Week One is about to get serious. Now, if you play in IDP fantasy leagues, you are sticking with your studs in Week One. But just in case, here are a few players you want to keep in mind and maybe off your bench?
LEONARD WILLIAMS, NEW YORK GIANTS V DENVER BRONCOS
Chances are, this is a “no brainer” for you. I mean NFL’s #84 player just balled out last season. His 11.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, 12 hurries, and 30 quarterback hits, earned him a new contract and a place on the NFL Top 100 players of 2020.

Or you are that skeptical player, who remembered before 2020 when Williams had 17.5 sacks total in five seasons?
Whether you are the skeptic or the truther, play Williams. The Broncos’ offensive line is improved. But that means they allowed a 29.4% pressure rate and 32 sacks in 2020.
JADEVEON CLOWNEY, CLEVELAND BROWNS @ KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
So you are concerned that Clowney has only appeared in 21 games in the last two seasons? Valid. Or is it that he only played eight games in 2020, registering zero sacks for the Tennessee Titans? Again, valid.
But now, he is healthy and paired alongside Myles Garrett. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Clowney has been double-teamed as an edge rusher at a higher rate (30%) than any other player.
So a suspect offensive line has to choose its poison. Do you double Garrett or Clowney? I know it is only the first game of the season, but I feel that this is a statement game for the Clowney-Garrett duo.
Speaking of statements, Clowney has some words to back up.
DON’T’A HIGHTOWER, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS V MIAMI DOLPHINS
Do you remember Hightower opted out last season? Some must not because he is only rostered in 5% of ESPN leagues and 2% of Yahoo leagues, per fantasypros.com
There is some concern about injuries, as Hightower hasn’t played a full season since 2013. But this is one game we are talking about. Hightower has 28.5 sacks, six fumble recoveries, and two interceptions on his work resume.
This game is against a Dolphins team whose quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, had three interceptions and one touchdown when last seen.
JOSEY JEWELL, DENVER BRONCOS @ NEW YORK GIANTS
The Giants’ shaky offensive line has to contend with Von Miller and Nick Chubb.
Last season without Miller, the Broncos’ defense ranked ninth in sacks. For his part in 2020, Jewell had 42 stops, 83 solo tackles, and a missed tackle rate of less than 7%.
Even with Saquon Barkley back, Jewell will have the opportunity to make his stamp on this game.
JEREMY CHINN, CAROLINA PANTHERS V NEW YORK JETS
89 solo tackles, 27 assisted tackles, two forced fumbles, one sack, and one interception, would be Chinn’s stats last season when he played mostly linebacker.
This season, Chinn is moved to safety. This move allows him to roam and have more command of the field.
I cannot say this enough. In this game, Chinn will emerge as a stud. This season, Chinn will emerge as a stud. Chinn is a stud.
How is he only rostered in 67% of fantasy leagues?
