Time to Shine or Ride the Pine: Week 12 Start or Sit

Thanksgiving is here and so is week 12 start or sit. Before we dive into week 12, lets reminisce about week 11. Alex Collins lost his job to an UDFA, Doug Martin disappeared in the second half, and JuJu kept dancing against the Jags. Corey Clement and Javorius Allen are afterthoughts, and Gerald freakin Everett scored the game winner! Oh, and T.Y. proved to still be as explosive as ever. Here are the rest of last weeks predictions:

Running backs who will shine

Jordan Howard (Chi@Det Turkey Day 12:30pm est)

Its Thanksgiving and that means lots of food. The Bears will look to feed their bruiser plenty of work in Thursday opening game against the Lions. Chicago is looking to maintain its spot atop the NFC North and keeping the ball away from Matt Stafford will be their game plan. He hasn’t put up consistent numbers this season, but this week look for the pig to be full.

Prediction: 15 car 82 yards 1 td, 1 rec 5 yards: 15.2 pts

Nick Chubb (Cle@Cin 1pm est)

Cleveland has thrived on offense under new OC Freddie Kitchens and Nick Chubb has been the main beneficiary. The former Bulldog is averaging just under 20 carries/game and has finally been utilized as a pass catcher. His guaranteed touches and goal-line work have made him an every week starter and this week he won’t disappoint. Look for Cleveland to try and pound the floundering Bengals with a heavy dose of Chubb.

Prediction: 23 car 118 yards 2 td, 1 rec 6 yards: 24.9 pts

Josh Adams (NY[email protected]Phi 1pm est)

Even while suffering the worst blowout defeat as a defending Super Bowl Champion, the Eagles may have found their running back. Josh Adams has emerged as not only the favorite for carries but the best out of the bunch. He has taken 27 carries for 178 yards over the last 4 weeks. Adams also played passing downs this past week against the Saints and will continue to see the majority of backfield duties.

Prediction: 14 car 70 yards 1 td, 2 rec 13 yards: 15.3 pts

Put a splinter in their backsides

LeGarrette Blount ([email protected]Det Turkey Day 12:30pm est)

He’s slow with little lateral agility and will be swallowed by the new Monsters of the Midway!

Prediction: 10 car 36 yards 1 td, 1 rec 4 yards: 10.5 pts

LeSean McCoy ([email protected]Buf 1pm est)

Jacksonville is coming off their best defensive performance in its many weeks and that will continue this week. Shady will find running room very tough against them as they will not fear the passing game. McCoy may find some success as a receiver, but scoring will in my opinion be almost impossible.

Prediction: 13 car 56 yards, 4 rec 27 yards: 10.3 pts

Isaiah Crowell ([email protected]NYJ 1pm est)

Once a Brown, always a Brown. Crowell hasn’t passed 49 rushing yards for the last 5 games and is all but invisible in the passing game. The Patriots will look to show their dominance and exercise some demons after an embarrassing week 10. Look for the Jets to have to abandon the run early, thus eliminating Crowell from the offense.

Prediction: 9 car 30 yards, 1 rec 8 yards: 4.3 pts

Wide Receivers/TE in the spotlight

Trey Quinn (Wash@Dal Turkey Day 4:30 pm est)

A plethora of injuries have opened the door for rookie Trey Quinn. Coming off his own injury, Quinn was busy on Sunday being target 4 times and wrangling all 4 for 49 yards. This week with Colt McCoy under center the Redskins may look for quick passes to avoid the Cowboys elite pass rush. The SMU product will continue his success this week with the Cowboys trying to defend against Jordan Reed and Adrian Peterson.

Prediction: 5 rec 68 yards 1 td: 15.3 pts

Kendrick Bourne (SF@TB 1pm est)

The identity of this Bourne has recently been revealed as a legit threat for the 9ers. Injuries to multiple wide outs have increased the opportunities for Bourne and he has shown well. Although Marquise Goodwin may be good to go, the matchup vs the Bucs terrible D is the perfect matchup for lesser known fantasy assets.

Prediction: 5 rec 63 yards 1 td: 14.8 pts

Jeff Heuerman ([email protected]Den 4:25pm est)

“The Game” is Saturday, and no matter the outcome, Jeff Heuerman will be playing with added exuberance against the Steelers. Since the trade of DT, he has been Case Keenum’s favorite target. Not only has he seen an increase in involvement, Heuerman has become the Broncos go to end zone threat with 5 red zone targets over the last 4 weeks. Look for the Steelers to stack the box forcing Keenum to look towards his fave inside the twenty.

Prediction: 5 rec 45 yards 1 td: 13 pts

Splinter Time

Austin Hooper (Atl@NO Turkey Day 8:20pm est)

Thanksgiving is supposed to be a day of friendship. New Orleans will not befriend Austin Hooper this week. They have given up a total of 35 receptions, 376 yards and only 1 touchdown to tight ends all season and during their absolute demolishing of Philadelphia last week, they limited Zach Ertz to only 2 catches!

Prediction: 4 rec 32 yards: 5.2 pts

Devin Funchess ([email protected]Car 1pm est)

Targeted a team high 8 times against the Lions, Funchess only secured 2 of those and had multiple drops. He may be on Newton’s Sh!t list this week especially against a good Seahawks pass defense. I expect Cam to target shorter routes this week and use CMC a lot against Seattle.

Prediction: 4 rec 48 yards: 6.8 pts

All Raiders receivers (Oak@Bal 1pm est)

Going to the well once again. Baltimore offers an even more stiff test and now Oakland is without Brandon Lafell.

Prediction: None start worthy
