2016 DYNASTY IDP DL RANKINGS
-
Updated: January 12, 2016

| RANK | PLAYER | TEAM | QUICK HITS |
JJ WATT | HOU | in a tier on his own
AARON DONALD | STL | if you’ve watched him or an owner you’d realize just how close to Watt he really is, will have Quinn healthy in ’16 to take away double-teams too
CHANDLER JONES | NEP | battles injuries here & there but put up a career high in sacks with 12.5 in 2015 & shall continue to build on that, averages about 52 tackles per season as well
FLETCHER COX | PHI | not a fluke, Cox flashed his growth & development last season & was in dominant fashion in ’15, posted 71 tackles and 9.5 sacks and will build on this entering 2016 (only in single digit scoring in 6 of 16 games played)
MUHAMMAD WILKERSON | FA | expected to get the tag in NYJ & in reality the Jets need to pay the man he’s been consistently dominant on the field, career best 12 sacks in ’15 and still only 26 years old.
EVERSON GRIFFEN | MIN | steady as they come
ZIGGY ANSAH | DET | dominated 2015 with 14.5 sacks and should be turning into form as one of the elite DE’s in the league, still have time to buy him but his price has increased after his career year.
ROBERT QUINN | STL | injury riddled season in ’15, throw that sh*t away – his price tag is probably the cheapest it’ll ever be now and time to pounce as owners are probably wary of Donald’s emergence, a healthy Quinn is still an elite DE
DEMARCUS LAWRENCE | DAL | had a very strong 2nd half of 2015, put up 7 sacks in 8 games. I will not be surprised if he competed to be a top 5 DE in 2016.
CAMERON JORDAN | NOS | after a disappointing ’14 season, Jordan easily bounced back in ’15 posting 10 sacks and 46 tackles, new scheme coming in & Jordan will continue to be the staple of the pass rush in New Orleans.
OLIVIER VERNON | UFA | I expect Miami to retain Vernon, after Wake’s achilles injury there’s really nobody on the roster to play DE so keeping Vernon should be near the top of their priority list. Posted 7.5 sacks after a slow start to the season
CALAIS CAMPBELL | ARI | frustrates you as an owner but can put together solid games in bunches, just a matter of which consecutive weeks you’ll start him still a low end DL1 option but treading the wrong way
CARLOS DUNLAP | CIN | consistently inconsistent but worth the headache for his steady floor
VIC BEASLEY | ATL | Falcons finally got smart and moved Vic to LDE (where he’s best suited) and once ATL gets a viable RDE, Vic’s life will become much easier and didn’t put up eye popping stats in ’15 but I’m expecting all numbers across the board to take a big jump, don’t be surprised if he flirts with 11 sacks in ’16
KAWANN SHORT | CAR | not a fluke and Kawann will continue to D-O-M-I-N-A-T-E opposing OL’s, should be the 2nd DT taken in drafts after Donald
GENO ATKINS | CIN | welcome back Geno, we can continue to draft and own Geno comfortably
DANTE FOWLER | JAC | hope you where able to buy or attain Fowler at some point last season after his ACL injury, he will flash his capabilities as long as he has a healthy off-season and will be a top 15 DL once he gets going #BUYNOW
JASON PIERRE-PAUL | NYG | that cast on his hand has hurt his value big time, buy with caution as I’ve already avoided his top 5 days are over
DANIELLE HUNTER | MIN | rising and will continue to rise, if Robison isn’t back in MIN and Hunter gets majority of the snaps at DE opposite Griffen he’s in store for a big jump in his sophomore season
CAMERON HEYWARD | PIT | how does one respond to a career year, we’ll find out solid DL2 option in ’16
MARIO EDWARDS | OAK | believe the hype on Mario, his sacks should increase but his tackle numbers will be a mainstay
MICHAEL BENNETT | SEA | will he lose snaps to Clark or Marsh in ’16, maybe but he can also move inside too should still flirt with 10+ sacks
JERRY HUGHES | BUF | such a down year and luckily leagues don’t give negative points for penalities because it seems Hughes had more penalties against him than he had sacks/tackles combined. He needs to get his head straight and dominate in ’16, cant waste his talent
GERALD MCCOY | TBB | was a force on the field (as usual) didn’t translate to stat sheet though even still as TBB continues to build their line he’ll continue to be their foundation and numbers will flood in (needs to stay healthy)
HENRY ANDERSON | IND | pretty much a younger version of Ninkovich, will pile up the tackles & get a handful of sacks
LEONARD WILLIAMS | NYJ | only had 3 sacks in ’15 but I expect that to jump in ’16 with more playing time, had a solid 63 total tackles, number where I expect him to float around for his career.
