NFL 2019 Week 7 Streaming Defenses

It goes without saying that with four teams on a bye, streaming your defense in week seven, or any week really, is the way to go. So without further ado, here are 3 defenses that are worthy of streaming this week.

San Francisco 49ers v Washington

After careful coffee infused research, I learned that San Francisco 49ers defense is only owned in 42% of fantasy leagues. Yet they are owned in every fantasy league I participate in and for good reason.

Hello Robert Saleh. He has the 49ers as the second highest scoring fantasy defense…thank you. Just in case you weren’t paying attention, last week this defense held Jared Goff and Sean McVay to 78 total passing yards. They sacked Goff four times and that isn’t even counting the total and complete harassment they put on the entire offense.

The 49ers defense is currently ranked second in total yards (237.4), first against the pass (150.2), sixth against the rush (87.2), and second in points allowed (12.8).

If you happen to be in that 38% of fantasy leagues where the 49ers defense is available, go get you some!

Green Bay Packers v Oakland Raiders

I admit I am kinda on the fence on this one. The Packers defense was phenomenal the first three weeks of the season, holding opponents to under 20 points a game. That included collecting four interceptions and 12 sacks in that time span. Then they weren’t.

In week four the Philadelphia Eagles put up 34 points on them in a game the Packers defense recorded zero interceptions and zero sacks. Yet don’t call it a come back. The Dallas Cowboys put up 24 points. Yet they also surrendered three interceptions and three sacks.

Then there was last week where, terrible officiating aside, they managed to sack Matthew Stafford three times.

Which brings us back to where we started. The Raiders are coming off a bye and one should never underestimate Jon Gruden. But Derek Carr has his moments. Hopefully, if you are streaming the Packers, those moments happen more often than not Sunday.

Tennessee Titans v Los Angeles Chargers

This is an ooofff pick for defenses. (See this is what happens when you stream defenses…the bad part anyway). Titans defense isn’t horrible. The Chargers offense certainly looked horrible against the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday.

The Titans will start Ryan Tannehill this Sunday which demonstrates how desperate times are in Tennessee. The Chargers will still start Philip Rivers who finished Sunday night with a 77.8 passer rating after tossing in two interceptions and two touchdowns.

The Titans are sixth against the pass yielding an average of 217.3 yards. The over/under for this game is 40.5, so scoring shouldn’t be an issue.

I think you could do worse?

Psst if you have roster room, think of picking up the Pittsburgh Steelers defense for the following week. Yep, they are playing the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football….weeeee!
