2016 ROOKIE IDP (DT/DE) RANKINGS
-
Updated: May 1, 2016

| RANK | PLAYER | TEAM | QUICK HITS |
DEFOREST BUCKNER | SF | instant contributor, looking at a ceiling for 8 sacks with a solid tackle rate, should be 49ers best DL no doubt!
JOEY BOSA | SDC | high floor for tackles – going rate for JB is in the 2nd
NOAH SPENCE | TBB | my pick to lead the rookies in sacks, should instantly become TBB’s best pass rusher, if he gets the snaps i will not be surprised if he hits 10 sacks, defitinitely taking Noah in the 3rd with confidence
CHRIS JONES | KCC | can be so – so good and seeing him go in the 5th or later, absolute steal – Wilkerson IDP Profile ceiling!
ROBERT NKEMDICHE | ARI | learning from Calais & Chandler only helps, will be a beast
SHELDON RANKINS | NOS | in DT required leagues I’d be looking at Rankins early (late 2nd-early 3rd) because now with Kikaha out, even more could be asked of Rankins
JONATHAN BULLARD | CHI | will be good against the run, that’s where he’ll pile up tackles
CHARLES TAPPER | DAL | has some speed for the Cowboys defense, will get a shot to contribute early with Gregory & Lawrence suspensions to start the season, already impressing during OTA’s – the opportunity is there for the rook!
MATT JUDON | BAL | Judon had 20 sacks last season, 20 – twenty! … has some development to do but man, he’s going to be the Ravens leader in sacks for seasons!
RONALD BLAIR | SF | will be in play to contribute early & often, especially if Arik doesn’t work out, can line up inside or outside, racked up 70 tackles LY – door is open though for Blair to even start, definitely a value in the 6th round of your rookie draft
MALIEK COLLINS | DAL | yes his injury sucks but he’s worth a stash, especially if you dont need production right away
BRONSON KAUFUSI | BAL | so glad he got the DE tag again in MFL, that’s where he should’ve been playing all along and should compete with Jernigan & Davis for snaps. I like Kaufusi in the 5th or 6th round as a depth piece in deep leagues
VERNON BUTLER | CAR | may have to wait a year before solid IDP production as he’s behind Star & Kawann, but CAR loves the trenches and Vernon can get to the QB. Must target in DT leagues
STEPHEN WEATHERLY | MIN | has the skillset & size that fits the MIN scheme, crowded DL will be tough to get snaps in but worth monitoring in deep leagues
KENNY CLARK | GBP | will make Daniels life a bit easier, will clog up the middle & definitely a strong DT target in DT required leagues
ADAM GOTSIS | DEN | with Malik’s departure, Broncos don’t have much at DE so Gotsis definitely has a shot to shine early. Definitely keep an eye on Gotsis as the off-season progresses
YANNICK NGAKOUE | JAC | Jaguars need pass rushers, Yannick can provide that – has the strength and speed, there’ll be shuffling on the Jaguars DL so I think Yannick can have Gilberry type impact – doesnt get much snaps but takes advantage of it
JAVON HARGRAVE | PIT | nice draft and stash in DT required leagues, going to mesh well with Heyward & Tuitt.
JIHAD WARD | OAK | draft & stash, if you have a taxi squad – Ward has a nice ceiling, the bad part is OAK is already young so he’ll have to take advantage of the snaps he gets and produce off that
JARRAN REED | SEA | i only prefer Reed in DT leagues, can see him at Rubin’s eventual replacement but he’ll get in their rotation
ALEX MCCALISTER | PHI | Eagles have some depth at DE but McCalister could sneak in some snaps with his pass rushing ability, sorta like Vinny Curry was last couple seasons.
CARL NASSIB | CLE | will be battling for backup duties to start but if he has a good training camp and preseason, should supplant Bryant in the near future which will then make things more interesting, value could spike some
A’SHAWN ROBINSON | DET | Ngata not getting any younger, the other DT’s have battled injuries – Robinson shouldnt have a problem getting snaps, could produce sparingly but definitely target in DT leagues for depth, think he can pile up tackles in bunches.
AUSTIN JOHNSON | TEN | i can see his tackle production transfer over to the NFL but not THAT much, more close to 50-ish as a ceiling, will help make Casey’s life easier too but again just a DT only target
HASSAN RIDGEWAY | IND | Colts finally found an interior pass rusher? We’ll see, like Ridgeway’s chances, not a bad pick with your last pick in the 7th or 8th round
