Week 8 College Football Picks Against the Spread

Juju Smith

Week 8 College Football Picks Against the Spread features some interesting match ups. This is the week that we have some interesting match ups headlined by some ACC clashes. We could see some upsets with teams in look ahead spots. It also features a line that might not make a ton of sense but the favorite is the right side no matter how much the underdog is screaming to be taken.

University of Southern California -3 vs Utah Utes

The number 3 team in the AP poll is an underdog on the road? How can that be, especially with the way SC has been playing? USC is the right side in this spot. Despite their coach being fired prior to the Notre Dame game, they played really well on the road. Notre Dame is a very good team and the Trojans were in this game for three quarters. I expect the Trojans defense to slow down Devontae Booker and force Travis Wilson to beat them. On offense Cody Kessler and company will put it on the Utes defense. The Trojans will win and cover the 3 point spread.

Florida State Seminoles -6.5 at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

This is going to be the Dalvin Cook show. Georgia Tech has had a ton of issues stopping the run, currently allowing 178.4 yards per game. Cook will be the best running back the Yellow Jackets have faced. CJ Prosise ran for almost 200 yards and 3 scores against this same Yellow Jacket defense. Cook should be in the same neighborhood at least. Jimbo Fisher should help Everett Golson make smart reads and avoid costly turnovers. I think the Seminoles win this game pretty comfortably by 10 points or more.

Miami Hurricanes +7.5 vs Clemson Tigers

I love this Clemson Tigers football team. They were in my preseason College Football Playoff prediction and to this point they are making me look smart. Deshaun Watson is a stud at quarterback despite not having his best weapon in Mike Williams. That said, I like Miami in this spot. They are getting more than a touchdown at home in an early window. Brad Kaya is a legit quarterback who can make NFL type throws. Joseph Yerby should also get involved here. I think the Tigers will get the win but it will be a close 23-20 or 27-24 type game.

Western Kentucky Hilltoppers +17 at LSU Tigers

LSU played a physical game a week ago and snuck out a win thanks to the ole mad hatter Les Miles and his trickeration. A fake field goal got what turned out to be the game winning touchdown. This week they are at home and are welcoming a feisty Western Kentucky team. Now I can’t see a way the Hilltoppers get the outright win but Brandon Doughty and company should be able to put up enough points to stay within 3 scores. The Tigers travel to Alabama next week so this could be a look ahead spot. Take the Hilltoppers plus all those points.

**Upset Alert**

Myles Garrett

Texas A&M Aggies +5.5 at University of Mississippi Rebels

I know I picked A&M last week and I know they didn’t come through but this is the right side. Kyle Allen had three pick sixes and yet the Aggies were hanging tough. They were down 8 in the third quarter of this game. Laremy Tunsil is back for the Rebels which could be huge especially going against Myles Garrett, who may be my favorite defensive player in the country. I expect a rebound performance from Allen in this spot, maybe a Christian Kirk special teams play that helps seal it. Take the Aggies to win outright on the road.
