Attacking the Spread – Week 2

Such a great way to start the NFL season. I ended up going 3-2 for the week with two of my bets going to overtime. Here is a quick breakdown of last week’s results.

ATL – 3 -107-1u
CIN +3 -104+0.96u
Over 44.5 JAX/HOU -110+0.91u
ARI +3 -110+0.91u
BAL -4.5 -107-1u
TOTAL 3-2+0.78u

For Week 2, I am taking four away teams and one over. It is split between favorite and dogs, two of each.  I was able to get these lines in my favor and by game time, I am certain that the lines and or juice will be heading in the other direction.  I will be tweeting the changes on Sunday. Let’s get into the picks.

LAR -4 @ IND -110

This game will come down to if the Colts’ defense can contain the Rams’ offense, and I don’t think the Colts can do it. We already know what we are getting when it comes to the Rams’ defense. I do think the Colts are a better team than the Bears but I can easily see the Rams covering the 4.5 point spread.

The Rams are one of the few complete teams in the NFL and should put up 30+ points every week. I do not see the Colts keeping up with the Rams after losing by 12 to the Seahawks.

OVER 45.5 (-110) CIN @ CHI

I was impressed with the Bengals on Sunday, even though a questionable call caused them to go into overtime. With three talented wide receivers and Mixon in the backfield, the Bengals have a lot of weapons and should put up 27 points this game.

The Bears have some great skill position players and should be able to put some points on the board against the Bengals’ defense. If the Bengals win, the over should hit.

LV +5.5 (-103) @ PIT

I could be still hungover from the Monday night game where the Raiders beat the Ravens, TWICE. I slammed this pick because after what I saw, the Raiders have the weapons on both sides of the field to keep it close with the Steelers.

The Steelers had a huge win over the Bills in Week 1. That game wasn’t impressive by either team and the game was decided on a blocked punt. Both the Raiders and Steelers look about the same when it comes to their key players.

NO -3.5 (-110) @ CAR

After what the Saints did to the Packers, I am betting with them against most teams this year. I know this is a division game and it could be a closer game. The Panthers only scored 19 points against the Jets and allowed 14 points.

Winston has spread the ball around and showed why he beat out Taysom Hill for the starting position. I am not too worried about CMC because I feel like that’s the only edge the Panthers have against the Saints. It’s a very slight edge because the Saints have Kamara.

Saints giving 3.5 points is a slam dunk spot for me and I suggest you grab it as well before the line moves up.

DAL +2.5 (+102) @ LAC

I am not totally sure how I got this line with +102 juice, but I took it. I am a firm believer that the Cowboys will win this game. They were able to put up 29 points against the Bucs and the Chargers don’t have a better defense. The Cowboys have a lot of weapons on the offense.

If there is a game where Elliott gets going, I don’t think any team can beat the Cowboys. The Chargers offense has talent as well with Ekeler and Allen. If you want a pivot from my bet, you can bet the over in this game.