MIKE DANIELS | GBP | underrated and continues to improve each season, if Packers ever got help on the DL he could put up even better numbers, is quickly turning into an every week DL2 starter (if he’s not already)
LINVAL JOSEPH | MIN | he’s a force in the middle which is why Sharrif hasn’t taken off yet
MALIK JACKSON | FA | Broncos would be foolish to let Malik go, needs to build on career year
STEPHON TUITT | PIT | first time as a full-time player and it showed as he kind of slowed down towards the end, gets his conditioning in check or has depth behind him his numbers will be there again, high tackle numbers can be expected
CLIFF AVRIL | SEA | i’d sell him this off-season after the year he had (47 tackles 9 sacks) otherwise still a viable DL2 option
ROB NINKOVICH | NEP | will continue to float around as a DL2/3 option as long as he’s in NEP, had 6.5 sacks in ’15 after back to back 8 sack seasons but is an above average DE racking up tackles for you
JACQUIES SMITH | TBB | graded out as one of the worst 4-3 DE in the league via PFF but not buying that completely, he was a beast early season before his injuries piled up & never seemed to get back on track. A solid buy-low DE heading into ’16
COREY LIUGET | SDC | like, what happened?
JABAAL SHEARD | NEP | rejuvanated his career in NEP, posted 8 sacks in 13 games and ended the season with 4 sacks in last 5 games.
RANDY GREGORY | DAL | ceiling is a top 25 DL, temper expectations in ’16 esp if they resign ol’ bum Hardy (although Hardy didn’t show much of anything) lot of promise with Gregory.
DEVIN TAYLOR | DET | posted a career best 7 sacks in 2015, shaping into form and if he gets full-time snaps he could easily best the 7 sacks.
SHELDON RICHARDSON | NYJ |
WILLIAM GHOLSTON | TBB | strictly a tackle DE which isn’t a bad thing but limits upside elsewhere
NDAMUKONG SUH | MIA |
BENNIE LOGAN | PHI | one of the better DT’s in the game, has his games where he puts up big numbers – a DT1 or DL2
FRANK CLARK | SEA | expected to see an increase in playing time, has the upside of a top 20 DE if Bennett or Avril are gone
CHARLES JOHNSON | CAR | sack dependant, injuries piling up and CAR has stout front to lean on rotation, no longer an every week starter
CAMERON WAKE | MIA | with achilles injury, is his career over or he’s coming back?
KONY EALY | CAR | clearly a sack dependant DE but gets them in bunches, remains a DL3 option in a rotation CAR front
TYRONE CRAWFORD | DAL | dominates on the field just doesn’t apply to stat sheet, it does a handful of times though
MARCELL DAREUS | BUF | the mighty have fallen, are you shocked he’s disappeared after signing that contract? I think he bounces back a little in ’16 but changes to be made
HOWARD JONES | TBB | needs the DE tag on MFL first and foremost before he has any DL value, but has shown flashes of what he can do and should continue to see snaps in a rotation
ALLEN BAILEY | KCC | feeling like this is too low for Bailey but at same time I only trust him as a DL3 option (at best) where he’s a spot starter
MALCOM BROWN | NEP | was a force for the Patriots will remain a solid DT2/DL4 option
AKIEM HICKS | FA | getting traded to NEP has revived his career, was pretty solid in his short tenure for NEP and should earn him a decent contract as he hits FA this off-season
JONATHAN HANKINS | NYG | I’d still buy as a DT1 after an injury riddle/down season – cant question his talent, it’s there.
ROBERT AYERS | FA | if he resigns in New York, value remains as a DL3 option
DENICO AUTRY | OAK |
EDDIE GOLDMAN | CHI | got some snaps as the season went on, piled on muliple sacks and looks every bit of the part the Bears need as their interior lineman. Top 12 DT upside and a DL4 option right now
SEN’DERRICK MARKS | JAC | bad luck for Marks last year, needs to get fully healthy so keep an eye out as he’s a legit top 7 DT
GREG HARDY | FA | don’t trust him, his antics, his attitude – also only piled up 6 sacks for DAL and disappeared
DONTARI POE | KCC |
XAVIER COOPER | CLE | total wild card as I’m not even sure what CLE will do up front but he’s probably their most athletic DE with slight upside
MARIO WILLIAMS | FA | looks like he lost all his motivation in BUF, perhaps a new scenary will do him some good but for now he stays all the way down here.
LAWRENCE GUY | BAL |
TANK CARRADINE | SF |
SHARRIF FLOYD | MIN |
JAYE HOWARD | KCC | jumped out of nowhere last season, think he’ll go back to average at best and DT2/DL4 option
DEREK WOLFE | FA |
JORDAN PHILLIPS | MIA |
BRENT URBAN | BAL | deep league watch list
BOBBY RICHARDSON | NOS | deep league watch list
VINNY CURRY | FA | intrigued too see who signs him, underrated pass rusher
JORDAN HILL | SEA
