NBA DFS: Targets for 3/13

To start out work week, we have a more favorable 8-game NBA DFS slate. What isn’t favorable are the matchups. Many of these games are low scoring, with a few of the NBA’s best defensive teams scheduled to play.

The plays:

Kemba Walker (CHA vs. CHI)

FanDuel: $8,400 (PG)

DraftKings: $8,100 (PG)

Last article, I really liked Walker. He played less than 25 minutes, thanks to the Hornets blowing out the Magic. Walker had a strong game on Saturday, and I believe he will tonight as well. There’s a chance Nicolas Batum will miss this game because of a migraine and if so, Walker becomes a much stronger play.

Dennis Schroder (ATL @ SAS)

FanDuel: $7,100 (PG)

DraftKings: $6,100 (PG)

I’ve had success in rostering guards against the Spurs, but it’s always a spot where you want to pick and choose wisely. Schroder is a strong target, more so on DK where he’s priced $1,000 less than FD. The Spurs will be without Tony Parker and LaMarcus Aldridge, and we haven’t heard word yet on Kawhi Leonard. It’s a tough one on the road for the Hawks, but for a point guard in the mid-range for pricing, Schroder can be a nice pivot for you on DK if you need to spend elsewhere.

Evan Fournier (ORL @ SAC)

FanDuel: $5,500 (SG)

DraftKings: $5,600 (SG)

Right now, the Magic are just one-point favorites over the Kings on the road. Even on a night where there isn’t much to pay up for, it’s always nice to have targets in Fournier’s price range in case you do need to use your remaining salary at another position. The Kings aren’t good defensively, and give up the fifth most 3-pointers in the NBA. Although Fournier’s only shooting 3-point shooting percentage is at 34.6% for the season, we could see him do a better job of it tonight against the Kings.

Gordon Hayward (UTA vs. LAC)

FanDuel: $7,800 (SF)

DraftKings: $7,400 (SF)

This is about as low of a price that we’ll see for Hayward. Rudy Gobert is currently questionable, but Hayward’s still top small forward target for me, regardless. If you need a little more convincing, Hayward gets a usage bump from 27.3% to 30.4% with Gobert off the court. At the moment, the Jazz are just one-point favorites so this game should stay close and competitive.

Marc Gasol (MEM vs. MIL)

FanDuel: $7,700 (C)

DraftKings: $7,300 (C)

Much like Hayward, Gasol’s price is as low as we’ll see it. Game log watchers will see his last game and not have him as a target. I think that’s a mistake. With a price that’s sub $8,000 on FD, and almost $7,000 on DK, this is a time to take advantage of it. As a team, the Grizzlies are on a bad run, losing five games in a row. I think they’ll try to come out strong tonight against the Bucks

Dwayne Wade (CHI @ CHA) – on DK

FanDuel: $7,600 (SG)

DraftKings: $6,700 (SG)

Karl-Anthony Towns (MIN vs. WAS) – on both sites

FanDuel: $10,500 (C)

DraftKings: $10,600 (PF/C)

Game stack – LAL @ DEN:

The obvious game stack for tonight will be the Lakers visiting the Nuggets. The Lakers are on a back-to-back after playing the 76ers last night, while the Nuggets had a day of rest. The Lakers don’t have anyone on your team whose price you want to stay away from, especially on FanDuel. Two targets that I like on the Lakers is point guard, D’Angelo Russell (FD: $6,700/DK: $7,700), and power forward, Julius Randle (FD: $6,500/DK:$7,500).

If I’m paying up for one player tonight, it’s Nikola Jokic (FD: $10,000-PF/DK: $10,400-C). He couldn’t have a better matchup than this. Also in the mix is is small forward, Danilo Gallinari (FD: $6,500/DK: $6,200), where I think he’s a fine play on both sites. This is the highest scoring game of the night, with a point total of 230, and with the Nuggets being a favorite by 13.5 points.
