2016 DYNASTY LB RANKINGS
-
Updated: January 19, 2016

| RANK | PLAYER | TEAM | QUICK HITS |
JAMIE COLLINS | NEP | is becoming one of the best LB’s in IDP and the league, can do it all
LAVONTE DAVID | TBB | you know what you’re getting out of Lavonte with/without Kwon next to him
TELVIN SMITH | JAC | the IDP world has found out who Telvin was in ’15 (vouched for him his rookie season though), legit LB1 and top 5 LB for years (wait until Poz is gone)
LUKE KUECHLY | CAR | arguably the best LB on gameday but not a clear cut #1 in IDP, still an elite option has one of the highest floors amongst LB’s & i could easily rank him at 2, i see my top 4 shuffling next couple months
NAVORRO BOWMAN | SF | Welcome back Bowman, near the top in tackles, led league in solos though (118) shall continue to be the leader for SF (no longer a bargin in drafts this season)
BOBBY WAGNER | SEA | seems like he’s been underperformning just about every year but has been steady when he’s on the field & is SEA’s best LB (esp against the run) dare I say he hasn’t even reached his ceiling yet, still has room to grow and put up elite numbers
SEAN LEE | DAL | as a Lee owner I’m relieved he was able to play more games than sitting out, still showcased how good of a LB he is even with the move to WLB
CJ MOSLEY | BAL | 116 total tackles and 4 sacks in 2015, good for LB10 on season but as an owner I think we’d expected a little more, still the leader of that Ravens defense that’ll bounce back in ’16
ALEC OGLETREE | STL | solid buy low IDP target right now and still a LB1 stud
ERIC KENDRICKS | MIN | an off-season as the starter should only help Kendricks, flashed his potential and he’ll be in store for a big 2016, big.
JORDAN HICKS | PHI | prior to his injury that ended his impressive rookie season, Hicks was well on his way into becoming a top 5 LB (50 tackles 3FR 2 int 1 sack) game after game he’s shown flashes he’s the best PHI LB on the field, he brings the playmaking that defense lacks, Hicks will end up in the top 10 soon enough
VONTAZE BURFICT | CIN | has a 3-game suspension to start the ’16 season, he’s a sell high right now unless you like dealing with his antics? Although I’d rather deal with him than Hardy (insert garbage emoji) regardless of all this mess he puts up stud numbers from the LB spot
DEANDRE LEVY | DET | missed entire ’15 season with hip injury, how he responds is a big factor but he should return to near top form. Like Bowman last year, Levy shall bring tremendous value in drafts this season, possibly a cheap IDP target to trade for as well.
KWON ALEXANDER | TBB | the 4-game suspension sucked a big one but should be back and better than before in his sophomore campaign, needs to work on not getting so many missed tackles though, will float around top 15 value
MYCHAL KENDRICKS | PHI | why PHI doesn’t play him nearly 80% of snaps (at least) is beyond me but still productive and makes plays, numbers could dip with Hicks back
DANNY TREVATHAN | FA | whether he stays in DEN or goes elsewhere (long as he starts) he’ll be a solid LB2 contributor with top 10 potential (pending health)
MALCOLM SMITH | OAK | career season for Malcolm (122 tackles 4 sacks) time to sell him
PAUL POSLUSZNY | JAC | he just wont go away but he’ll go away from my dynasty squad
DERRICK JOHNSON | FA | probably stays in KCC, which is fine and glad he was able to put up a monster season after injuries plagued his previous two seasons (117 tackles 4 sacks)
STEPHONE ANTHONY | NOS | quietly had a solid rookie season and will continue to maintain a top 20 return (LB2 value) with a hint of a top 12 ceiling
AVERY WILLIAMSON | TEN | finally turned into the LB I thought he could become towards the end of the 2015 season (25 tackles last 3 games) shall continue to evolve into TEN’s top ILB heading into 2016.
DENZEL PERRYMAN | SDC | Chargers finally took the training wheels off Perryman and responded with 38 tackles his last 5 games with 2 games with 10+ tackles and is turning into the leader in the middle they’ve wanted, sky is the limit for Perryman in 2016 esp since depth behind him is scarce too
ANTHONY BARR | MIN | sometimes he’s just better on the field where he does things that doesn’t apply to the stat sheet, then there are times when he’s dominant and will give you like 8 tackles and 2-3 sacks he’s also MIN’s lone every down ‘backer but will be joined by Kendricks in ’16. Barr is a solid LB2 value in any league format, just have to deal with the 0’s sometimes
KJ WRIGHT | SEA | career season for KJ and can be sustained, if Irvin leaves and KPL steps up the numbers could dip slightly.
