Fantasy Football: Week 5 Standard Scoring Rankings
- Updated: October 8, 2017

Welcome everyone to week 5 of my fantasy football rankings for standard scoring. Each week I show my top 15 plays, and give a short breakdown of each position. Let’s jump into it!
QB:
- Aaron Rodgers
- Russell Wilson
- Dak Prescott
- Carson Palmer
- Deshaun Watson
- Carson Wentz
- Matthew Stafford
- Eli Manning
- Phillip Rivers
- Alex Smith
- Cam Newton
- Ben Roethlisberger
- Tyrod Taylor
- Andy Dalton
- Jay Cutler
Just can’t do it: Carson Palmer might be my favorite QB this weekend. Palmer goes up against the Eagles defense that is ranked 2nd in the league in rush defense, but third worst in pass defense. With the absence of David Johnson, the Cardinals are going to need to pass to win the game. Coming in at the 4 spot, I just can’t bring myself to move him to the top quite yet, but he should be a very good play this weekend.
New high ranking: Watson earned a top 5 ranking this weekend after coming out and throwing 4 touchdowns in week 4.The Chiefs have had a lot of high scoring games this season, and I expect this one to turn into a shoot out as well.
RB:
- Le’Veon Bell
- Todd Gurley
- Ezekiel Elliot
- Kareem Hunt
- Carlos Hyde
- LeSean McCoy
- Jordan Howard
- Leonard Fournette
- Melvin Gordon
- Bilal Powell
- Demarco Murray
- Lamar Miller
- Mike Gillislee
- Joe Mixon
- Ameer Abdullah
Preseason is over: Le’Veon Bell showed that he is back on track with over 180 yards and 2 touchdowns last week. After not playing in the preseason at all, he is back and will now continue to be the top back week in and week out.
Another one: Joe Mixon breaks into my rankings after seeing a continued increase in usage for the Bengals. If Dalvin Cook didn’t get injured last week, I would be looking at 3 rookies in my rankings every week.
WR:
- Jordy Nelson
- Odell Beckham Jr.
- Antonio Brown
- A.J. Green
- DeAndre Hopkins
- Stefon Diggs
- Dez Bryant
- Larry Fitzgerald
- Doug Baldwin
- Tyreek Hill
- Keenan Allen
- T.Y. Hilton
- Golden Tate
- Pierre Garcon
- Alshon Jeffery
Can’t be stopped!: The combo of Aaron Rodgers and Jordy Nelson are proving once again that there is just no one that can stop them. With 5 touchdowns already this season, look for Jordy to take advantage of a Cowboys defense that is giving up 24 points per game. It wouldn’t surprise me if Jordy puts up his third game in a row with 2 touchdowns.
Target Count: I am going to continue to chase targets with my wide receiver rankings. DeAndre Hopkins continues to get what seems like every single target from Deshaun Watson. OBJ had 15 targets in week 4 and should see around the same amount every week, considering how bad the rest of the team, outside of Evan Engram, is playing.
TE:
- Zach Ertz
- Travis Kelce
- Charles Clay
- Jimmy Graham
- Delanie Walker
- Evan Engram
- Jason Witten
- Austin Seferian-Jenkins
- Benjamin Watson
- Martellus Bennett
- Hunter Henry
- Eric Ebron
- Jared Cook
- Kyle Rudolph
- Tyler Kroft
Consistency: The tight end position continues to be pretty consistent week in and week out. Charles Clay is catching almost everything thrown his way, and last week he ended up breaking the 100 yard mark. Zach Ertz has now eclipsed 300 yards on the season, and continues to be very consistent in his fantasy scoring week in and week out.
