Super Bowl 54 Best Bets

It’s not even August but Brian Twining and I are here with our Super Bowl 54 best bets. We each picked a team that we think can be hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy come seasons end and have the odds to make it worth throwing down a few hard earned sheckels.

Brian’s Pick:

Dallas Cowboys – 25/1

You either hate em or like me, LOVE EM! Whether you want to believe it or not they’re a legit Super Bowl contender for the upcoming season. The uncertainty of Ezekiel Elliot has caused their odds to take a hit, but this offense has proven before it can still run the ball and be similarly efficient without him. The mid-season addition of Amari Cooper gave Dak a legit no.1 wide-out still in his prime (sorry Dez, you still caught it though!), and the continued progression of Michael Gallup has improved their passing attack drastically. It wasn’t the improved offense however that makes Dallas a favorite of mine to bring home some nice cheddar.

DE-FENCE!  is the new rallying cry for the Boyz and it is a young and very talented one. The Cowboys surprised many early last year when they’re defense was the driving force behind most of their victories. They finished top 10 in passing, top 5 in rushing, and 6th overall defensively for the 2018 season. Building off last year’s success, free-agent Robert Quinn was added to wreak havoc opposite DeMarcus Lawrence. His addition along with the two-headed monster of Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch, they will be difficult for even the best offenses to concur during the upcoming year.

Taking everything into account, the Cowboys are my favorite “longer” shot to win the Super Bowl and at 25 to 1 why not? A defense teetering on elite, the ability of the offense to play keep away, and an improving passing attack make Dallas a legitimate threat to contend in 2019. How Bout Dem Cowboys!

Kyle’s Pick:

Atlanta Falcons – 30/1

When tasked with finding my favorite bet to win Super Bowl 54, my eyes quickly went to the 30/1 range. This range is currently occupied by four teams (Falcons, Seahawks, Vikings, and 49ers) that a compelling case can be made for. Obviously each team has their question marks, thus the longer odds. But of this group the Atlanta Falcons is my favorite to win this year.

San Francisco was really hard to pass on with the stellar defensive line and a healthy Jimmy Garoppolo but It seems like they may be a year or two away from being serious contenders.

The Falcons have a couple things in their favor for 2019. They should be much healthier this year. Their team was ravaged by injuries, especially in the secondary and along the offensive line, two areas critical to success. The return of Keanu Neal and Ricardo Allen should make a huge impact in the back end of the defense.

Atlanta also go younger along the right side of the offensive line which should help protect Matt Ryan and help pave the way for the returning Devonta Freeman who should help provide some balance to the offense.

The Falcons are facing the AFC South and NFC West which should provide some opportunities to reach double-digit wins and ideally home field for some if not all of the playoffs. Their win total of 8.5 has been pounded on the over which is currently -135. It seems like the smart people think 9 plus wins is likely for this team.

All of this should help the Falcons Rise Up over their 7-9 record from a season ago and have a legit shot at being Super Bowl 54 Champions.
