MLB DFS: Targets for 5/30

It’s an interesting 14-game slate for MLB DFS tonight. Majority of the games have high run totals, and not many teams who are heavy favorites for the win.

 

Pitchers:

Chris Sale (BOS @ CWS)

Moneyline: -185

Over/Under: 7 1/2

FanDuel: $11,700/DraftKings: $13,400

Sale has been absolutely dominant this season. It’s been fun to watch him pile on the strikeouts for our lineups, and tonight shouldn’t be any different against the White Sox. They’re striking out at a rate of 21.5%. Sale doesn’t walk many batters, and the White Sox don’t take many themselves, while walking at a rate of 7%, which is the worst in MLB. This will be Sale’s first time facing his former team, let alone pitch against them in his old home park. If narrative street is your thing, having a couple of Sale lineups can’t hurt.

Justin Verlander (DET @ KC)

Moneyline: -136

Over/Under: 9

FanDuel: $9,300/DraftKings: $10,700

It’s hard not to target a pitcher against the Royals. Verlander’s had some trouble with giving up homeruns and walks, but that’s two things that Royals’ hitters don’t do much of. Verlander’s splits are fairly even between handedness of hitters. This season, he’s actually striking out more LHBs at a rate of 23.6%, versus 19.5% against RHBs. Hitters like Mike Moustakas and Eric Hosmer wouldn’t strike fear in me, and Verlander should have a safe outing.