KHALIL MACK | OAK | needs no introdution except that his ranking should be higher, much higher
RYAN SHAZIER | PIT | made of glass otherwise solid production across the board, you get the same out of Kwon just about and one is cheaper than the other
JELANI JENKINS | MIA | you believe in bounce backs, because I do
D’QWELL JACKSON | IND | ole vet keeps lurking, for the most part he should continue to pile up total tackles
JERRELL FREEMAN | FA | landing spot is key here
JUSTIN HOUSTON | KCC | a season Houston owners would like to forget, solid bounce back candidate in 2016 but he’s behind Mack now.
PRESTON BROWN | FA | the Bills front 7 as a unit was like a “WTF” moment because the talent is there the production was average, Brown makes a decent buy low candidate right now though and I also expect him to remain in BUF
BRANDON MARSHALL | FA | solid against the run, he should have a handful of teams coming after him this off-season as there are a bunch of teams that can use Marshall
KEENAN ROBINSON | FA | talent there, problem is cant stay healthy – landing spot is key here
LAWRENCE TIMMONS | PIT | savvy vet just won’t go away, maybe 2 years tops left at solid LB2 value
NIGEL BRADHAM | FA | still a Bradham “truther” to say if he can land in a better situation he can put up ’14 numbers again.
HAU’OLI KIKAHA | NOS | impressive 1st half of his rookie season then died down, remains a solid LB3 with LB2 production at times
THOMAS DAVIS | CAR | give it up for Davis, if this was redraft rankings he’d be much much higher but he should continue to mentor Shaq this off-season and pass the throne over
JAKE RYAN | GBP | nobody else on GBP and played decent enough to remain their starting ILB, can pile up the tackles in bunches
ANTHONY HITCHENS | DAL | if McClain stays then his value dips (again)
SHAQ THOMPSON | CAR | breakout ready
SIO MOORE | IND | def one of the IDP’s I’m keeping my eye on this off-season, talent is there his response to his injury has slowed him down so can he get it back? We’ll see
WILL COMPTON | WAS | is he on the verge of becoming WAS’s starting ILB for 2016, I think so solid LB3 value with a floor of LB2
DONTA HIGHTOWER | NEP | solid production across the board
DEMARIO DAVIS | FA | hasn’t been impressive as he heads into free agency, could land in a back up role too *shrugs*
WESLEY WOODYARD | TEN | what a surprise it was too see how well Woodyard did in ’15 (87 tackles 5 sacks) he should sustain this production if Zach Brown is gone but still below Avery.
BRIAN CUSHING | HOU | is slowly becoming a disappearing act (110 tackles and nothing more to show)
CHRISTIAN JONES | CHI | is the Bears best cover ILB should he should keep some role, if he has another solid off-season he’ll start
BEN HEENEY | OAK | does he have what it takes to be the man in the middle for OAK, possible but he’ll have competition with Neiron this off-season, I like his slight upside though if he can land the starting gig – almost Borland-like (almost)
ROLANDO MCCLAIN | FA | he’s a FA so his landing destination plays a big – big part but I’m expecting he’d stay in Dallas (then Hitchens value drops again)
ZACH BROWN | FA | could thrive elsewhere, like Green Bay or New Orleans
RAMIK WILSON | KCC | if either of Mauga or Johnson are gone, Ramik has shown up in spot duty of his potential and can become a solid tackle machine (LB2 upside if so otherwise spot starter as a LB4)
KIKO ALONSO | PHI | just not a believer Hicks & Kendricks have clearly outplayed him
JONATHAN FREENY | NEP | done a superb job filling in when called upon, future could be murky but if Mayo’s out then he’ll be at least a 2-down back because Collins & Hightower are solid every down ‘backers.
MELVIN INGRAM | SDC | posted a career season in ’15 (65 tackles 10.5 sacks) can he sustain it? It’s possible and would bet on it as my LB5 possible LB4 depends which route you go (tackle heavy or sack heavy)
PAUL WORRILOW | ATL | just waiting for him to be replaced
JOHN TIMU | CHI | rookie flashed some potential, the ILB’s in CHI is a mess though and I’d only look at Timu in deep leagues but if he’s named a starter this off-season then his value takes a nice uptick
WHITNEY MERCILUS | HOU | has been a complete monster with Clowney out, career year with 12 sacks and had two 3.5 sack games, he seems to be peaking at the right time and this ranking could be low (if he’d increase his tackle production)
BENARDRICK MCKINNEY | HOU | I’d want him to take the next step into 2016, can become HOU’s best ILB and outplay Cushing or take advantage of opportunities when they come his way
NEIRON BALL | OAK | keep an eye out on him, prior to knee injury he’s earned playing time and possibly a starting spot
CHRIS KIRKSEY | CLE | I’ll believe it when I see it
PERNELL MCPHEE | CHI | sack machine, should continue to sustain production in year 2 in Chi-town.
