If you haven’t drafted your fantasy football team yet, kudos to you for waiting this long. Chances are, however, that you’ll be drafting within the next seven to 10 days. You’ve done your mocks, and you have an idea about where players will fall. Using FantasyPros.com composite ADP, let’s take a look at some players to avoid in a standard 12-team, 15-round draft, based off of their current ADP. Round 1: Peyton Manning Look, my

Broncos: Wes Welker Suffers Third Concussion in Past Year Denver Broncos’ wide receiver Wes Welker sustained a concussion in Saturday night’s game against the Houston Texans. This is the third concussion for the pass catcher in the past year, and it looks like his 2014 season, and potentially his football career, is in jeopardy. After a second concussion, not only are people more prone to further concussions, but any concussion that they may sustain can have

Cam Newton took another blow to his fantasy potential after the Carolina Panthers announced he has a hairline fracture in his rib. The injury occurred in Friday night’s loss to the New England Patriots. The Panthers are planning on him being under center come week one. Coach Ron Rivera will hold Newton out of Thursday’s preseason finale, but remains optimistic about his availability for week one. Rivera’s positive outlook has to be a glimmer

Emmanuel Sanders – Emmanuel Sanders is the Broncos replacement after losing Eric Decker in the off season. Sanders is a talented player who has a golden opportunity. He had an impressive game Saturday night against the Houston Texans. He accounted for 128 yards receiving and two touchdowns. While i typically don’t read a ton into preseason stats, this is a great sign for a player trying to get acclimated to a new offense. Currently

Let me start off by saying that there is not such thing as a “DO NOT DRAFT” list in fantasy football. There is always a situation when a guy can be drafted. No matter how much I dislike any player, you better believe I will draft him if he is sitting there in the 15th round. There comes a point when value outweighs every thing else. I explored this very idea last week when I wrote

Fantasy Football Auction Draft How many times has it happened that the newest member of your league wins it all? You know, the guy who has to ask what a tight end is halfway through the draft. Any fantasy newcomer can walk into a snake draft with his top 200 sheet from an online resource and make it to the championship. In a league with a snake draft format, that is. Trust me, I was that

Social media, Twitter in particular, has been a big part of making fantasy football one of the most popular games there is today. In addition to Twitter, the ease of being able to share one’s thoughts and ideas on the internet through blogs has really made fantasy an enjoyable yearlong event to be apart of. The fantasy community is one of the best at sharing its ideas, even if those ideas can sometimes help the competition.

The NFL preseason reminds me of one thing: the regular season is not here just yet. But it is so close! And so I have just a few days left to prepare for my favorite draft style: auction drafts. Fantasy football auction drafts are incredibly intense and can be quite complicated. With all of the values and overbids that happen, it is crucial to have a rankings sheet of your auction prices. So that’s why I

The football season is just around the corner, and in the past few weeks, I’ve posted rankings and tiers of quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers. Today, for my last official installment of fantasy football previews, I take a look at the tight end position, and I’ll try to provide some insight as to how to approach the position this year. The Elite 1. Jimmy Graham Even during a season in which he was dealing

I am here to tell you about one guy that is deflating my roster boner in nearly every draft I have seen. That is none other than Julius Thomas, tight end of the Denver Broncos. Right now, Thomas has an average draft position of 30.2 according to Fantasypros.com. That makes him the number two tight end behind Jimmy Graham, and puts him right in the middle of the third round in a standard 12 team

Per CSN New England, rookie running back James White took first team reps in Patriots’ practice Thursday, while presumed starter Stevan Ridley took the majority of his snaps with the second-team offense. It’s certainly still early in the preseason, but news like that sends shockwaves throughout the fantasy community as everyone is jockeying for the next sleeper who will bring their team to fantasy glory. Before we get too carried away, let’s step back and

Mock drafts, depending on who you talk to, are either very important for your draft day preparations, or they are a complete waste of time. I’m part of the former group, and I’ve been doing mock drafts for this year’s draft since the lobbies opened in May. Yesterday, a friend of mine was texting me about the one he was doing, and like many others, he was worried about certain aspects that fantasy players feel

I’ve been playing fantasy football for about eight years now, and this is the first year I’ve officially posted rankings and tiers for the various positions. It’s been one of the most rewarding (and challenging) things I’ve ever done in my fantasy career. It really forces you to do your homework and will best prepare you for your upcoming drafts. I’ve already previewed the quarterback and running back position, and without further ado, I

Going all-in on the Arizona Cardinals in your fantasy football draft can be a sound strategy in 2014. Seriously. By now, you have an idea of what players you’re going to target on draft day. It makes sense to go after those who are going to be in a high-scoring offense, as well as those whose real life team defense is, well, a less-than-stellar unit. If you want to go all-in with the Broncos’ trio

