Jacob Faria (TB @ LAA)
Moneyline: -110
Over/Under: 8 1/2
FanDuel: $8,500/DraftKings: $8,200
Faria had exceeded early expectations and now makes for a viable target for fantasy. While facing teams like he Red Sox, Orioles, and Tigers, he’s managed to pitch a quality start in each of his starts so far this season. Tonight, he and the Rays are on the West Coast, facing the Angels. They are a low-producing offense at what is more of a pitcher’s park. It’ll be Faria’s first time facing them and that works to his advantage. On a night where it seems you don’t need to pay up for pitching, Faria is a fine target.
Zach Davies (MIL vs. PHI)
Moneyline: -170
Over/Under: 9 1/2
FanDuel: $7,200/DraftKings: $7,800
The moneyline creeped up a bit on this one in favor of the Brewers. Davies takes the mound tonight against the struggling Phillies. With Davies, you don’t want to look at his stat line because of his tough starts to begin the season, or the good ones for that matter like his last one against the Cubs. He hasn’t been what he was last season, but he has the Brewers’ offense on his side this season. Davies is able to get the win because of their bats, even in starts where he allows four earned runs. Rostering Davies is a way to differentiate your lineup with the non-expectation of high upside.
Jon Gray (COL @ NYM)
Moneyline: +124
Over/Under: 8
FanDuel: $6,600/DraftKings: $7,900
Gray had pitched well in his two starts back from the DL. He doesn’t have to pitch in Coor Field tonight and a huge plus for him. In his starts against the D-Backs and Reds, he only allowed two earned runs in each. The Mets are an offense that has been hurt and struggling too. Now is the time to take advantage of Gray’s price, because it could easily get bumped up with a couple more solid outings. Even though the Rockies aren’t the favorite to win, Gary could easily make value without it as long as he can pitch enough to build up his strikeouts.
