Week 6 College Football Picks Against the Spread

Derrick Henry

Week 6 College Football Picks Against the Spread features a ton of familiar names. The fact that we have gotten to a point in the season where teams can make multiple entries is crazy to me. This season is flying by.

Week 5 did not go quite as well as I had hoped. It was still a week above .500, and two of the underdogs I suggested not only covered but won outright. Thanks Iowa and Arkansas! If you listened to the Angle of Pursuit podcast on Wednesday, you got another winner thanks to the University of Alabama. If you missed out, we break down the upcoming week each Wednesday for Fantasy Football. We also have a betting segment on the show. I will try to give out an extra winner or two on the show. Give us a listen! We are on iTunes!

I had too many favorites in my initial picks, so I threw in a couple of dogs to add some balance. Enjoy the extra winners. Lets make some picks for Week 6!

Alabama Crimson Tide -16.5 vs Arkansas Razorbacks

If you checked out the podcast, I explained why the Tide were the worst opponent for Georgia. Nick Saban loves to stop teams that use a down hill run scheme. This week they face another team that utilizes a very similar offense to Georgia. Brett Bielma loves to run down hill and between the tackles. While Brandon Allen has seen the offense shift more in his direction this season, I still expect the Tide to roll in Tuscaloosa and cover the 16.5 points, which is a pretty sizable number. Despite the one loss, they are still among College Football’s elite.

West Virginia Mountaineers -7 vs Oklahoma State Cowboys

West Virgina Mountaineers had their first major test of the season a week ago in Norman. The Oklahoma Sooners were able to get up and the game got sideways on West Virginia. As they return to Morgantown this week to face Oklahoma State team, expect things to get turned around in a hurry. Being home should help the offense rebound. They also face Mason Rudolph, who played much better a week ago but tends to struggle on the road. The Cowboys perception does not match their reality. They are a middle of the road Big 12 team. I think the Mountaineers win this game pretty easily and cover the 7 points.

Georgia Bulldogs -3 at Tennessee Volunteers

Georgia is nowhere as bad as they looked in rain against Alabama. They are still a very good team that should roll most teams they play. Nick Chubb and Sony Michele will run wild this week. The Volunteers will feel the Bulldogs this week, as they take out their frustration from the Alabama game. Expect Georgia to win this game going away likely by double digits. Butch Jones loves to watch his team give away games and eventually they’ll just not be in games to start with. I think that starts this week.

Clemson Tigers -7 vs Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Georgia Tech comes into this game in shambles. After the way they played against Mississippi State in the Orange Bowl, many had high expectations for this team. That hasn’t been the case. The loss against Notre Dame seems to have really did a number on them. They lost at home to a North Carolina team they were expected to beat by a touchdown a week ago. This week, they face a Clemson Tigers team that is coming off of an impressive win against the Fighting Irish. Typically I don’t like to take team after such a big win, but the Tigers should roll again this week. They were a team that appeared in the College Football Playoff picks prior to the season and I see no reason to think any differently thus far.

Kansas State Wildcats +10 vs TCU Horned Frogs

In Bill Snyder we trust. This week they are home and welcoming a TCU team that has been rolling offensively 50 plus points in the last four games. Kansas State had to finish last weeks game with the 4th string quarterback, Joe Huebner, who came back into the game after emergency quarterback Kody Cook was injured. They have an offensive lineman that has volunteered to play quarterback if necessary. I trust the Wildcat defense at home in this game. It will be the best TCU has seen all season. It takes a ton of trust and possibly an offensive lineman playing quarterback but Kansas State plus the points is the right side here.

Missouri Tigers +5 vs Florida Gators

This is another game that will take some trust, but the Missouri Tigers are absolutely the right side in this game. Florida was incredibly impressive a week ago in the Swamp beating a very good Ole Miss team. This week, the road will pose problems for the Gators. The Tigers defense is stout and Drew Lock will be under center for the offense. Not to mention, Maty Mauk was dismissed from the team. Lock played well a week ago completing 21 of 28 passes and finding the end zone twice. The Gators likely win here but its a field goal game and the Tigers cover.

East Carolina Football

East Carolina Pirates +8 at BYU Cougars

BYU bounced back in a big way after the poor showing against Michigan. It was against a UConn team, however, so the win is far from impressive. This week, they are home welcoming an East Carolina team that has played well the past two weeks against SMU and Virginia Tech. The Pirate defense will need to play well to not only cover, but get the outright win on the road. I believe it’s very doable. Expect a tight one in this spot, but ECU should be able to do enough offensively to get an outright win.
