Team Targets Per Minute Week 7

Team Targets Per Minute Week 7 report looks at the use of weekly target numbers by position, player, and by the team. This metric is useful in fantasy football especially in PPR scoring formats where receptions count.  The tables/graphs below provide target data for the running back, wide receiver, and tight end positions.

Green/Blue colorization of the weekly targets and targets per minute numbers highlights players at the top of the position group, i.e., many targets per minute, while red colorization of the weekly target numbers denotes players toward the bottom of the position group, i.e., fewer targets per minute of play.

Targets Weeks 1 to 7 with Weekly, Total Targets, and DIFFs

Many players only look at raw target player metrics and that is it. These data expand that vision via team level. Players are a product of the Team and should have that as a component of your analysis. 

Below I have a sortable table** that lists the following:

• NUM
• TEAMs
• Team Targets in Weeks 1 to 7
• Total Average Targets for Team
• First 4 vs Last 3 Games Team Target Averages
• Last 3 Games Average Points Scored
• DIFF Targets differences in the last two games

** Note the NUM column is presorted by Average Team Targets.

High vs Lows Average Targets 

The table below lines up the highs and lows in league average targets. I used color-coded to assign teams a target type. Blue colorization is very high in average targets vs red annotated the bottom teams. 

In PPR especially, hard to back any WR depth in poor targeting teams. I do monitor trends for changes.

League Average Targets vs Last 2 Game DIFFs, Early vs Later DIFFs and Points Scored (Team Successes). 

Targets are great metrics but changes occur and some teams are efficient in their scoring. Let’s see the metrics here. 

• IND -19 DIFF and some landscape level drop off in targets but very successful. 
• BAL Poor Efficiency? Targeting is great but where are the points? 
• PIT Nice Scoring with recent increases but lost -11 over the season. 
• GB Average good scoring team
• MIN good scoring but has seen landscape level -11 drops in targets 
• TB Poor Scoring But increasing targets recently. Expect improvements
• JAX Very Poor Success! Any hope? Has improved recently. 
• PHI Ok scoring but nice recent targets
• CLE poor scoring and targets recently.
• NYG Poor Scoring. Targeting dropping
• OAK Poor Scoring Recent dropping targets
• ATL Good Scoring Targets ok 
• CIN Weak scoring and targeting drops.

The pink dashed line is the league average for points scored per game last 3 games. Teams above are successful vs unsuccessful below the average line.

I recommend using these metrics for a Team Targeting Diagnosis.

It’s that time of the season to make a change. If you are 3-4 or less,  team depth is not important. Winning now is everything. You must move from stockpiling to winning now! Trades etc are now! Do not continue to do the same things to lose again. 

The First 4 vs 3 metric compares the early season vs recent seasonal Team targeting. We are looking for improving teams. Caution for declining teams. 

% Usage is a metric measuring how does a Team distribute targets to its 3 positions (RB, TE, and WRs)

Pos Rankings are a scaled 100 to 0 ranking within all of a position as compared to the league. What team is using their RBs the most via targeting vs the least? 

Positional balance is another way to see the Team positional distribution. It’s an internal metric relative to the team.
