Fantasy Football: Week 5 QB Streamers

Giants Eli Manning

Welcome to fantasy football Week 5, where it is time to find a QB streamer for many owners. Drew Brees, Trevor Siemian, Matt Ryan and Kirk Cousins are all on bye. Derek Carr will not play for the Oakland Raiders are leaving with a back injury in Week 4. There is also a good chance Marcus Mariota misses this week with a hamstring injury.

Week 4 was a strong week for my QB streamers. Both Eli Manning and Andy Dalton were top 5 options at the position. Carson Palmer saved his day with a late score and finished as the 13th best QB. Jay Cutler was a mess and likely tanked your team if you used him. That said, the situation was perfect and I would still use him in the same spot 100 time out of 100.

Fantasy just got a whole lot better thanks to Monkey Knife Fight. With fast-paced games like Rapid Fire and Either/Or, it’s never been easier to play fantasy and win. New to MKF? Get Exclusive $100 Deposit Match + Free $5 Game >

Let’s look at who can help you in Week 5. There are four names that can provide potential this week for fantasy owners. Who should you target?

Eli Manning vs Los Angeles Chargers
74% Owned on Yahoo!

Eli Manning was strong in Week 4 and his ownership has climbed. If he is still available in your league, he is a great option. He is home facing a Chargers team that has been average against opposing QBs. The Chargers are traveling east to play in the early time zone. The Giants are 3 to 4 four point favorites and the over/under for the game is 45 points and rising.

Manning has been good the past two weeks, throwing for 654 yards and 6 total touchdowns. He is also averaging 48 attempts per game, providing plenty of opportunity for rack up fantasy points. Look for Manning to be a top 10 option again this week.

Carson Palmer at Philadelphia

This one I am recommending but with some reasons to be concerned. Carson Palmer has become a crash test dummy behind the Cardinals offensive line. He has however averaged 338 passing yards over the last three weeks.

In Week 5, the Cardinals are on the road to face an Eagles secondary that has allowed 366 and 347 yards passing in the last two weeks. Philadelphia is a 6.5 point favorite this week, meaning the Cardinals should have to throw in order to keep up. The game is sitting around 45 for the over/under and the Cardinals team total is 16.

I’m expecting 300 plus yards and two touchdowns this week from Palmer.

Dolphins Jay Cutler

Jay Cutler vs Tennessee Titans
23% Owned on Yahoo!

This one will be a play that make you feel dirty but as my Angle of Pursuit co-host Damian Dabrowski said, this is the perfect with nobody onboard. The Titans defense is a flaming dumpster at this point allowing 33 fantasy points each of the past two weeks. Deshaun Watson lit them up for 5 TDs and 57 points in Week 4. This is on the heels of Russell Wilson coming to Nashville and putting on a show.

The Miami Dolphins finally get to play a home game in Week 5. They have been all over the country and a week of being home should do them well. If you are looking for safety, Cutler is likely not the play for you. However, if you want upside light one up with Smokin Jay.

Josh McCown at Cleveland Browns
3% Owned on Yahoo!

Looking for a deeper league option for Week 5, Josh McCown could be your answer. If we want to talk narrative street, let’s take a stroll. Although at this point, we could make a revenge game narrative for most games where Josh McCown starts.

That said, McCown is in a really nice spot. The Browns have been atrocious against QBs. They have allowed 21.6 fantasy points per game thus far. They have been torched the past two weeks by Andy Dalton with four TDs and Jacoby Brissett with 3 TDs.