GERALD HODGES | SF | he’s better than Whilhoite for the most part, had 70 tackles but nothing else, if he stays in SF he should be better in follow-up season.
JEREMIAH ATTAOCHU | SDC | entering his 3rd season, doesn’t have a high ceiling but a solid floor for big play leagues & shall continue to develop into one of better Chargers pass rushers
DARYL SMITH | BAL | if you like assists then go ahead and take him, has his moments and dynasty wise I’ll pass even if I’m a contender
RYAN KERRIGAN | WAS | expecting a total bounce back in ’16 as WAS continues to build their front 7, the development of Preston Smith will only help to relieve pressure off Kerrigan.
VON MILLER | DEN | will get you the sacks no doubt about that but can he contribute in tackles too? Big play worthy LB to own but not standard scoring
STEPHON TULLOCH | DET |
DEVON KENNARD | NYG | if NYG would only play him more his numbers would possibly be better, I’m still buying in dynasty though as he’s pretty much free right now
DEE FORD | KCC | superb job, if he gets starting job he’ll have a career best season in 2016
CONNOR BARWIN | PHI |
KEVIN MINTER | ARI | kind of surprised early on then real world hit and Minter isnt anything special
SHANE RAY | DEN |
JADEVEON CLOWNEY | HOU | can he stay healthy or play at least 13 games? He’s almost at the “bust” point, but I’m not ready to give him that label – still has time & has shown flashes of what he’s capable of, you want my knee clowney? It’s in tact and ready to go (Lol)
NEVILLE HEWITT | MIA | worth keeping an eye on this off-season
MANTI TEO | SDC | one of those LB’s that surprises early on then disappears because of injuries, let someone else take Te’o
PRESTON SMITH | WAS | potential to lead league in sacks once given playing time
BRUCE CARTER | TBB | seems to be a decent fit in TBB defense, only valueable if Kwon/Lavonte go down with an injury otherwise worth a spot in deep leagues
KEVIN PIERRE-LOUIS | SEA | could have bigger role in 2016 if Irvin were to leave
JAMES LAURINAITIS | STL | nothing to see here, carry on
MARKUS GOLDEN | ARI | love his potential but ARI is loaded with edge rushing talent
ZA’DARIUS SMITH | BAL | Suggs/Dumervil are aging and Smith has flashed his potential, definite sleeper potential in ’16
JONATHAN CASILLAS | NYG | is NYG’s best LB (right now) but it’s a mess and could be out of a starting role pending off-season moves
SHAQ BARRETT | DEN | just hope you start him on his dominant game(s) and will be in a rotation with Ray at the very least
BRANDON GRAHAM | PHI | if PHI moves to a 4-3 scheme, Graham’s value should take off as a DE (where he’d play in a 4-3) and we’ll await his position change, maybe, if MFL is cool like that
DEMARCUS WARE | DEN | could DEN give way to the youngsters in Barrett and Ray? seems that way, dominant on the field but his injuries are piling up
CLAY MATTHEWS | GBP | still don’t know how he made the Pro Bowl
ALEX OKAFOR | ARI | another edge talent for ARI, could make a bunch of big plays
TERRELL SUGGS | BAL |
BUD DUPREE | PIT | will probably take another year before he takes off
KYLE EMANUEL | SDC | makes an impact for the sparingly playing time he gets, not enough to warrant a roster spot unless deep league or big league (16+ managers)
REY MAUALUGA | CIN |
TAHIR WHITEHEAD | DET | with Levy back Tahir’s numbers take a big dip, sorry.
JEROD MAYO | NEP |
PAUL DAWSON | CIN | what to do what to do with Dawson’s creek, not that athletic is hurting him but we’ll see what happens in off-season now that Burfict is out for at least 3 games
CRAIG ROBERTSON | FA | could see him remain in CLE, but with new regime it’s up in the air
KAREEM MARTIN | ARI |
ELI HAROLD | SF | i’d like to see SF use him more in ’16
KYLE VAN NOY | DET | head scratcher here, thought he’d make an impact early maybe he’s one who takes time but how patient can DET or an IDP owner be?
VINCENT REY | CIN | clearly disappeared when Burfict came back but should see a 3-game value IF he sticks with CIN otherwise he’s become non-rosterable until further notice.
DANNY LANSANAH | TBB | buried on the depth chart behind Kwon/Lavonte and possibly Carter