It is officially draft month for fantasy football owners everywhere. Whether you have played for years, or if this is your first season playing the game we all love, on draft day in redraft leagues you are all equals. Don’t draft a defense. That’s right, don’t do it. If you must disregard my advice, at least wait until the last round of your draft. You are absolutely wasting a pick if you take a defense before the final round. Nothing shows a fantasy owner’s weakness more than taking a defense in the tenth round. I don’t care how much you like the Seahawks; you shouldn’t be taking them that early. Team defenses are notoriously

Every year, there are players who go much lower than they should in fantasy football drafts. The Dallas Cowboys’ Tony Romo and New York Giants’ Rashad Jennings are two examples of players who are undervalued in 2014 fantasy football drafts. Like Romo and Jennings, these players are often veterans who have been around for multiple seasons. They don’t have the same “upside” or provide the perceived excitement. However what these players do typically provide is

What do Scarlet Johannson, Channing Tatum and the quarterback position in fantasy football have in common? They’re sexy. I do not believe that I need to justify my position on any of these four entities, but I” do it for the last one. No one ends a draft bragging about the tight end that they drafted. They brag about the guy that will be their top scorer week after week. To put the positions

Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball is expected to undergo an appendectomy Monday. Word out of Broncos camp is that Ball should be ready for week 1. This is a potentially a huge blow considering Ball was 6th in ADP among running backs, coming off the board as a late first or early second round pick. If Ball can return by week 1, I presume he will be the feature back, but there is

| Josh Gordon will be suspended for the entire season |
|
The year long suspension for Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has been upheld per multiple media reports. The potential for a reduced suspension seemed somewhat realistic with a delay in decision on his appeal. The Browns offense will take a huge hit without him. Owners in dynasty leagues may want to make a move for Gordon who has number one wide receiver upside. The price will never be lower than after with this news.

| Brian Hoyer named starter over Johnny Manziel |
|
The Cleveland Browns have named Brain Hoyer their starting quarterback for week one. This may or may not be a shock to everyone. Johnny Manziel will likely start at some point this season. When that it happens depends on how well Hoyer and the Browns do to begin the season. Hoyer helped Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron be fantasy stars last season. Manziel taking over shouldn’t hurt the pass catchers in this offense.

| Tampa Bay Buccaneers Charles Sims will undergo Surgery |
|
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Charles Sims will undergo surgery on the ankle he injured in practice. Sims is expected to be out for 12-14 weeks. This should be good news for Doug Martin owners, as Sims seemed the likely contender to carries in Tampa Bay. Bobby Rainey, Mike James and Jeff Demps are all vying for carries as well. Sims could be a worth add from the waiver wire depending on how the early part of the season goes.

| Marcell Ozuna |
|
Ozuna went 2-4 with two RBI, and a home run. His second game in a row with a HR. Ozuna had been struggling, but it may be possible the struggles are over. He is still producing some good HR numbers, if he can cut down on the strikeouts things could turn around for him.

|
| Chris Sale |
|
Sale came off the DL in a big way Thursday night, throwing six shutout innings with ten strikeouts. Sale had a no- hitter going into the sixth, but with two outs Zolio Almonte singled to center to break it up. According to Sale and manager Robin Ventura, they had discussed before the game that even if Sale had been throwing perfect game he was not pitching more than six innings.

|
| Dallas Keuchel |
|
Keuchel dominated again Monday night against the Angels. Throwing almost his second complete game in consecutive outings. Keuchel threw 8.2 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 earned runs, and he stroke out 8. Keuchel has been very tough, not allowing no more than 4 runs in his nin starts. He will look to continue his dominance on Saturday against Seattle.

| Sebastian Coates, Sunderland – DEF |
|
The Black Cats made a pair of signings on deadline day for season-long loans. Coates joins from Liverpool and Ricardo Alvarez from Inter Milan. Coates struggled to get any pitch time in his three seasons at Liverpool, making only 24 appearances including just six starts. The defender suffered a major knee injury last summer, but should be set for plenty of pitch time at Sunderland. Alvarez was part of the 2014 Argentina squad that lost 0-1 to Germany in the final and picked up 14 goals in 90 appearances for Inter. Source: bbc.com

| Hatem Ben Arfa, Hull City – MID |

Ben Arfa will join Hull City on a season long loan deal with Newcastle United that required a deadline extension of two hours to get the deal done. Club manager Steve Bruce was quite busy on the day, signing four players including Uruguay International Abel Hernandez, Gaston Ramirez from Southampton and Mohammed Diame from West Ham United. Ben Arfa and Ramirez are season-long loan deals while Hernandez and Diame both inked themselves three year deals with their new club. Source: foxsports.com

| George Boyd, Burnley – MID |
|
The newly promoted club made a trio of moves on deadline day including Boyd coming over from Hull City on a three year deal. Boyd had preformed well at Hull, but failed to earn any consistent playing time. Now he will bolster the Clarets midfield position. Michael Keane joins the defensive line after making only five appearances for Manchester United, most recently playing in the 1-1 draw between the two clubs last week. Nathaniel Chalobah joins Burnley from Chelsea on a loan deal and despite not having any Premiership time, the midfielder has impressed while on loan at multiple clubs. Source: …
