Matt Harvey (NYM vs. ATL)
Moneyline: -225
Over/Under: 7
FanDuel: $9,500/DraftKings: $10,300
The Mets are favored the most for the win and also have the lowest run total tonight. Harvey has been improving over his last two starts and after last night’s win, he should be in line for another good start. He got back up to six innings in his last start and strikeouts are climbing as well.
Jake Arrieta (CHC @ PIT)
Moneyline: -185
Over/Under: 7
FanDuel: $12,100/DraftKings: $12,100
Overnight, the moneyline started at -210 and is currently at -185. It’s a pretty big drop for a game being started by Arrieta, but the run total remained the same. He has been dominating but considering price, it can be tough to roster Arrieta.
Other pitchers to consider: Matt Moore (TB vs. LAD), and Collin McHugh (HOU vs. MIN).
Catchers
Welington Castillo (ARI vs. MIA)
FanDuel: $3,200/DraftKings: $3,700
Castillo has been great offensively, this matchup against Justin Nicolino is a really good one even though it’s at Marlins Park . Nicolino did pitch a great game against the Dodgers, but don’t let recency bias sway you. Nicolino doesn’t rack up the strikeouts, so the Diamondbacks have a chance to make a lot of contact.
J.T. Realmuto (MIA @ ARI)
FanDuel: $2,900/DraftKings: $3,400
On the other side of the Diamondbacks, Realmuto also has a good match up. We have the platoon here and Realmuto can show some power at times. He’s slightly cheaper on both sites, so if you need more salary to spend somewhere else, Realmuto can be a nice alternative.
Other catchers to consider: Brian McCann (NYY @ BAL), and Buster Posey (SF @ CIN).
First base
Chris Davis (BAL vs. NYY)
FanDuel: $4,100/DraftKings: $4,700
Davis and the Orioles are facing Luis Severino and the Yankees tonight at Camden Yards. Severino has give up at least seven hits in his starts this season and the Orioles bats should be able to make a lot of contact. If I were to pick a home run in this game, it would come from Davis.
Byung-ho Park (MIN @ HOU)
FanDuel: $3,300/DraftKings: $3,600
Park has been a favorite of mine for his power upside and at a position with a lot of power options, he may go overlooked. We don’t have the platoon here against McHugh, but Park doesn’t need it. McHugh’s numbers against lefties and righties are similiar, and either handedness can have success.
Other first basemen to consider: Paul Goldschmidt (ARI vs. MIA), and Albert Pujols (LAA @ MIL).
Second base
Logan Forsythe (TB vs. LAD)
FanDuel: $3,800/DraftKings: $4,300
Right-handed Tampa Bay bats against left-handed pitchers should be etched into our brains by now. Forsythe has been leading off so that’s an added bonus to rostering him.
Ben Zobrist (CHC @ PIT)
FanDuel: $3,300/DraftKings: $4,100
Another thing that should be etched into our brains is rostering Zobrist against southpaws. The Cubs are facing Jonathan Niese and Zobrist has better career numbers. If you don’t want to spend up for Forsythe, Zobrist is a nice target at the position, but probably hitting lower in the batting order.
Other second basemen to consider: Neil Walker (NYM vs. ATL), and Derek Dietrich (MIA vs. ARI).
Third base
Evan Longoria (TB vs. LAD)
FanDuel: $3,100/DraftKings: $4,200
We often see Longoria’s price a bit cheaper than Forsythe and many look towards Longoria for the savings. You can play one or the other, or both. Either way, the Rays are still really good as team against southpaws and a Rays stack is always in consideration.
Josh Donaldson (TOR vs. TEX)
FanDuel: $4,800/DraftKings: $5,200
The Blue Jays offense didn’t show up like many expected yesterday, but they have another shot at it tonight against lefty, Martin Perez. The run total for this game is currently at nine with the Blue Jays as a fairly heavy favorite. Donaldson’s price is starting to creep up, so now might be the time to roster him in a favorable match up.
Other third basemen to consider: Brandon Drury (ARI vs. MIA), and Travis Shaw (BOS @ CWS).
Shortstop
Asdrubal Cabrera (NYM vs. ATL)
FanDuel: $2,800/DraftKings: $3,300
Cabrera usually bats lower in the order than we would like but it might make for a sneaky play at the position against Matt Wisler. The game has the lowest run total of the night at seven, but indicates that the Mets should do the scoring. Their offense is pretty solid and Cabrera could be in line for RBI opportunities.
Brandon Crawford (SF @ CIN)
FanDuel: $2,800/DraftKings: $4,100
Crawford had his best offensive game of the season last night and he may not be highly owned tonight because of that. The Giants are facing Jon Moscot, who hasn’t pitched out of the sixth inning in any of his starts this season and has given up a home run in each of them as well. Crawford is more affordable on FanDuel and can make for a nice target at the position.
Other shortstops to consider: Aledmys Diaz (STL vs. PHI), and Jonathan Villar (MIL vs. LAA).
Outfield
Giancarlo Stanton (MIA @ ARI)
FanDuel: $4,900/DraftKings: $5,300
The Diamondbacks are sending Patrick Corbin to the mound tonight, and he has not been what they had hoped for this season. Although this game is being played in Miami, Stanton is always a threat to hit a home run and can definitely do so against Corbin.
Matt Kemp (SD vs. COL)
FanDuel: $3,600/DraftKings: $4,400
Kemp is having himself a nice season so far and I like his matchup tonight against Eddie Butler. We don’t have the platoon here but Kemp bats third in the order and that will give up opportunities for fantasy points. He may go overlooked at his price point where people may want to either spend up or save, so rostering Kemp can be one way to differentiate your lineup.
Trayce Thompson (LAD @ TB)
FanDuel: $2,200/DraftKings: $2,700
Thompson has great numbers against lefties and the Dodgers are facing one in Matt Moore. He’ll be hitting lower in the order so he’s more of a tournament/punt play today.
Other outfielders to consider: Jose Bautista (TOR vs. TEX), Nomar Mazara (TEX @ TOR), and Curtis Granderson (NYM vs. ATL)
Thank you for reading, and good luck with your picks!
