What a week it has been for UFC and daily fantasy MMA on Draftkings. This card will close out what has been a great week for MMA action that will have totaled 4 events. Personally I wish they would have at least two cards a week every week. While I didn’t do a writeup for UFC Fight Night 71, my last prediction column was pretty solid. Once again I hope to keep the momentum rolling and help you all bring home some cold hard cash.
UFC Fight Night 72 presents some interesting situations from a daily fantasy perspective. First and foremost is that this fight card will take place in Glasgow, Scotland. That means if you are playing on Draftkings here in the states, you had better have your lineups locked in the night before. I say that because the fights will be starting stateside at 10 a.m. eastern time. The other interesting thing for this event is the fighter salaries. There really isn’t any reason you shouldn’t be able to fit in 4 and MAYBE even 5 favorites in your lineups this week. That being said lets move onto the picks for UFC Fight Night 72.
Starting with who Vegas likes the best this week, look no further than Joe Duffy ($11,200). Sure he is expensive but he is the biggest favorite on the card by a large margin, in a fight that is a favorite to finish early. I find it hard to not use him as the centerpiece of your lineup in both cash games and GPPs due to the pricing structure this week. If you don’t want to take Duffy, you can move down slightly in salary and look at Joanne Calderwood ($10,800) and Leon Edwards ($10,600).

In the mid tier pricing there are several options to fill out your roster with. In fact you could probably make a decent roster with only fighters in this tier. Fighters in this category include Ilir Latifi ($10,500), Ross Pearson ($10,300), Paddy Holohan ($10,200) and Robert Whiteford ($10,000). I will also throw Michael Bisping and Thales Leites in this tier as they are both $9,800. These two square off in the main event of the evening, and the fight is essentially a pick em. Either, or both of these guys are near must plays for the price and situation.
If you must scrape the bottom of the barrel for value fighters this week there are a couple I think could pay off. Chris de la Rocha ($9,300) and Leonardo Mafra ($8,900) present great value for both cash games and GPPs should you need some salary relief.
