If this is your first time reading my daily fantasy MMA articles, or you have ever considered playing daily fantasy MMA, this IS the week to start. Starting with UFC 189, there will be four..count that FOUR UFC events in the next 7 days. There really is no better time to jump in on the daily fantasy game of MMA then now. What a great way to kick things off with what is being built as somewhat of a supercard, but has had some twists and turns, in UFC 189. There are plenty of great fighters to pick in this one, as well as some to avoid. At the last UFC event, I had my best showing to date, with my picks going according to plan. I am hoping to keep that momentum going to help you all win some cash.
Looking at who Vegas likes at this event, there are three fighters that should clearly be the foundation of your lineups for UFC 189. Thomas Almeida ($11,200), Cody Garbrandt ($11,000) and Alex Garcia ($10,900) are the biggest favorites of the night. They are all also favorites to finish their fights, meaning big points for your lineup. I would try to get at least two of these guys in your lineups.
Things get pretty interesting in the mid priced tier. There are plenty of Vegas favorites to choose from but selecting the right one will be key, as some in this category I think may be a bit overpriced for the fight they are involved in. Pretty much any of the fighters in the 10K price range are in play, especially for GPPs. That being said the fighter that stands out in this group is non other than main eventer Conor McGregor ($10,100). The Main event is a favorite to finish, and at this price it will be hard to fade McGregor as the value is just too good.
In the value tier (below 10K) there are only a few fighters i would take a chance on. You pretty much have to take at least one, but most likely two of them to fill out a roster under the salary cap. Unlike in past events, fighters in this tier have plenty of upside and you can at least feel somewhat comfortable rostering some of these guys. Guys I would take a chance on in this category include Louis Smolka ($9,900), Chad Mendes ($9,600), Robbie Lawler ($9,100), Jeremy Stephens ($9,000) and Tim Means ($8,900).
