Week 14 IDP Waiver Wire

Vince Williams will take over as top linebacker for Pittsburgh after Ryan Shazier’s injury in week 13

Here are each week’s previous installments of IDP Waiver Wire:

Now let’s move on to our top IDP waiver wire pickups for week 14!

Eric Lee (DE, NE)

Eric Lee is the most recent player in a long line of hidden gems that this Patriots dynasty has been able to uncover from deep on another team’s roster. Lee was signed off of the Buffalo Bills practice squad on November 21st and in two games since then has compiled eight total tackles, 2.5 sacks, and an interception. Lee has earned his role in this Patriots defense, even with the week 14 return of Trey Flowers, and should play a big part in New England’s plans for this postseason.

Vince Williams (ILB, PIT)

By now, everyone has seen the gruesome injury that Ryan Shazier incurred on Monday night, and while no fan watching would ever wish an injury like that upon someone, fantasy football is always about identifying who the “next man up” will be and how big of a role they will play. Vince Williams will now start at inside linebacker for the Steelers and is a must-own in every league. In three games last year while Shazier was sidelined, Williams recorded 31 total tackles in addition to two sacks. He has low-end LB1 value for as long as Shazier is out.

Lamarr Houston (OLB, CHI)

I can’t believe that it’s 2017 and I am recommending Lamarr Houston as a waiver wire addition after his disappointing three seasons in Chicago, but here we are deep into the season and after many other injuries and misfortunes, Houston could actually be a viable IDP option in big-play heavy scoring formats. Houston joined the Bears once again this past week after a short stint with the Texans already this year and he even managed to sack 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in his first game back in Chicago. The Bears have a very favorable schedule to finish the year when it comes to opposing offensive lines, with games against Cincinnati, Detroit, and Cleveland in weeks 14, 15, and 16.

Marlon Humphrey (CB, BAL)

With Ravens top cornerback Jimmy Smith out for the season with a torn Achilles’ tendon, rookie Marlon Humphrey will have to step up and fill the void if the Ravens plan on staying in playoff contention. Humphrey, a first-round draft selection this year from Alabama, was a 2016 first-team All-American and will now have his chance to prove he was worth the 16th overall pick for the Ravens. In Baltimore’s next two games, they will face the NFL’s top two quarterbacks in interceptions thrown, Ben Roethlisberger and DeShone Kizer.

Quandre Diggs (SS, DET)

While last week in my waiver wire additions article I pegged Miles Killebrew for a big week 13 and chance to be a solid defensive back for the rest of the season, it was teammate Quandre Diggs who filled in for an injured Tavon Wilson, playing 59 of 64 snaps for the Lions, while Killebrew saw the field on just seven snaps. Diggs produced five solo tackles over the course of those 59 snaps, which isn’t a spectacular total, but he is a player to watch as the season winds down.
