Fantasy Football: Week 1 QB Streamer

QB streaming is a skill that can pay off massively in Fantasy Football. Patience at the position allows you to stockpile studs at other positions and grab your starter late, ideally the double-digit rounds. Hopefully you hit on your selection and you have a plug and play starter for the season. If not, heading back the waiver wire is a fine strategy as well.

Each week I will bring you two to three names that are owned in 60% or less of Yahoo! Fantasy Football Leagues that can be a viable starter. The reasonable hope is a top 12-15 guy each week with hopes that they can be much more. Whether you lost Andrew Luck and have to settle on a Week 1 option or you don’t love the matchup for your current option, these targets could make sense as Week 1 targets.

Which Week 1 QB streamer should you turn to?

Jimmy Garoppolo | 56% Owned

If you looking for a QB that not only has plug and play potential in Week 1 but a QB that has the chance to finish the season as a Top 5 QB then Jimmy Garoppolo is your man.

For Week 1 Garoppolo provides a ton of upside. The 49ers are a short favorite on the road against the Buccaneers in a game that features the 4th highest over/under of the Week. Tampa Bay vs San Francisco is one of four games to be at 50 points or higher. Jameis Winston and company are expected to be a dynamic fantasy offense. Garoppolo will have to keep pace if they want to stay in this game.

Beyond Week 1, Garoppolo provides tremendous upside as the signal caller in a Kyle Shannahan offense. If George Kittle, Tevin Coleman, Dante Pettis, Marquise Goodwin and more are all fantasy relevant this season Garoppolo should be also.

Matthew Stafford | 23% Owned

Looking for help in deeper leagues? Matthew Stafford is a great alternative. He is on the road to face a Cardinals defense will be without their top 2 cornerbacks Patrick Peterson and Robert Alford.

The Cardinals offense should be much better this season with Kyler Murray under center. They will also employ Kliff Kingsbury’s Air Raid offense which means more plays and more potential for Stafford and company to get on the field as well.

With a game that features an over/under of 47 Stafford should have a strong day targeting Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones and company.

Nick Foles | 18% Owned

Beyond Garoppolo and Stafford, Nick Foles makes sense as a fine starter. This game features the second highest over/under of the week currently sitting at 52.

Obviously facing the Kansas City Chiefs will help that total rise, but the Chiefs defense will do their part. This defense allowed the second most passing yards a season ago. While some of their additions should help it’s still unclear of how big of a difference we will see this season, especially in the early chunk.

While there are many trying to figure out who may be the fantasy relevant pass catchers in this offense, we don’t have to question who will deliver the ball. Foles should have a solid day and definitely not hurt those who have to use him.
