Super Market Heroes at Bristol: Best Bets

With a limited supply of live sports to watch and more importantly bet on, NASCAR is earning new viewers, myself included. Not only are they racing while most sports are on hiatus, but they are maximizing their efforts by racing twice a week.

With the Charlotte double dip in the rearview mirror, it’s time to focus on the Bristol Motor Speedway and the Supermarket Heroes 500. As you can probably guess by the race title, the drivers will complete for 500 laps or 266.5 miles.

For those new to NASCAR or returning from a decent sized hiatus, the sport has divided the race into stages. This is important for those that will be diving into DFS as you will garner extra points for Stage wins. Stage 1 will end on Lap 125 and Stage 2 at Lap 250.

That being said, we are here to talk betting odds!

Kyle Busch is the favorite to win this race again as he has owned this race of late. He has two wins and three top fives over the last four seasons. Over his career, Busch has an astounding 8 wins or 27% of the times he started. At 4/1 to win the race and +115 for a Top 3 I would blame anyone who went that route, even if just to protect your investments elsewhere.

That being said, I like to dig a bit deeper for longer odds. So who do I like this week at the Supermarket Heroes 500?

All Stats are courtesy Driver Averages and odds are via DraftKings Sportsbook.

Alex Bowman – 16/1

Alex Bowman has absolutely been dominating over the past six NASCAR races leading 366 laps. Bowman has a sizeable lead on Kevin Harvick, who is currently in second with 299 laps led. No driver beyond these two have led 200 or more laps.

Bowman also has a history of success at Bristol Motor Speedway. Since the beginning of the 2018 season, he has two top 10 and one top 5 finish at the track. In fact, over the last four races at Bristol, Bowman has the 11th best average finish of any driver.

Currently at DraftKings Sportsbook, Bowman is listed at 16/1 to win the race. A number given his recent results and Bristol history feels incredibly tempting.

Looking for a nice payday with less risk? Targeting Bowman for a Top 3 finish at 4/1 could be a great way to go. This wager provides a solid payday with more wiggle room.

Ryan Blaney – 16/1

Beyond Bowman, Ryan Blaney is another driver I am a big fan of this week. Like Bowman, Blaney has been performing well over the last 6 races. He has two Top 5 finishes, one of which was 3rd place finish. He has led 56 laps over that span, which good for 8th most.

While his current form on its own makes him an interesting target, his Bristol history is something that makes him a driver to definitely target. Over his last four races at the track, he has an impressive 3 Top 10 finishes, one of which was a Top 5. He has also dominated the races, leading 369 laps, 100 more than the driver in second.

At 16/1 to win the race and 4/1 to finish Top 3, it’s safe to say I will be invested in Blaney come Sunday.

Kurt Busch – 14/1

The other Busch brother is the one I will be backing this week. If we are talking about the most impressive Busch of late, Kurt has that honor. Over the last 6 races, he has 3 Top 5’s, 5 Top 10’s, and trails only Kevin Harvick for the best average finishing position over the past 6 races.

Kurt, like his brother Kyle, has a history of success at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Over the last 4 races, this Busch brother is tied for 5th in terms of average finishing position. He has three top 10’s, two Top 5’s and one trip into Victory Lane.

If you want to back a Busch this week, take a look at Kurt.

Good luck on Sunday and enjoy the race!
