Fantasy Baseball: Week 2 Pitching Adds and Streamers

Royals Jakob Junis

Week 2 pitching started out with a bang on Monday. Max Scherzer, Noah Syndergaard, Corey Kluber and other studs were incredible and tallied up the strikeouts. It wasn’t only the names you’ve know for a while but other pitchers trying to make their mark made noise.

Zack Godley, Jakob Junis, Lance Lynn all made an impact on Monday night. Many more will try and do the same over the rest of the week.

Which pitchers should you add for the long haul? Who can you stream to success this week? Let’s take a look at the pitchers that can help you this week and beyond in fantasy baseball!

Jakob Junis (54% Owned on Yahoo!)

The Royals Jakob Junis proved again on Monday that he can be a trusted dazzling against the Mariners. He allowed one hit over seven innings with three strikeouts. While i don’t expect him to avoid allowing a earned run all season, he should be a reliable option to use the rest of the season. The strikeout potential is there and the ERA/WHIP should be solid.

Sean Newcomb (21% Owned on Yahoo!)

Sean Newcomb put on a show in his last outing against the Colorado Rockies. He is one of three pitchers to go six scorless innings with 9 or more strikeouts and no walks. The other two to complete the feat are Randy Johnson and Jon Gray.

In his next outing, Newcomb will face a Cubs team that likes to swing and miss. They will also be without Anthony Rizzo who is on the DL. If he performs well in this match up, which he should, he will become highly owned. Get on board now before this train leaves the station.

Lance Lynn (56% Owned on Yahoo!)

It was a late start to the spring for Lance Lynn but he seemed to find traction on Monday against the Houston Astros. He had nine strikeouts over five innings in his second start of the season. Lynn has solid strikeout potential at almost a strikeout per inning and should have an ERA in the low to mid threes. Add Lynn if your pitching staff needs stability.

Cubs Tyler Chatwood

John Antonoff – Chicago Sun TImes

Tyler Chatwood vs Pittsburgh Pirates (64% Owned on Yahoo!)

Thanks to a snow out in April, Tyler Chatwood will make his second start of the season on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. In his first outing at the Reds, he allowed one earned over six innings with four strikeouts in the process. In this outing, Chatwood should once again limit the damage against a average Pirates lineup. As long as he avoids a moon shot from Colin Moran or Josh Bell, Chatwood should help you this week.

Tyler Skaggs at Texas Rangers (39% Owned on Yahoo!)

The Angels Tyler Skaggs has been solid through two starts this season allowing 2 earned over 10 innings. Skaggs has been averaging basically a strikeout per inning thus far and should have a great opportunity against a strikeout prone Ranger team with Joey Gallo, Rougned Odor and others.

Watch List

Tyler Beede (0% Owned on Yahoo!)

The San Francisco Giants are calling up Tyler Beede to make a spot start on Wednesday against the Diamondbacks. Beede is a top 5 prospect in the Giants organization with a first round draft pick pedigree. San Francisco is in serious need of help in their starting rotation. If Beede can perform well, he could find a home in the roations for the near future.
