College Football: Week 2 Picks Against the Spread

The College Football season is already rockin and rollin. With another Saturday approaching, it’s time to make some Week 2 picks against the spread. This week doesn’t feature as many stand out contests at Week 1 but there are some interesting contests.

Georgia is on the road to face a South Carolina team that some think can win the SEC East. I’d side with the Dawgs in that contest.

Other big games include Michigan State is in the desert to take on the Sun Devils, Clemson heads to Kyle Field to take on Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies, and the Cy-Hawk trophy is up for grabs. But you’re not here for big games, you’re here for winners.

After a Week 1 that didn’t go as well as I had hoped, Week 2 packs bounce back potential.

Michigan Wolverines -28 vs Western Michigan Broncos

As an Ohio State fan it paints me to back That Team Up North but they are in a tremendous spot. While it was a little rough a week ago against a very good Notre Dame team but the Wolverines lost a key member of the secondary on one of the first few plays of the game to a targeting call. Offensively the Wolverines are an offense that will come together as the season rolls along.

Western Michigan gave up 55 points at home a week ago to Syracuse. The offense put up 42 points but 28 of those points came in the third quarter after the orange 34-7. Michigan’s defense is much better than Orange defense.

I expect Shea Patterson and the boys to get the offense firing on all cylinders this week and for the defense to shut down Bronco offense.

The Pick: Michigan -28

Memphis Tigers -6 at Navy Midshipmen

The Midshipmen were a 15 point favorite a week ago against Hawaii and lost on the field. This week they return home to face Memphis. The Tiger offense led by Mike Norvell is heads and shoulders above the Rainbow Warrior offense. This is not the Keenan Reynolds led Navy offense we have seen in previous seasons.

The line opened at Memphis -3 and has ballooned to -6. This is still too few points. I expect the Memphis offense to score a ton of points and the Navy offense to ride the struggle bus all day.

Take the Tigers minus the points and enjoy the ride.

The Pick: Memphis -6

Arkansas State Red Wolves +36.5 at Alabama Crimson Tide

Who’s ready for an early season sweat? Two thumbs pointed at this guy! The tide will get their third and fourth stringers in early with a SEC class against Ole Miss next week. The Tide are 1-10-1 in their last 12 non-conference FCS games as a 30 point or more favorite.

Arkansas State is a solid team who should do enough on each side of the ball to remain close enough. While I expect the Tide to roll in this game, I think Arkansas State will do enough to lose by 36 or less.

Take the Red Wolves, don’t watch this game and cash that ticket.

Arkansas State +36.5
