College Football Week 9 Picks Against the Spread

Who’s hot? Two thumbs pointed straight at this guy. I have gone 28-17 thus far this season and have been a blistering 19-6 over the last month. Surely the bottom will fall out at some point. Until it does let’s keep cashing these winners.

Who should you target in College Football Week 9?

Before we jump into the Saturday slate, I have two games I like for Friday for those reading the column on the day it posts. Give me Boston College getting 3.5 at home and Louisiana Tech getting 3.5 on the road.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Northwestern Wildcats +4.5 vs Wisconsin Badgers

I love Northwestern this week. They have a nooner at home and welcome in the Wisconsin Badgers. This will be the 4th time the Wildcats have been an underdog this season. The have covered in all three previous contest including 2 outright. They probably should have won the third, just ask Michigan fans.

Wisconsin comes into this game having failed to cover in 2 of their last 3 contests. They have only covered twice all season.

I expect this to be a low scoring game that is likely decided by a field goal. The under of 53 feels like the right side although that number has climbed after opening at 49.5.

Take the Wildcats at home to keep the game inside 5 points and if you’re feeling frisky take the Cats to win the game outright.

Pick: Northwestern +4.5

Houston Cougars -7.5 vs South Florida Bulls

This line makes no sense whatsoever. USF comes into this game at a perfect 7-0 and ranked 21st in the country. They are facing a Houston team that is 6-1 and in all likelihood will be without projected top 5 pick Ed Oliver.

The line has dipped from its opener at -8 to -7.5 but the Cougars that right side here and should roll. Houston is getting 77% of the bets and an astounding 92% of the money in this matchup.

The Bulls are a team that is due to lose in a big way. They have been sneaking out wins. Despite being 7-0 they have only covered twice this season.

Take Houston at home to cover this seemingly big number.

Pick: Houston -7.5

Purdue Boilermakers +1 at Michigan State Spartans

BOILER UP!!!! This pick makes me feel oh so dirty but here we are. This line has swung from Purdue as a favorite to Michigan State as a favorite. I assume folks are expecting a let down after a massive win against my Ohio State Buckeyes a week ago. I can’t see that happening for a Purdue has covered in 5 straight games.

Michigan State is a real mess on both sides of the ball. Brian Lewerke is not good and will have trouble moving the ball against most defenses. Sparty has failed to cover in 3 of its last 4 games.

Bang that big ass drum and take Purdue on the field.

Pick: Purdue ML

Bonus Picks: Missouri -7, E. Michigan -1, Middle Tennessee State -5
