Yu Darvish (LAD @ NYM)
Moneyline: -125
Over/Under: 7 1/2
FanDuel: $9,300/DraftKings: $11,000
Darvish going to the Dodgers was one of the more exciting trades at the deadline, with the Dodgers adding another starter to their rotation. He moves from the AL to NL, hitter’s park to pitcher’s park, and gets to face the pitcher as a hitter in NL home games. Tonight, he gets the start at Citi Field, against the Mets. The Mets are an offense I like to target, and their hitters haven’t had much success against Darvish. Only three Mets’ batters have more than 10 at-bats against him. Yoenis Cespedes is one of them with 16, but also has also struck out 11 times. It’s hard to avoid Darvish tonight, especially with his price on FD.
Brad Peacock (HOU vs. TOR)
Moneyline: -194
Over/Under: 9
FanDuel: $8,400/DraftKings: $10,300
Peacock is back in the rotation with Lance McCullers going on the DL. The moneyline jumped almost 30 in favor of the Astros, with the o/u dropping half a point. His price on both sites will probably have most looking elsewhere, but against a Blue Jays’ lineup that is 26th in MLB in runs scored, some exposure is warranted. They have a righty heavy lineup, and many of Peacock’s splits are better against right-handed bats too (OBP, slugging, wOBA, BABIP, and WHIP). The Astros score enough runs to get Peacock those critical points for the win. It’s just a matter of if he can pitch deeper into the game.
James Paxton (SEA @ KC)
Moneyline: -171
Over/Under: 8 1/2
FanDuel: $10,100/DraftKings: $12,200
As the season goes on, it gets harder to put into words why you should roster Paxton, but in a good way. He’s been so good this season, it feels like automatic to play him because there’s no reason not to. It seems like the Royals are missing one or two more solid bats in their lineup, and their hot streak might be coming to an end. Paxton has been dominant over his last several starts. He hasn’t given up a homerun in his last six starts, and has struck out nine or more batters in four of those six starts. Paxton recently faced the Red Sox and Astros, and had strong outings against them too. Find a way to get him in your lineups!
