley McDougald will be in line for a big week.

Trending Up: Bradley McDougald (SS, SEA)
Seattle’s defense has suffered through injury after injury this season and they just kept piling on in week 14. In addition to Cliff Avril, Richard Sherman, and Kam Chancellor already on injured reserve, the Seahawks will most likely be without both of their star linebackers, Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright, this week. Someone on their defense will have to step up to try and stop Todd Gurley and the Rams and those responsibilities will fall upon both Bradley McDougald and veteran safety Earl Thomas. McDougald has been kind to fantasy owners since replacing Kam Chancellor at strong safety with 34 total tackles in the last four games. I expect similar production for him this week in a huge divisional matchup of NFC West foes.
Trending Down: Harrison Smith (FS, MIN)
One of the perks of being on a top-tier defense in the NFL is being recognized for your play when you a performing at a high level, but unfortunately, one of the downsides of being surrounded by Pro-Bowl level talent is that sometimes there just isn’t enough tackles to go around for everyone. The latter seems to be the case lately for Harrison Smith as he has managed just ten solo tackles and one assist over the Vikings last four games despite being on the field for almost every single snap in that time.
