Time to Shine or Ride the Pine: Week 4 Start or Sit

MVS has gained the trust of A-Rod and should have ours

Woohoo! Finally the dudes I projected to perform didn’t completely tank like the Miami Dolphins are doing in 2019. Tony Pollard proved his importance to Dallas and to our fantasy teams alike.

Chris Carson just cannot stop fumbling his job away, the Jets were grounded in New England, and Josh Jacobs played an extra to Darren Waller’s starring role in Minnesota.

Week 4 start or sit is a bit abbreviated as I’m moving into a new house but here are the players who will shine and who should be on the pine.

Players who will shine

Marquez Valdes-Scantling (Phi@GB TNF 8:20pm est)

The Philadelphia Eagles have been pitiful defending the pass and are allowing the 4th most fantasy points to the WR position through 3 weeks. MVS has emerged as the second option on the outside and should continue to see success against the Eagles.

Davante Adams is still the alpha for Green Bay but as history teaches us, A-Rod can support multiple receiving fantasy assets. Get the week off to a fast start with MVS!

Prediction: 5 rec 74 yards 1 td: 15.9 pts

Devante Parker (LAC@Mia 1pm est)

On the year, Parker has only reeled in 6 of the 20 targets thrown his way for 131 yards. Not very good but eventually some of those throws are going to connect and connect for big chunks.

He is 4th in the NFL in air yards with a whopping 433 on those 20 targets! Ahead of Julio, Golladay, and McLaurin, while only trailing Keenan Allen (42 tar, 495 AYds), Mike Evans (28 tar, 478 AYds), and Marquise Brown (27 tar, 466 AYds).

Miami will once again be trailing having to throw the ball a lot against the Chargers. This in addition to the fact Miami may still be trying to trade vets like Parker makes showcasing his talent would be wise. This is the week DP finally scores and shines for potential trade suitors.

Prediction: 5 rec 84 yards 1 td: 16.9 pts

Kerryon Johnson (KC@Det 1pm est)

The departure of CJ Anderson allowed Kerryon to handle 20 of the Lions 25 rush attempts against Philadelphia and although not many yards were gained, he did find the end zone.

He’ll be relied upon heavily this weekend to keep the ball away from the NFL’s most dangerous offense and exploit the weakest part of Kansas City’s D. Expect Johnson to come up big for Detroit and your fantasy teams on Sunday.

Prediction: 17 car 73 yards 1 td, 3 rec 31 yards: 17.9 pts

Will Dissly (Sea@Ari 4:05pm est)

Will has dissed the opposition two weeks in a row now having scored 3 touchdowns while catching 11 of his 12 targets. He has become one of Russell Wilson’s favorite targets and will continue to be productive in week 4 against the Cardinals.

Arizona has been beyond bad against TE’s this season as they’re giving up more than 20 fantasy points to fellow big bodied receivers. Seattle’s defense is not the same as it once was and Arizona will put up plenty of points keeping the Seahawks passing game active. Dissly is a top 10 option this week against a fluttering Cardinals pass defense and Will terrorize them in week 4.

Prediction: 7 rec 72 yards 1 td: 16.7 pts

Ride the Pine

Nelson Agholor (Phi@GB TNF 8:20pm est)

Even people rescuing babies are aware and upset that Nelson Agholor has had the dropsies this season. Butterfingers aside, Nelson has proven a reliable fantasy option over the last 2 weeks hauling in 3 touchdowns and seeing a robust 23 targets. Those games were without many other Eagles receivers in games where Philly was trailing most of the way.

The return of Alshon Jeffrey and Dallas Goedert along with facing a Packers defense that has allowed an NFL low 24 receptions and 1 touchdown to receivers will move Agholor down the pecking order limiting his opportunities. The improved Packers defense and a lighter workload make Agholor a bench rider.

Prediction 1 car 7 yards, 5 rec 54 yards: 8.6 pts

Sony Michel (NE@Buf 1pm est)

Playing more like a PS One disc that is scratched than the new PS4 we saw last season; Sony Michel has become nothing more than a touchdown vulture. We were beyond excited to hear rumors of New England getting him more passing down work during the preseason which caused his price to skyrocket. None of that talk was true, as we all should have guessed coming from the Fort Foxboro Patriots. He has 0 receptions this year and is averaging a miniscule 2.4 yds/att on the ground.

Sexy Rexy Burkhead and James White are both preferred options for New England and will see most of the playing time against a stout Buffalo defense. Expect a lot of shotgun and short passing for the Patriots meaning its time to turn Sony off.

Prediction: 11 car 34 yards: 3.4 pts

Peyton Barber (TB@LAR 4:05pm est)

Here we are again. Tampa just can’t seem to settle on a running back and Ronald Jones is still looking more explosive than Peyton.

This week, the Bucs will be facing a negative game script meaning lots of passing and having to rely on their most athletic and explosive players. Barber doesn’t fall in the category and should be given splinters as a result.

Prediction: 9 car 26 yards, 1 rec 9 yards: 4 pts
